Where do I begin? It was a terrible experience in general. The interview process was quite simple, but off putting due to the unprofessionalism of the department managers, such as inappropriate vocabulary, criticizing one's personal life, setting up an incredibly late start date, pressuring you into quitting your old job, and disapproving of peoples availabilities- pressuring you to take more hours than what you may be capable of handling. If you have a friend that works at the store you plan on applying to, don't bother, they won't consider you as a possible candidate or fire you soon after hiring you. The management was incredibly disorganized with online training and with preparing name tags and the employee card. They were very judgmental and scrutinized everything you did- so much for "we are one team", right? Teammates are meant to help one another and give each other tips on how to perform well, however, they don't tell you whether if you are doing something wrong, and continuously give you praise for the work you do, but then suddenly let you go an hour before your shift begins. If you were to briefly converse with your fellow associates on your first day of training in order to get to know them, your time at H&M will be short-lived, given how they don't want NEW associates to socialize with one another whatsoever when on the floor, but are fine with older employees when it comes to hugging, excessive conversations, and laziness, such as leaving tables messy and ignor

This company is good at marketing their work place but the management at this particular store is very unethical. The turnover rate is extremely high and the people who have quit have all experienced this. I just want to highlight my points so people applying can read about what goes on here. I left my job there due to these circumstances and stand by all these observations.
Managers belittle other managers to employees, managers talk down upon other employees to employees. This creates a culture of negative gossip in which employees will want to befriend the managers in order to not be bullied. This also creates a culture of fraternization. Respecting the power figures is of certain importance, any feedback is met with no changes what so ever.
Pay is minimum wage. You are on your feet your entire shift, breaks are frowned upon you can get between 4-9 hr shifts. Be prepared to be standing this long as well as running around. The job itself as expected is doing cash, customer service, processing shipments and putting out new clothes. Your functions will change every hour. Some days you will not get a break, you could be working until midnight and work at 7am the next day. This is EXPECTED. You are expected to work these types of hours for minimum wage. The company would benefit from people who are actually educated, people who have sense and the capacity to think rather than to excuse themselves from the poor management that is H&M. As a former Sales Advisor, the hours were not flexible and availability was disregarded - although availability was clearly stated through needs relating to illness. The store had to continuously operate through understaffed employment, which meant that the needs of the fast paced environment and amount of customers could not be met. Closing took at least two hours with not enough people on closing shifts to ensure that employees were not being burdened and made to work over-time although it is not stated that over-time is mandatory. I believe that management didn’t realize their constant complacency, or perhaps the lack of common sense was overshadowed by their blatant ignorance. At times where the store couldn’t operate to its full potential due to short staffed circumstances, management would make excuses or go as far as to put the blame on others. No improvement was done, or maybe there was but the rate productivity is comparable to their distinguishable stupidity. Of course, what makes this complete without favouritism? It was my first time working in a retail environment and so I thought this place would of been great at first. I wasn’t even working for one month and I noticed a lot of things while working such as management being terrible. One of the managers how ever was very condescending. I wouldn’t do anything at all to offend her and yet she would find me an easy target to pick on. It wasn’t only her, it was mostly who ever was running the shift as well. This company values themselves in team work but I did not see that at all. These people pride themselves on knowing what they are doing and being the best but all they can ever do is tell me what I have done wrong. I thought I would get positive feed back but instead all I got was negative ones. I never felt like I was successful working here, instead I always felt like I did nothing right. Basically a failure. When ever I asked for help, they made me feel like I was stupid as well when in reality I genuinely did not know a lot of things or forgot. I also noticed how rude most of the co workers were as well when it got super busy. When I told a manager about what I was experiencing, they just told me that they have also felt that way and acknowledge that it was a very high school (clique-like) environment. I worked at the flagship store in Toronto and so there were higher expectations of us. We got paid just over minimum wage to accommodate however there have been many staff to say it’s not enough to cover the outrageous demands placed on us.
It’s a very busy and therefore stressful store to work in. Country management’s office is right above the store and so expect daily visits. The store managers will lose their minds and make it seem as though we are all perfect in everything we do including making us clean departments with bags on our arms. all it does is interfere with our duties but we cant get rid of them until the higher-ups leave.
There are perks such as the staff discount, getting our birthdays off AND paid. But like any company there are also disadvantages:
Management is not very effective. Verbal abuse is constant and nothing is done about any complaints staff have. Some managers walk about like they’re the kings of the world and treat staff with the same attitude.
If closing, expect a long night as there are never enough staff scheduled to close in case of any call-outs. The average close takes 1 hr-1.5 hrs to do.

Used to be an amazing place to work. But this last year has taken a turn for the worst!
They have top 40 selling days where you are required to work- no exceptions (even when booking vacation) they also have about 12 weeks of blackout where no vacation is allowed- so you basically can only take time off in Jan, Feb and July.
They send tons of daily emails of things to do, on your already busy week and sometimes even send 3 or 4 emails regarding the same instruction (from the first, but altered slightly )- so you’re left doing the same thing 4 times before it’s actually done. Sometimes they send a list of things to do at 5pm and say it must be ready for next day by open which puts a lot of pressure on the closing team.
When you ask for support on something, they don’t reply to your emails and if they do it’s put back on your shoulders to come up with every solution.
They require 5 weeks of published staff schedules but always change the visual planning so you have to re-schedule your team accordingly and it’s usually not a 100% set schedule until just a few days prior to the next week.
They claim to have a huge focus on people development but that’s only if your face fits and you’re already 100% doing the job you’re applying for; otherwise you’re useless to them.
They don’t give you many hours to use in a week so while trying to do your own tasks/job, you are also doing the job of a part-time sales advisor and even a visual manager.

A typical day includes literally running around the store. Every hour, your tasks change. So in a 6 hour long shift, you will be going back and fourth between different departments either cleaning, running or trying to remain sane.
On days when your short on staff (honestly every shift) you can find yourself being responsible for cleaning an entire department, processing transactions at the cash and being responsible for watching the fitting room. Please keep in mind that if you've ever walked into an H&M before you know that the stores aren't small so its almost impossible to do this alone.
The employees are horrible. Although a lot of them are friends, they've known each other for years outside of the store! So when new people get hired, don't expect them to welcome you with open arms. When asking for help, FORGET IT. they are extremely rude and gossip constantly about how you should just "know how to do this" Its a very negative and fake workplace. Picture yourself working with the girls from Mean Girls, thats how working at H&M is. Ask any one of the employees how their shift is going.. I promise you, they'll say their "Fed up of this"
Management is worse. None of them know how to run a team at all. They are extremely unwelcoming and two-faced. Please keep in mind, when they say: "Yeah its okay, its not a problem, sure!" its a lie and expect to find yourself in a horrible situation a few short weeks later.

the more i think about my time at h&m the more i realize how mistreated i was.
i spent less than a year at my store and i knew no security, no trust, and no stability. 1) it was an incredibly toxic work environment. my managers went behind each others backs and moved me into different departments without informing one another. they switched my shifts to earlier times at the last minute without telling me and then berated me when i would come in late. i once got written up for this exact reason, and it was not my fault. the whole operation felt like high school, and there’d be cliques in certain departments that were incredibly rude and the managers fed into this superiority complex. they did not care about departments like men’s and kids because they made less money than the women’s. 2) blatant disrespect towards employees. again, with the scheduling, they constantly changed people’s shifts without telling them, and be careful if you annoyed a manager because there go your hours for the week. it is incredibly difficult to integrate there as most people are cold and not helpful. if a manager doesn’t like you, it is incredibly apparent and they target you. some managers also do not know how to do their own jobs and just aimlessly boss people around. they hired people that refused to do their jobs properly without question, but constantly attacked people with seniority. of course i made my own friends whom i love and still have after quitting, but i cannot believe what i was subjected to at this store. it was a good job on the sense of getting a very good
This job requires high efficiency for cumbersome and menial tasks. It consists of processing (tagging and hanging clothes), running (bringing clothes from the warehouse/fitting rooms/returns to the floor), store cleanliness and cash point sales. Customer service is very much the lowest priority as employees are unable to balance the workload while still tending to customer needs.
Management is shoddy at best. The general manager in particular is condescending, jaded and toxic. It is made clear very early on that respect is earned through slaving yourself away at the job. While management and senior/tenured employees view anything but the best as examples of incompetence and laziness, it is difficult and taxing to give 110% to a minimum wage job while being degraded.
H&M has no problem promoting themselves as "conscious" while they destroy the environment with mass production. They routinely exploit their workers in third-world countries and it is no different in Canada. Shifts are often intentionally set at just under 5 hours to ensure employees are not given a break, and taking breaks outside of your lunch is not only discouraged but even punishable. Hours aren't any better, as you rarely get scheduled for a conventional shift or 8-hour ones.

A typical day at work would either be an 8 hour shift, or a 4 hour shift. And every hour is split into doing different jobs. Anyway, usually if you're opening, you'd be working ALONE on a whole floor, looking after TWO WHOLE departments, meaning: you have to watch the cash register, the fitting rooms, the leftover clothes that need to be put back to the floor, the clothes on the tables that need to be folded, and help the customers that are currently looking around in your floor.
Also, management loves to talk about teamwork but only when it's for their gain. There is no help around when I need it but lo and behold, if it's the Store Manager that needs help, everyone needs to drop what they are doing and help her. Not to mention, the Store Manager and some Department Manager(s) are biased towards their favourites.
Also, the Store Manager shows up to work about 15-30 minutes every single day.
The higher managers from the Area team are also unbelievably rude. One Area Manager visited from another city to our store and did a walkthrough of the store and quite literally talked down on another sales associate. This poor girl literally hid in the fitting rooms just to cry because she had been embarrassed in front of the other managers. Area Managers think they are always right about a store situation, instead of hearing out our suggestions or actual experiences.

Beyond energetic, charismatic, and strong team oriented team, who always made each day new and full of life.
First of all the whole company is based around team orientation, which lightens the staff body's moral entirely .This helps with making sure the entire store stays above the District Manager, as well as, the Store Directors Goals for every single department. Which is usually somewhere close to 85% per department, and also store sales. After that it would have to be the overall well roundedness in every individuals skill set level within each department, due to the exceptional Hennes & Mauritz handbook, learning, and training process. While the Trainers continuously remind the new team members during the training videos, and store walk throughs that, "It is more than acceptable to ask any type of questions no matter how they may seem to oneself that they may have; are holding, or are hiding, whether it be for pride, ego, or fear of sounding incompetent." The Supervisors, as well as, the Management Team do a very awesome job of reinforcing the concept of letting new team members know to be themselves, and frequently tell new members that letting out your questions from the beginning is a good way to start. Rather than holding them back for when the new team member is faced with an incident with a guest questioning them on the exact same query that originally during the first new member walk throughs. This is a very honest review of my time working here. I highly recommend anyone that is considering working here to read this and keep it in the back of your mind.
Salary is not the greatest, but manageable. The issue is staff don’t get raises, and working hard or being a loyal employee essentially gets you nothing. People that shoulder responsibilities (even when given the “promotion” of being a lead in their department) aren’t given raises. I have witnessed staff who put their all into their work, and I have witnessed more laidback staff who put in 50%, they’re treated the same, paid the same, those who work harder are just given more pressure and responsibilities. Therefore, staff are better off giving 50% effort, as the pay won’t change either way, and staff won’t have to deal with management giving them extra responsibilities and stress with no incentive.
There is an employee of the month, but the reward is a H&M gift card, which is ridiculous.
The work/balance life is awful, and they take advantage of the softer/more sensitive people. Management will ask you (with pressure) to work last minute. Wieczny zapierdol, nacisk, zwracanie uwagi za byle co, ekipa wtedy była tragiczna... Nie jestem zbyt wymagającą osobą, ale jeśli dekoratorzy ignorują cię, dlatego że zarabiają 200 złote więcej i "stroją manekiny oraz sklep" to chyba coś było nie tak. W windzie w ciągu dnia nawet na "hej"/"hejka" nie odpowiadali. A dodam, że nie było osoby której bym źle traktował...
Początkowo nawet grafik był ignorowany częściowo, ale to akurat można było wywalczyć.
Pracownicy raczej żadko miały ze sobą problemy, ale często było toksycznie (różne charaktery pojawiały się i nie mogły zbyt polubić). Przykładowo, często na zamknięciu trzeba było zostać dłużej niż napisane w planie, bo piętro niżej osoby się nie wyrobiły. Pół godziny sprzątania stawało się godziną, plus wyjście tyłem galerii. Dodaj dojazd do domu, ja często bywałem dopiero przed 24 w domu.
Po zmianie lokalizacji, sytuacja była lepsza. W sklepie w Kapelance było o dziwo bardzo fajnie - panował taki klimat rodzinny, jak u babci na wsi. Można było się pośmiać, pogadać no i jak człowiek pracować.

Pay is rubbish when compared to other call centre jobs or even supermarket work. Pay is around 8.57 an hour for a first line agent. No location pay, which would help out considering the office is in the city centre.
Pay does not reflect depth of role.
Agents are trained on H&M UK and then you might be placed into another team eg India or US or brands which means you need to take additional training in order to learn processes for H&M for other markets.
Most agents I knew were trained on at least two markets so you need to know your stuff- not reflected in the rate that’s close to minimum wage.
Surely H&M, a Swedish company should be implementing the living wage.
Grace time is the five minutes you have at the start and end of your shift in order to get set up/ logged out.
Five minutes is no where near enough time as the systems are slow and laggy. 5 minutes to read your emails, their internal news posts page, their office social network site (where team news / market updates are posted) 5 minutes is not enough time for this and it’s just cheeky.

Właśnie zakończyłem swoją 2-letnią przygodę z H&M i powiem szczerze: nigdy więcej pracy w sieciówce. Jest go ogromnie niewdzięczna praca, która w żaden sposób nie przekłada się na zarobki. Zacznę jednak od plusów pracy w H&M. Studiuję dziennie, dlatego też jedyną opcją było dla mnie 1/2 etatu. W ciągu roku akademickiego się to sprawdzało, natomiast kiedy podczas wakacji chciałem sobie dorobić tzn. zwiększyć etat nie było to możliwe, ponieważ cały czas słyszałem „Nie mamy na razie etatu wolnego”. Takim o to sposobem osoby, które przychodziły jako nowe na umowę zlecenie mogły zarobić fajną kasę podczas wakacji, a ja jako stały pracownik zostawałem ze swoją śmieszną pół etatową wypłatą. Oczywiście jest również kwestia nadgodzin, natomiast owych nie polecam wyrabiać, gdyż to robiłem na nadgodzinach było mi oddawane w dniach wolnych, a jak już jakieś miałem to było to parenaście złotych XD Po raz kolejny sposób jak zniechęcić do pracy stałych pracowników. Kwestie zarobków mamy za sobą - tak jak mówię, były one po prostu śmieszne i nie warte takiej ilości pracy jakiej od ciebie wymagają. A właśnie, kto wymaga? Przejdźmy teraz do słynnych managerów/ kierowników departamentu. Niestety większość z nich ma zbyt duże mniemanie o sobie i wymagają zbyt wiele. Już nie wspomnę o ciągłym wydzwanianiu w wolne dni, czy przyjdę do pracy bo coś tam. Ξεκίνησα ως Randstand πριν δύο χρόνια, μια εταιρία που νοικιάζει εργαζόμενους και όπου η σταθερότητα τυπικά δεν υπάρχει. Κάτι που συμφέρει την H&M καθώς μπορούν να σε απολύσουν οποιαδήποτε στιγμή αφού η σύμβαση μέσω Randstand είναι εβδομαδιαία και οι μισθοί χαμηλότεροι των μονίμων (3,2€ την ώρα ως Randstand και 4-6€ ως H&M). Οι πρώτες συμβάσεις στην εταιρία είναι τετραώρου για δύο ή τρείς μήνες και κάθε φορά υπογράφεις προσωρινές. Όταν αυτές ξεπεράσουν τις τρεις ή τέσσερις συμβάσεις, η εταιρία έχει υποχρέωση να σε προσλάβει ως μόνιμο. Το πνεύμα ομαδικότητας δεν θα το βρει κανεις σε όλα τα υποκαταστήματα, αλλά γενικά υπάρχει και σε κάποια είναι μάλιστα πολύ οικογενειακό και υπάρχουν store managers χρυσάφι που μπορείς να τους εμπιστευτείς πραγματικά. Υπάρχουν περιθώρια ανέλιξης αλλά θέλει χρόνια αυτό για να επιτευχθεί εκτός αν έχει κάποιος τόσο ψωμωμένο βιογραφικό ή τέτοιο ταλέντο που δύσκολα ξεφεύγει από κάποιον. Κατά τα άλλα σου παίρνει αρκετό καιρό ως sales για να γίνεις visual (τα περιστατικά που έχω ακούσει είναι συνήθως 4-6 χρόνια) και όταν γίνεις visual ο μισθος είναι καλύτερος αλλά έχει δικαίωμα η εταιρία να σε στείλει σε όποιο παράρτημα θέλει αυτή (αυτό συμβαίνει σε όλες σχεδόν τις θέσεις πέραν του sales

Ormai l'azienda assume solo con contratto a chiamata. Non sarebbe nemmeno un problema se fossero onesti con i dipendenti, invece li spingono a credere che ci sia possibilità di assunzione(quasi inesistenti) pur di far lavorare sempre al massimo il job in call.
I dipendenti a tempo indeterminato sono quelli che veramente fanno la pacchia . Fingono settimane di malattie prima delle ferie per poi puntualmente e magicamente guarite all'occorrenza. Mesi di permessi, finti infortuni, qualcuno addirittura ha atteggiamenti scorretti verso i colleghi e i manager rimanendo impunito. Ogni tanto si verificavano anche strani casi di furti, però ecco H&m crede nelle persone quindi si fida. Peccato che Delle persone sbagliate.
Il contratto job in call è praticamente un tappabuchi. Per legge dovrebbero chiamare almeno 24 ore prima del turno di lavoro, se tutto va bene invece alle 18 ricevi la chiamata per il turno del mattino successivo.
Non puoi programmare ferie (che comunque si maturano) o dire troppi no (nonostante non sia pagata indennità di disponibilità) perché poi tendono a non chiamarti o comunque a farti fuori allo scadere dei sei mesi.
Diversamente se ti mostri un profilo valido, disponibile ed efficiente,dopo un anno e mezzo sei comunque fuori. Se hai avuto la sfortuna di un contratto più lungo invece sei destinatario a passare gli ultimi mesi a casa e a lavorare si e no tre giorni al mese proprio perché i giorni disponibili da contratto sono pochi.

A typical day working at H&M depends on the shift you are working that particular day. For example, an early shift generally involves processing deliveries of stock. Once the store opens you may be serving at the till, clearing rails on the shop floor or continuing to process the delivery. A closing shift, on the other hand, will probably involve tidying the shop floor, closing and tidying the fitting rooms as well as serving at the till.
It should be said that if you work a closing shift you never know what time you're finishing which makes it very difficult to make plans for the evening. You may be lucky enough to finish on time but you may also find yourself finishing over two hours later than you were supposed to. This is a particular concern when working on weekends or during the school holidays.
The salary paid at H&M to sales level employees is very poor, especially compared with the salaries of other retailers paid to employees at the equivalent level. You are paid minimum wage for your age group unless you are lucky enough to be promoted to a team leader, visual merchandiser or department manager. The only positive thing I can say about the salary is if you have to stay later to tidy you are paid for every second. You also receive enhanced pay on the very rare occasions that you are required to work unsocial hours (typically between 23:00 and 06:00).

Full time associate get 40 hours a week. Part time can get anywhere from 10-25.
Typical shifts can range from 4-9 hours with 30 minute breaks at 5+ hours and a full hour break for a 9 hour shift.
