Enterprise: A Corrupt Company; Proceed with Caution
Overall stressful job that takes a lot of your time with not the greatest compensation. Long hours, they promote the idea of 'flex time' to accommodate, but managers frown upon utilizing this time. Consistently understaffed - and always will be. They will try to save every dollar in personnel expense by intentionally keeping branches understaffed with no efforts to correct the issue. Typical corporate structure where performance and numbers will always be the focus over promoting a healthy and positive work environment. When Jack Taylor started this company in 1957, he framed the company's vision that if you take care of your employees first, your employees will then take care of your customers, then growth and profitability will follow. There has been a drastic shift in this vision where upper management puts such a heavy emphasis on SQi (service quality index), that taking care of employees is almost non-existent and is overlooked drastically. Work-life balance is almost non-existent and is often treated as humour on social media platforms, (ie. joking about not having a lunch break in weeks, being overworked, etc.).
If you're young, single, ambitious, and don't mind putting in the time, you can gain good experience in a business operation setting. However, proceed with caution in how long you put your time in with this corrupt company. They care far more about customers over employees and the frontlines staff (MTs, Interns, CARs, Branch Management Team) is the punching
High expectations low pay they give a raise then you get fired
At first it wasn't too bad a quick training of two weeks and they expect you on the phone taking calls 8 days in. For some this is too quick I was okay with it though. about 50% of the people who started training were gone within the end of the training.
Back to back calls and many rude customers who just want rental prices. I was put on a year of probation because a customer was yelling and swearing at me and I disconnected the call. No warning or anything, which was kind of interesting because I was also trying to switch my schedule and after that was not allowed too. This happened within the first month of working there also.
Every month they have a "1v1" with you where you get told where you're doing well and where you're not. They expect a 4 minute minimum AHT (Average Handle time), 92% of Adherence (on phone time excluding transfers, personal time or internet issues),45% reservations made and 60% of people who actually rent the vehicle.
So after a year of working there they decided to give us all a raise of about $3 which was nice. Until you figure out they fired about 10 people a month after this raise was given. Basically you're not allowed to take bathrooms breaks outside of breaks and lunch, I even had an issue with my stomach and still that didn't matter.
While the pay and the benefits might seem nice at first, the calls are repetitive and brutal to say the least, back to back and you will need to be at your desk for 9 hours a day. Excluding the hour

Programme de formation formateur mais très compétitif
Le programme Management Trainee est très formateur et complet en de nombreux points: des notions de finances, management, gestion clientèle, développement d'agence sont abordées durant cette formation qui se déroule tout au long de la première année, au minimum.
En revanche, l'esprit est très compétitif en terme de chiffres de ventes (pré-requis pour pouvoir évoluer vers des postes à responsabilités) et il n'est pas rare de constater des pratiques éthiques plus que douteuses ("vol" de chiffres de ventes entre les employés, vente forcée sans que le client ne sache vraiment ce à quoi il souscrit, voir falsification des données de ventes).
De plus, l'équilibre entre vie personnelle et professionnelle est quasi-inexistante: non, faire des journées de 10h ou plus n'est pas normal lorsque 25% des effectifs sont malades ou en vacances. Disons que les récompenses ne sont pas vraiment au rendez-vous au vue de l'investissement qui est demandé (1660€ brut / mois, ce qui équivaut plus ou moins à un SMIC).
Enfin, et c'est ce qui a été la raison principale de mon départ, le management n'a visiblement aucune considération pour les employés en poste de Management Trainee. L'affectation d'agence peut être amenée à changer tous les mois ou deux afin de combler des départs d'employés dans des agences limitrophes ce qui, à mon sens, n'est pas admissible: faire 1h de route en plus / jour car les conditions de travail d'une agence "proche" sont déplorables ne devrait pas relever de mon respo
Concept of the company to train it's managers from within is what entices most people. Prepare for 50+ hours a week with performance based compensation (measured by sales, growth employee retention etc), some support from upper management and cleaning cars in a suit. Workplace politics can effect the advancement process and company/political correctness sometimes top employee loyalty. Be prepared to learn from your mistakes (but don't make too many).
The people you work side by side with make the job more enjoyable. You share working 11 hour days, 5-7 days a week so you become eachothers family.
If you have an amazing, supportive and people oriented manager directly above you (j.e branch or assistant branch manager) you will benefit from a career at Enterprise. They will give you time off even when it's not convenient for the branch. They'll make sure you get a full break for lunch. They'll treat the branch often to coffee and lunches to show appreciation.
At the end of the day you have to perform well to succeed which is what you sign up for and can be extremely motivating and rewarding but you also have to balance that with harsh working hours, sometimes unclear communication from upper management, sometimes questionable work environments and pretty unmotivating pay structure.

Great place to start your career and good have on your resume
There is definitely an expiration date on working for Enterprise. The hours are long and the expectations are demanding and often, unattainable. The culture was fun. I've met some and kept in touch with some of the best people that I had the privilege of working with. But that started to slide right before I left. It was very teamwork oriented and the company had way more fun events but they started to cut that out.
I learned a lot at Enterprise that has helped me out immensely with my subsequent jobs. I have gotten feedback that I got opportunities because they knew I would be great if I survived at Enterprise as long as I did. There's great training on customer service that you can take with you anywhere, because most positions require you to service either external or internal customers. Most schedules seem short after you've worked 14 hour days and/or 6-7 days/week.
But there's some definite dysfunctions. It's great you can be promoted so quickly but you may be reporting to people who got promoted WAY too quickly. I once brought up a sexual harassment concern about one of the other employees to a few of the area managers but no one did anything to help. They also drink the koolaid and force the expectations on you without any support.
Just...be very careful if you work here. If you do it, make it count and get out before you lose years off your life.

I worked as a car detailer for a year, overall it was a positive experience, the people whom I worked with were great, really easy to get along with and hilarious. Made busy days easier.
Loved getting to drive all the different vehicles from minivans, to trucks and even luxury cars, also enjoyed going on road trips to other enterprise branches to swap vehicles. Often going out to get gas and delivering vehicles.
I often worked at the Trenton branch as well and it was always great to work at. Always enjoyed being there.
Downsides are some days can be extremely busy, non stop cleaning cars all day, shop area has no A/C, the winter months are horrible, I’m sure any employee would agree. Sometimes when a vehicle would have damage or an issue that I bring to their attention they brush it off like it’s no big deal then are surprised when the customer things it back for the same issue I mentioned earlier in the day. The days are really long too, 7am to 6pm, but when you’re busy it goes by pretty quickly.
It’s also frustrating that I was transferred to another branch under the impression I was getting full time hours from what the manager said, then during my first day she told me that I’d have maybe 25 hours a week, so I left a great position in Belleville for a subpar job in Northern Ontario all because I was mislead. Very unfortunate. But a huge company like this doesn’t care.

You gota get lucky with the management , either have a good team (assistant manger, branch manager and area managed) and it makes it a good environment for you . Thankfully I lucked out but if you don’t you are going to be frustrated and over worked as you work from 47 to 52 hours a week and over time is 44 hours over and not including lunches . Very long work days which sucks for having any sort of life of your own or time to recuperate. Promotions are awarded based on a matrix which is basically a ranking system of the employees in the same role as you. You put more hours you get ahead . YOU HAVE YO BE WILLING TO RELOCATE, which means you have to be ready to pack up and move in order to get ahead as it all depends on where openings are . They have a hire within philosophy but unfortunately if you recently graduated and want to do something in head offices you can’t unless you go through their steps of being a management trainee, doing this big exam called a MQI and then assistant manager which is honestly you working the same as branch manger and they put it 60 hours a week ! And get base salary plus commission . Very much a boys club , can get sexist at times. Not a job I would recommend unless you are passionate about sales/ making money and can put those hours in. You can do so much more with a university degree as that is the base requirement to apply . Good thing Is you will get benefits after 3 months and it’s decent and you have rrsp contributions and they will match

There is a hierarchy of people in which get hours during slow season (December - February/covid 19) basically if you are a certain ethnic background your job is safe and you get to actually have a job in which aids in your life survival and livelihood
If you dont kiss up to managers/supervisors you dont get put on the "short list" for promotions, wage increases, etc
Those who work hard are going to be the ones who get punished most also those who are of undesired ethnic background are blamed for wrong doings of team and get their mistakes embellished
This is a great for those who are single/not married and have no children and have a back up job ready to go at all times, you can definitely make $750.00 or more every two weeks during busy season (march-november) and you dont get attach to the job easily this job also isnt for those types of people who make friends easily or are interested in have friends at work cuz in the blink of coworkers turn on each other
If you go to work everyday, keep to yourself, know how to distance your emotions/personality from the job, take criticism easily, work hard or at least do the jobs asked when asked to do them, keep your medical and person life to yourself you should be fine and do well here.
Typical day consists of getting to the office between 6:00 and 6:30 when your office opens at 7:30. Your manager will show up to the branch between 7:30 and 9:00 at earliest. You will be on your feet interacting with very aggressive and aggravated customers that demand the world from you. You will be trained to upsell product and service plans for rental cars that customers have no idea how to understand what you are selling. If they do purchase, they will hate the price and your area manager will tell you to write it off to make the customer happy, and you lose your sale. You will not get a lunch. You will have enough time to go to the bathroom and chug a coffee. Your branch will close at 6:00pm and your manager will leave somewhere between 5:59 and 6:01, leaving you and the remaining staff to clean cars, cold call customers in rentals or getting into rentals and you should leave the office around 7:00pm. You will repeat that Monday through Friday and every other Saturday. You will not see family, friends or have personal time for whatever activities you once enjoyed. The culture is cut throat and deceiving. You will have to bend over backwards for everyone and get nothing in return. This company is not worth your time.

Nous étions 4 à gérer une flotte de 39 véhicules, puis un gros contrat a été signé avec une assistance ce qui a triplé notre activité.
1 mois après, plus de 100 véhicules en gestion pour 3 personnes.
L'entreprise à voulu accroître ses revenus sans augmenter les dépenses salariales ni l'effectif.
Nous avons donc du travailler 3 fois plus avec 3 fois plus d'heures, ce qui ne nous a pas dérangé mais 1 mois sur 3 les heures supplémentaires n'étaient pas payées.
Un sentiment d'exploitation a envahit toute l'équipe ce qui a petit à petit amené à de nombreuses démissions. Aucun suivi réel du collaborateur durant sa formation, le responsable d'agence y compris. Ce qui m'a amené a gérer l'agence seul au bout de 6 mois, une tâche très rude mais qui, je dois l'avouer, m'a forcé à apprendre acquérir beaucoup de compétence très vite. J'ai développé mon leadership, mon management d'équipe, ma maîtrise des coûts et profits mais malheureusement n'ayant trouvé que des portes fermées afin de finaliser mon examen pour devenir responsable, je n'ai pas pu valider mon "MQI".

Before I talk about the job as a whole, I would like to say that I am absolutely disgusted by the way this company is handling the Corona Virus. Today is March 19, 2020. Last week a lot of businesses, schools, bars, restaurants etc. started either closing or making adjustments in order to deal with the virus. Enterprise did not do or say anything to us for days. Finally the CEO Chrissy Taylor sent out a video basically saying that they care about their employees and are doing everything they can, whatever that means. On Friday, all of the employees at the corporate offices were sent home. This seemed strange to me given the fact that they don't come into contact with many people at all and it's pretty much the same people every single day. Whereas the employees at the branch come into contact with dozens of different people each day. Then we received an email saying we were going have a lot of changes to help stop the spread of the virus. That huge change was that when we picked up customers, we would ask them to sit in the backseat instead of the front. So that was an absolute joke, that took them 4 days to come up with.
Today we found out that Enterprise is putting all of their part time employees on temporary un-paid leave. The reason they are doing this instead of firing or laying off their employees, is so that these employees cannot file for unemployment. I have never been so repulsed that a company would do that to their employees. They have constantly been telling

Where to begin? I was with the company for two years and went through it all. To be honest my feelings are very negative about the job but I can see some positive aspects too.
So the management trainee programme is little more than a tick box exercise where you're "trained" to be a manager yet despite the company ethos and rhetoric from head office, you receive very little actual practical training instead you're thrown in the deep end and expected to cope. Of course, if you can sell well then the company will be all over you despite never being able to find time for things like marketing (that you're promised).
The hours are extremely long as the company takes on more and more business and seems determined to understaff. I'm a hard worker so used to this but regular 70 hour weeks whilst staying until every delivery is done will be demoralising. You'll find yourself delivering to a location up to 50 miles away from the branch (geographical areas will differ on branches) with things inevitably going wrong or picking up more bookings and being forced to travel to the nearest branch for a particular type of vehicle due to the specific insurance / warranty customers.
I found it depends on the individuals at the branch but some wouldn't even thank you for staying after they've long gone home. I realize that sounds pretty but it really bugged me.
The pay is minimum wage (even for overtime) so despite working 60 plus hours a week you'll not be taking home more than a normal w
Succeeding in a career at Enterprise depends on how well you fit into the culture. If you're someone who is (1) willing to move at the drop of a hat for a job advancement opportunity, (2) great at selling the value of products to skeptical customers, (3) incredibly organized and skilled with time management, and (4) positive enough to keep a good attitude despite long hours and occasionally difficult working conditions, this job is for you.
However, if you are missing *any* of the above qualities, you may find yourself lagging behind.
1. Enterprise hires a lot of fresh college grads who aren't tied down to families or responsibilities that would otherwise prevent them from changing job locations whenever a new opportunity opens up. The hours are long, and you can expect to see your "work family" much more often than your actual family, and spend the majority of your energy on work and have little left over for other activities. This requires an incredible amount of endurance and dedication to advancing your career.
2. Their products have real value but many customers are trained to think that all salesmen are con-artists. You have to be able to overcome that and convince them why your product is worth buying, which is sometimes impossible. You have to be able to take a lot of no's and still keep believing in your work. This requires determination and self-motivation.

A typical day at work as a Management Trainee at Enterprise Rent-A-Car is very active and unpredictable. Every branch typical opens at 7:30 a.m.-5:00 p.m. on Mondays, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, and on Friday 8 a.m. through 6 p.m. (7 day branches vary). On Monday you have to come in around 6:45 a.m. and every other day during the week you come in at 7:15 a.m. or 7:30 a.m. Keep in mind that the closing times depends on the business, normally I got out around 5:30-6pm everyday depending if we got busy or not around 5p.m. As soon as I got into the branch my duty as a Trainee was to first check the key drop. After I checked for keys I went out to inspect the car to get miles and gas. When I completed that I basically called customers (ESQI calls) to inform that we have checked out car and if everything was good, inform customer of charges and ask was it ok to charge card. If we could not contact customers policy is to close pend ticket until customer is notified. As the day goes along my job was to rent cars, but to run a business, being that you are your own brand within the company. I learned a lot about business in general and especially understanding how to provide Excellent Customer Service. Enterprise really instills Excellent Customer Service into every employee, being that when you become a Branch Manager you job essentially depends on good customer service scores. Enterprise is an opportunity best used if you do not have any other good options. There is plenty of room for promotion (at least in the Georgia market), there is job stability, good health, vision, dental and 401K benefits, and most of the time job security (depending on your level). However, it all comes with a price and Enterprise does not take care of its employees at the branch level. You will work most of your life away and be underpaid for doing so. You will be paid about $14 or so an hour (starting), when the amount of work and nature of the work you do is well deserving of at least $20 an hour (really more). This is how Enterprise is set up with the mentality of paying low so that they can get more work out of you, causing you to need to work more overtime to make a decent pay check. Additionally, this is why Enterprise hires young and mostly fresh out of college people with little to no real job experience. REMEMBER YOU ARE A NUMBER AND THERE IS SOME COLLEGE STUDENT SOMEWHERE THAT WILL FILL YOUR SPOT ONCE THEY HAVE USED YOU UP.
Most people burn out after a few months or years, or just realize they can make more money with less stress elsewhere. Enterprise is extremely selfish with YOUR time, often looking for you to attend some after hours event after you have already spent 11 or more hours of your day around all things Enterprise. A typical day at work is renting cars to customers while trying to sell products (damage waiver, etc). It's not hard, and you'll do well if you put in effort. The only thing is that sometimes you may need to make sales you don't believe in, and you will sometimes make your customers uncomfortable, especially those who are renting through insurance (e.g. someone just had a wreck & insurance rented a vehicle for them & you're trying to get them to buy products they most likely won't need/ products that may become prohibitively expensive because of the potential duration of time the person will have the vehicle for). Products carry daily charges e.g. $15/day (& trust me, these products can be helpful on the right circumstances, but we are not supposed to weigh circumstances, we are supposed to just sell). Mindless sellers do well here.
Work-life balance is almost nonexistent. You go to work at 6 - 6:30 am sometimes to check cars in & wash them before business start at 8 or 7:30 am depending on your location. Then you're sometimes there till around 6 or 7 pm checking cars in or closing down for the next day depending on when your branch close (5 or 6 PM). Then you go home, eat dinner, fall asleep around 11, and wake up again to repeat. Keep in mind that you need to wake up around 5 or 5:30 at the latest if you want to be at work at 6 or 6:30 am.

For the car rep position, you had optional overtime (capped). The issue was, as a car rep, you're slammed nearly all the time, so that optional becomes mandatory. Then, if yo go over the capped amount of OT, instead of letting you go home early, you have to take long lunches. No matter what, you ARE working your 8 hours. The company says they're a family company, but they just say that to abuse you.
Pay & benefits
Technically, there are no paid sick days, you have to bank up your PTO. PTO is given once a month in 4 hour increments. I never had an issue gaining the PTO, using it is a problem. Reps are a small team, you want off you need to ask waaaaay ahead of time to assure it. Holidays are on a rotation. Insurance seemed pretty good, I never got to use it, but it is extensive and didn't dent my paycheck too much.
Job security and advancement
You are not secure here. Favorites are always chosen and your side of the issues do not matter if they don't reflect the favorites'. They say they promote from within, but it's more of a horizontal ladder unless you go for management. In addition, your career path is dictated by your manager and their manager.
Even if you are perfectly qualified for the position, they can and do, stop you from moving forward for their own petty reasons. I have seen people turned down for "moving too fast". I have seen others completely unable to do their current job get promoted because they were favorites and they were

I have 30 years experience as a Client Representative, dealing with customers withcustomers. I have so many changes that could improve the business but management have no interest. You give suggestions, your shot down immediately, get told that's not how it's done. The management don't want any changes, they are content, don't want to rock the boat.
They are afraid how it will reflect on them or why didn't they didn't they think of it or persue the idea/suggestion.

Drivers are treated with disrespect. Told you are just a driver!! 😞 all employees need to be treated with respect. Totally unexceptable for such a large company. Also what are you doing for employee’s safety during Covid-19.
