-completing daily tasks, working with a team
-welcoming environment
-questions/concerns answered in a timely manner, helpful staff all-around
-management is lenient, understanding and flexible during Covid-19, allowing employees to work from home (forever thankful for the flexibility and understanding I was given during this time)
-continually learning new procedures (which is educational & beneficial, but also time consuming when there are continual changes made to current procedures)
-friendly atmosphere, although constant tension between co-workers (past disputes, arguments, underlying issues & disagreements)
-no feedback provided/no praise for good work or going above & beyond (a simple "thank you" goes a long way)
-tasks forwarded from management, employee completing said tasks, and management taking credit for work completed (most frustrating part of the job: being discredited)
-high turn-over rate (potentially due to the lack of communication and confrontation between management and staff)
-inadequate salary and benefits (virtually no benefits, other than vision)
-unnecessary email chains/forwards
-no room for advancement (in purchasing department)

AVL Manufacturing runs an assembly line, not an apprenticeship program. Electrical work is largely basic, non-live, and repetitive, with no formal training structure, clear mentorship, or defined learning path for apprentices. Training depends entirely on who happens to be available, and expectations shift between “the right way,” “your way,” and “AVL’s way” — even when work follows internal practices, criticism still follows.

Suitable for production work, not for apprentices seeking real electrical development or professional growth. I would wait another 6-months to a year until this is brought to light and addressed more formally by the owner or upper management. 

My experience at AVL Manufacturing has been exceptionally positive. It's a workplace where professionalism and growth opportunities are highly valued by management.

CEO and Management lead very well and treat all staff with respect. Management gets involved in projects which helps them observe other staff members’ strengths and versatility in handling assigned tasks as well as establish strong work relationships and become one team. Management also checks up on all staff to ensure their well-being is balanced and encourage to voice any concerns. I’ve been here for over four months now and am learning as I’m challenged daily. Work meetings and functions avg. once a month and allows all staff to talk amongst each other and even make new friends. Great place to work!

Was hired with promises, most didn't happen. Management is...oblivious at times. Too many meetings to discuss meetings. Very little actions. Building doesn't have insulation, or air ventilation. Meaning no AC and no furnace. Only wall heaters, with no insulated walls. Makes sense right?
Crazy schedules, results in miss-managed and problematic projects. (Late nights & weekends regularly)
Owner thinks he knows what to do all the
 time, yet doesn't understand he has/had more qualified employees under his payroll that can make him alot more money. He generally runs them out after a little while. Likes to hire inexperienced staff outa school, thinking its saving him $$$

A fast paced environment,  dealing with High End clients,  In a modern and professional manner . This company employees  are of the highest standards,  so support from seasoned professionals was always available  and not only offered but expected. Team work is the glue that binds this very impressive  High End  manufacturer and supplier to the "Oil Feild" Industry.  I had the pleasure of dealing with the owner on a daily and first name basis,  this made the experience a enjoyable and profitable  one for both the company and myself. Did a fair amount of travel on behalf of the company,  I was always treated with respect, because I was part of a trusted team of professionals.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Great expansion, building restoration, new layout and the production has to go on, so a lot of task to manage.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Multicultural and quite. Respect, hard work and dedication are strongly appreciated.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Start at 7.00 am with our daily safety briefing with my manager. Perform different tasks, related to facilities maintenance. During the day, manage different departments request and issues.

AVL has gone thru ups and downs over the years but things are different now. Business is booming, order backlog is into 2025 at least and a lot has been done to make it a better place to work - all new office space built with huge windows with further expansion ongoing. Shop has been expanded and cleaned up with new equipment installed.
AVL is very agile when it comes to problem solving, management is understanding and is here to help you. The business is expected to further expand in the next few years which presents unique opportunity for anyone from office employee to the the shop.

There are many knowledgeable people who work there. Engineering, Electricians , fabricators, If you are skilled you will enjoy working there. There is praise when praise is do. They've asked people to stay late on several occasions however they don't pay overtime after 8 hours in a day they paid after 42 hours in a week so a lot of guys don't like that because they do ask you to stay and it's always short notice so if you're single and you can you know got a free schedule you can make it happen

AVL is a small manufacturing company that is incompetent and inexperienced when it comes to engineering. Management knows absolutely nothing about the process and steps required to complete detailed engineering. Budgets and schedules are unrealistic. Designers are expected to work long hours with no overtime pay. The owner is completely clueless when it comes to technical discussions. I would not recommend this company unless you are a new graduate looking for your first job. There is very high employee turnover and it is for good reason.
