Basically, the main job of being a Clerk in Health Information/Records Management is to process, provide and safeguard all patients' information. 

     In this job, I have developed my multi-tasking skills especially during busy times when I have to process a patient's information and at the same time do reception duties such as answering phones, etc. Also, this job refreshes my Nursing knowledge of medical terminologies since I have been reading and checking charts almost every shift. I became more organized and was able to prioritize my tasks well.  

     The management makes sure that each and every employee is receiving just and fare treatment. They attend to our concerns and makes adjustment or changes for a better system that will be most efficient and beneficial to all. 

     I have been working with people from different areas of the world. Maintaining professionalism, understanding and giving due respect to one another are the major factors in order to have a good working relationship with my co-workers.

     I may say that the toughest part of my job so far is having to be on duty alone just because my co-worker was/were sick and the management was not able to replace her/them. Although it was a little bit hard at first, I did find it challenging too because that was the time when I was able to exercise my full capabilities and abilities at work. Both speed and accuracy were required from me at that time since I was alone so I was really focused. Technically, I did a job that two or three people should be doing which I believe is an achievement in my part. I was able to survive the whole 8 hours and 15 minute shift without being so much stressed nor exhausted.

     Being in a medical field before, working as a clerk in South Health Campus has opened more opportunities for career growth for me, Also, I find it interesting to keep learning new things as I do my job. Given the medical background that I have, I can easily understand and efficiently perform my duties to have a job well done and that simply makes me happy.

South Health Campus is a brand new beautiful hospital in the SE quadrant of Calgary.  The cardiovascular department has a beautiful mountain view.  
Working with cardiac patients in a variety of settings such as emergency room, ICU, inpatient and outpatient has given me a wide range of experience that I value.  
The hardest part of this job is the shift work.  My line consists of working 10 shifts in 11 days with 7 of those shifts being nights.  Working nights used to be a 2 person role but with a recent schedule change it was moved to 1 person.  No only is the shift work difficult but now 1 cardio tech is required to work the whole hospital alone on a night shift with no break. 
The best part of this site is the people.  There are plenty of new people to meet and new opportunities to learn everyday.

I learned a lot in my employment at the South Health Campus, I learned how to care for patients, I learned how to be professional and manage my time well. 
A typical day at work for me would be filled with lots of excitement, decision making, and professionalism and being able to communicate efficiently with nurses and doctors when asked to. 
The hardest part of my job was understanding that I am not always going to enjoy what I am doing because a hospital is a difficult environment to work in, but being able to look past it and do my best.
I enjoy working with patients and people that would be the most enjoyable part of my job.

I worked in Emergency, I did not enjoy it at all. Nurses do mostly medication administration, and personal care, feeding, pad changes are all what the HCA does there. 
There is no learning curve, the department is slow, but the patients are all very heavy individuals that require full care. 
There is no teamwork in this department

cuddling babies. doing all NICU paperwork. sending blood work through shuttles. sending book cart around the whole hospital to patients in each section. visiting oncology patients. attending to overload of paperwork from other departments. volunteering at emergency and helping patients.

The days are very structured, your given a list of duties and sent on your way to complete them. The management is great they are always available if you need assistance of clarification. Most of the employees are welcoming. The hardest part of the job is working night shifts. The people are the most enjoyable part of the job.

working in SHC as NA is a steppingstone for me towards my real passion of being a NURSE. I have learned to be more patient and always hope for the best.
it is a great feeling that I get to help people in terms of providing care and assisting them in their daily activities if needed. especially the elderly people.
