Nice attractive store to work in and beautiful merchandise to sell. Management promised to be supportive and that they would provide time and adequate training to learn and grow with the job, but that was all just talk. Manager placed ridiculously high personal sales goals despite lack of customers. Manager preached to the employees on how important it was to be as fake and aggressive as possible with customers and to not educate customers on what they were buying or the quality of the items. I was taught to and expected to practically jump onto the backs of customers within seconds of the customer even glancing into the shop showcase. (*Tip* manager will be just as fake with their employees as they are with their customers). I recived about a week of minimal training and after that was expected to perform the same if not better then employees that had been there for years. Manager supported and encouraged childish and catty gossip among employees and used this to manipulate employees. You get paid minimum wage to just a couple dollars over minimum wage to work with toxic manipulative people in a high stress high pressure environment. They do try to tempt you with promise of comission to pad your meager pay cheques, but you have to meet your high personal sales quota first. they always find a way to avoid giving you your commission using an abundant amount of excuses. I had the fact that I was "lucky enough" to get paid $12 an hour waved over my head like I had been blessed by the retail employment gods. Manager consistently on your back about "bringing your sales numbers up", but never gives you even a pat on the back when you do. Unless you enjoy the idea of working in a personal torture that's a mix between your worst high school drama memories and slave labour, don't even bother applying here. But if this by chance sounds like the exact job for you, I advise that you put on your resume and job application under your personal qualities and beneficial skills: "has no self respect or any idea of self worth", "loves working like a dog and enjoys being treated even worse then one". If you put anything along those lines in your resume I'm sure you will make it to the top of the pile. Good luck to you!

The culture we’ve been encouraged to build through the support of the company.   A small company owned and operated by a family that genuinely care about their employees.

Finding employees with common sense who are passionate about and genuinely invested in the business, are team players, are driven to be successful and looking to grow with the company.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Very supportive, respectful and fun. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
It depends on how busy we are with customers, but there’s always something to do.  Merchandising, tidying showcases, dusting, training, following up with emails, etc.

I have worked for Ann Louise jewellers for many years and have liked that they are a family run business, and not a corporate company that only runs for profit.  They have provided hands on training and always offer great quality to their clients.  The Head office staff are amazing and personable, always there to support staff and their managers. 
Retail isn't for everyone, but if you are sociable and like to make professional relationships with customers, you are highly encouraged to do so, which makes for a welcoming environment for both staff and customers. 



Poor management.  Hiring non experience, no jewellery experience to run the high end jewellery store, that will tell you all about management.
They give minimun commission or even no commission because you have to reach your personal quota.  No support from Area Manager to Store Manager, they only care about sales number, no work culture or the management even don't talk to you.   Very high turn over with staff, if you are thinking part time job ignore all the bad work culture thing and minimum paid, then apply for this company.  Otherwise apply somewhere else.

When there was a change in management it became mentally abusive. The manager that hired was awesome, his replacement ruined the joy of the job. It’s a very competitive work environment because of commission. Discounts and product are nice. You have to be thick skinned to work there.

My employer was great at training me for the job and is talented in his ability to sell merchandise. The store and my coworkers promoted a good working atmosphere and it encouraged me to look forward to my next shift. I would believe that if I were to ever look back and remember working there; I would never regret the experience I gained from working there.

It's nice and relaxing environment. Everyone at the Richmond location is friendly and willing to help you, unlike typical luxury sales jobs where colleagues stab you in the back to gain credit. 

My colleagues and manager are nice. They taught me a lot and I really enjoy working there. So glad to be part of the team. The culture is good. The hardest part is, it can be boring sometimes if there is no customers. Overall, I like working there.
