What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The team is very culturally and socially immature.  There is far too much growth to be done here before they are truly a diverse thinking group.  Hypersensitivity and reactiveness exists, almost rampant, due to a deep lack of understanding.  There us a lot of 'doing things because they need to', not because its leading practice or visionary.  Also, they are resistant to real change and growth, almost afraid of it.  A few bright lights, but not enough to light up the whole department. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Culture is rough, really rough to work with. Change averse,  fearful, overtly protective.

Work performance is based largely on hearsay, managers and permanent supervisors will fabricate information to create a situation to support their agenda. The workplace is toxic with a history of harassing new staff and breaking them down. Care Custody and Control - working in Alberta Corrections was toxic, staff shoving each other under the bus for the next advancement opportunity. Majority of staff deal wirh Mental health crisis. 

What is the best part of working at the company?
Solid employer with public service mission.

Over promising to stakeholders 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Professional and family friendly 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Early morning everyday with multiple projects but DOJ is able to meet most objectives

Ineffective Supervisors who don’t have the desire to deal with performance issues of unethical, lazy people and push more on and expect more from the hard working ones.  Control freaks who need to retire or move on, their only skill is making a schedule, gossiping and causing drama.

An interesting and challenging law enforcement job. I met some excellent people, and also increased my knowledge considerably.

Some managers were quick to turn against people who seemed too happy though, accusing them falsely of using drugs, and refused to acknowledge signs of stress in others. Apart from the political hack managers, a good job.

Unfortunately in Government there is a constant battle between the needs of the Albertan vs the budgeting of providing the programs. Needs to adapt to the current needs of what people need not keep offering services in the same way.

Care, Custody and Control over inmate population at Edmonton Remand Center, Edmonton Young Offender Center, Belmont Correctional Center and Fort Saskatchewan Correctional Center.

Keep your head down and focus on your job.  Ignore the noise, it's just a distraction again your intended goals. Take pieces of knowledge from multiple employees and create your new leadership style. Stay out of the drama, and politics.

This job is a very fast paced and challenging position. I have been there for 10 years and quite like it.  I plan on being there till I retire in 9 years

Best job and people with tremendous support.Collegial working environment and best place to learn Canadian criminal law and trial procedure for young lawyers.
