What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Lack of on-boarding. Tedious and old-school paperwork, very little automation in paperwork. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Friendly, open-minded. Student-success focused.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Standard higher education days and schedules.

Teaching has always been a passion of mine.  I find nothing more enjoyable than teaching or educating a group of people who are genuinely interested in learning about a specific topic.  Obviously it is inevitable one or two (or more) rotten apples will be found in every group of students, hey that's life.  The trick is not to let it bother you too much and to concentrate of all the good students, the ones who want to learn and do the work.

I instructed a relatively small class of women of all ages to the introduction of computers.  I instructed the class on setting up emails accounts, the basics of computer application Word 98

I learned that each individual understands at different levels and gave me opportunity to work one on one with some.

I enjoyed the camaraderie amongst us

This is an elected position. I was president and it was a lot of fun and hard work. It can be tough because you have to be a student to be elected. So you work and go to school in the same place. Super busy. Do not let your job here take priority over your studies. This is a great opportunity for personal growth. You learn how to function as a team. You are given help and guidance by staff who were a great support and a lot of fun! Don't run for council unless you intend to help fellow students through your representation.

During my employment at Assiniboine Community College I learned various software applications (Microsoft Office, Outlook Express, Visio, etc.)

I enjoyed working as a team with my co-workers and the management team.

As an Evening Programs Instructor it was hard to work a full day and then teach for approximately 3 hours in the evening.

The management and staff were excellent in providing a creative learning environment in meeting the needs of the students. As a instructor in one of their programs, they were very supportive, open to new ideas and flexible.

Bullying is commonplace, management and coworkers are rude, unsupportive, there is a high turnover of staff, incorrect recruitment stats, and unacceptable student experience -many students leave after a few month and lose time and money.  Time for a serious change in mgt as we taxpayers fund this disgrace.

Working at the college was a good job for the most part. Lots of slow days. Lots of politics and egos to deal with but the work itself wasn't too difficult. They are not open to change very often and there was definitely a lot of favoritism happening too. 

Human resources did not exist when I worked for this establishment. Multiple circumstance of racist slurs by employees about students or staff. Bulling was clearing happened from upper management. Unprofessionalism by upper management caused many problems

It was agreat experience and worked very well with students and faculty. It was a 10 month position that I fulfilled. I would be happy to work with ACC again if and when the opportunity would become available.
