I would strongly advise considering other job opportunities outside of API due to several ongoing issues within the company. Here are some of the challenges faced by employees:

*Poor Management: Leadership fails to provide adequate guidance, resulting in a lack of direction and support.

*Excessive Workload with Insufficient Compensation: Employees are often overworked and underpaid, with little recognition for their efforts.

*Micromanagement: There is constant monitoring of employee activities, even extending to personal moments such as restroom breaks. This invasive approach undermines trust and autonomy.

*Lack of Employee Acknowledgment: Management seldom recognizes the hard work employees put in, instead focusing primarily on mistakes and inefficiencies.

*Favoritism: Employees who maintain close personal relationships with management are favored, while others are overlooked, creating an unbalanced work environment.

*Inadequate Pay for the Workload: The compensation does not align with the demands placed on employees.

*No Sick Days: Employees are not provided with paid sick leave, which significantly affects work-life balance and well-being.

*Confidentiality Issues: Conversations with management are not kept private, as office gossip often leaks to other employees.

*Overbearing Surveillance: There is a pervasive culture of monitoring and reporting, where employees feel as though they are being constantly watched.

* Manager is more focused on what to eat than to take care of her departments .

In short, the work environment at API is incredibly challenging, and for many, it might be more desirable to explore other opportunities that value employees' time and contributions.



This place is an absolute nightmare to work for. Management is a complete disaster — rude, arrogant, and totally unprofessional. They treat employees like machines, not human beings. There’s zero respect, zero support, and zero appreciation.

Micromanagement is out of control. Every single move is watched and criticized. You can’t even take a bathroom break without someone questioning you. The supervisors and managers act like they own you, not like they’re part of a team.

Communication doesn’t exist here unless it’s to blame or yell at someone. Managers have no idea how to lead — they just bark orders and point fingers. And don’t waste your time trying to complain, because upper management is just as bad. They protect each other, ignore problems, and sweep everything under the rug.

There’s no recognition for hard work, no pay raises, and no basic respect. The workplace is toxic from top to bottom — full of favoritism, stress, and negativity. Morale is always low because everyone is overworked, disrespected, and fed up with the way things are run.

A day at work would be monitor signals of alarm system like Fire, Panic, Medical and Burglary for residential and business. Call customer to find out they are safe and if necessary dispatch appropriate authority. Also take inbound from service provider to put system on test or process customer inquiries. I learned how security system works and industry.Management is expecting operators to work like a machine. No sick days with minimum benefit. Have to get approval from supervisor to go washroom or go to kitchen to get a drink. Not much support from management for anything.  They provide basic training but so much more to know to be an operator. After training not much support you can get, then if you make mistake you will be written up and let go. Don't bother to give you feedback or further training.They love to fire people. That's why they put job postings all the time. Co-workers are great. Since managements are not helpful we have to help each other. The hardest part of the job is operator's ability is very limit. The enjoyable part of the job is sense of helping people but 99% of signals are false alarm.

Working in this environment has been an incredibly stressful experience due to poor management and lack of organization. The management team is ineffective, often making last-minute decisions without considering how it affects employees. There is little to no communication between upper management and staff, which creates confusion and frustration. Expectations are often unrealistic, and instead of providing proper guidance, management tends to place blame on employees when things go wrong.

The workload is overwhelming, and there is little support or recognition for the effort employees put in. The stress level is extremely high, and instead of fostering a positive work environment, management contributes to the negativity. Employee concerns are frequently ignored, and there is a general lack of respect for work-life balance. High turnover rates are a direct result of the poor leadership and toxic atmosphere. Overall, this workplace needs serious improvement in management and employee relations.

	•	Strict and often unfair disciplinary actions (e.g., write-ups for minor issues or during shift transitions)

	•	Negative culture where mistakes are highlighted more than achievements

	•	Lack of trust among coworkers; reporting on each other is common

	•	Limited flexibility with vacation or shift swaps; approval process is inconsistent

	•	Poor work-life balance and high turnover due to frequent terminations and resignations

	•	Overtime opportunities depend on performance, attendance, and staffing shortages

	•	Reports of DISCRIMINATION within the workplace

	•	Overall TOXIC ENVIRONMENT with stress levels far exceeding compensation

I got fired without giving any probable cause or any reason in the most disrespectful manner. The reason is that they don't care about you. They don't care how hard you worked or how much you dedicated. People are of 2 types in that office: the ones who twiddle their thumbs and the people who do the work of group one in addition to their own work. The ones who twiddle their thumbs are the ones with personal friendships with the supervisor. The working environment is influenced by favoritism and discrimination. They want to get around it. That's why they are always hiring because people either get fired or they quit all the time. If you care about your dignity and well-being, keep miles away from this floor.

New management has taken over and made this job unbearable.  There is no job security and you will be fired for disagreeing with these new changes. Management is fine with this negative culture, even if it means that the people who are dealing with the lives of others are unhappy. Turnover is at an all time high and with every memo they find more and more things to take away from their employees - you even have to ask for permission to use the bathroom.

If you enjoying yelling at people you should apply for this job. It means you will surely be promoted; without consequence.

-Learned alot about emergency response and how to handle a client who is frustrated and sometimes scared
- Management was great but things have changed and its not co-operative with its employees
- Co-workers are great, we all work well together in a team
- Hardest part of the job would be the management not recognizing a job well done and helping you move ahead in the company
- The most enjoyable part of the job will be speaking to different callers and every situation is different, some what thrilling.

The management at API ALARM can care less about giving you an orientation as to what you should be doing, they will tell you what is required leave you alone and then walk away from communication. There is favoritism especially when managers choose to communicate with. Lack of team communication when updates are needed. Forget about team leadership as they can care less about following up with there staff. Management will pretend to care about their team only when needed.

Just the location that's it nice high end building that's it.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Management and Horrible Supervisors

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Very racial company  supervisors seem to favor others...management loves to breathe down your neck on calls when there's hardly anybody on the floor.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Waste of time...getting cursed by dealers and home owners waiting on que for more than 10 min.
