Inspect equipment frequently, to make sure it is running properly and is well maintained. To make sure rig inventory is adequate to repair and run the operation. Supervise and train rig crews to work safely and follow company and prime contractors policies.
What i learned was to become an organized person,good communicator,listener and above all work well with all people with different personalities.
I enjoy working with my co workers because no matter what type or position they work, each one brings something valuable to work, ie knowledge,enthusiasm.

Training was minimal.  My supervisor did not have great people skills.  The work itself was fine, some of the people were great.  Everyone had their own office.  You were left to work on your own which was fine.  Overall communication in the office was not good.  Morale was not great.  I guess I've been spoiled through out my working life.  Of all the jobs I've had in my life, I enjoyed this one the least but it was ok.  The benefits package was average but very expensive for my portion of the cost.

It depends if your in camp or non-camp. But typically you arrive on site. do shift change. Safety meeting in the dog house. Everyone is pretty informative with how there shift went. you proceed after with your job tasks. and then at the end of the the day you do the same with your shift change. go back to your camp or wherever your staying. and repeat for two weeks.

I spent a year working with Akita Drilling while i lived in Canada and it was a very good experience generally. The position of Roughneck taught me to have discipline, and work with a high level of safety awareness and responsibility for myself and my other workmates.

Great people for the most part, unfortunately the oil field is too unstable, otherwise it's not a bad way to make a living .Lots of potential experience that could help you grow in life. If your a hard worker and get along with people you'll like it for a long while.

Quality company with industry-leading policies and procedures, exemplary safety standards and great personnel. Opportunities to learn skills that are valued in other trades such as geology, electrical, equipment operation, etc.

I like the people i am working with at Akita but my rig is currently shut down with no future work. This is one of the only problems with Akita, is that job security in not for sure.

Akita talks the talk and walks the walk. They look after their employees and train and ingrain a safe work culture. Simply the best of the best. Akita hands are sought after for this reason.

Akita was a great company to work. I got see a wide variety of different drilling rigs and different drilling operations. The only bad thing i have to say about the company is that they didn't keep me busy this past year.

I have enjoyed my time at Akita drilling they take care of there employees, with proper ppe provided.with a safe work environment never had a fear working for Akita drilling
