Decent 9 to 5 hours for those with family *unless in the lab then you have stupid hours, albeit with overtime*
Salary is over-average for the region which is nice and the benefits pckg is why so many people tough it out there, it's good. Good overtime offers for many. 

Job security is minimal, linked entirely to your 'chargeability', so you have to make them money. Not charging enough hours to a project and you get called out, told to improve (as if you have control over this) or possibly let go.
Any suggestion of investment or training to improve service is generally frowned on or doubted, as this costs money. High achievers are not valued, as they are costly. They seem to prefer middle to low workers, people who maintain the status quo and have no interest in being the best. Promise of "OneAMEC", with projects all over is very empty - this does not happen to any but a few senior folk.

Learned to swallow pride and wander around the building begging PM's for work. 
Good access to other AMEC employees and offices, though - can beg them for work via email.

The best part was working on DuPont Projects, and using PDMS.
Site work on DuPont Projects was also very enjoyable, and both construction supervisors were supportive and appreciative of my work.
Unfortunately proper PDMS training was never provided despite repeated requests for it.
The way people regard Piping Design within the Mining Design group, is creating a serious feeling of lack of consideration toward the designer.
 

Responsible to create and update electrical single line diagrams, preparing area classification drawings in coordination with electrical engineers and other discipline engineers. Preparing electrical drawings including schematics drawing, wiring diagrams, motor control schematics, electrical installation details and panel schedules. Create and update grounding layout, lighting/panel layout, electrical equipment layout to meet applicable codes and client specifications. Input data into SmartPlant Electrical (SPEL), maintain SPEL database and generating cable schedule, reporte equipment list, load list and motor datasheet.

I felt that there were no boundaries for advancement to gain knowledge and to advance my career, The work places were ergonomically designed for comfort the working relationship with fellow workers was a great experience in around and away from the office, Management were supportive in all aspects of the job whether it was salary expectations or time off, The hardest part of the job were to limit yourself to the number of hours work and go home to your loved ones a typical day was rewarding and educational.

I worked for the Training and Development department, formerly known as Transtech Interactive which interviewed me by telephone back in late summer 2002.
My work interval with the department was from October 2002 until December 2005 during which I worked on various projects and the department went through a hiring binge and later downsizing prior to releasing me from renewed employment contracts.
Overall, I sincerely enjoyed working with all the staff and made many lifelong friends.

I worked with Amec for about 10 years. The people there were like my family. We worked as a team, no glory seeking, no back stabbing. We knew that we were working for a highly reputable company and we knew that we were truly valued.
Things changed when Foster Wheeler came on board. And then things went really bad when they were bought out by Wood. Our contributions were no longer valued and there wasn't any show of loyalty to the employees.

AMEC was a very exciting and growing company to work for. This is an international engineering company and is involved in all types of infrastructure development work. They trat thier employees well and have fully sponsored comapny function to show their appreciation for their employees. The CEO makes an effort to meet all employees across the globe. The employees are very welcoming and supportive in grwoing your career. Career advancement is availbale for talented employees

I have enjoyed working here, the people are great very open and friendly, by far one of the better companies I have worked for.  Management is at the same level as the employees, so one acts or is seen to be superior. Their doors are open at all times and there is an ease in communicating with them.
The DMG group worked collaboratively together, we were an effective team and also were able to come together and have some fun, potlucks and birthday celebrations.
