I have been a long time employee of Able and seen a lot of things happen.  There is a lot of negativity from the management team and we rarely see anyone unless it is to give us trouble about something.  The job itself is what you would expect for landscape maintenance and it's great but the morale is terrible.  Everyone is just told they are not doing enough and to go faster but there is never any praise when something gets done ahead of schedule.   Some of the staff are really great people but are quick to judge.  The pay is pretty decent however there is no direct deposit option and the pay stubs are very difficult to understand (IF you even get a stub at all).   You can get benefits but it takes forever to get anywhere unless you are with the "in" crowd.  The hours are a little crazy but not terrible, it is expected that you work long hours, 6 days a week (hours banked after 80) but then if you need a Saturday off you get the stink eye for it and if you want to take out your banked hours it is a difficult task usually just given to you as time off with pay.

Overall It is an ok place to work but i wouldn't spend a lifetime here.

Day to day work priorities and scheduling are chaotic, leading to daily stress on mostly all employees. Management takes responsibility for documenting all employee hours (no employees are trusted to fill out their own time-sheets). Numerous other workers have discussed worked hours going missing, with our pay stubs being half filled out on pen and paper. Equipment is maintained at a barely safe standard (if safe at all) while employees are still pushed to use unsafe equipment and vehicles on a daily basis. The owner of the company is highly difficult to deal with in any manner, and constantly threatens job security for many employees. The only thing I can recommend about Able Landscaping Ltd, is that you should avoid it.

Working here over the past year and a bit, I have seen many changes that really brought Able back to where it was before (I worked here many years ago as well).

Management has changed, the owner has taken over the day to day operations, and lots of the previous issues have gone away as a result.

They have also gone digital, including timesheets and payroll.

This is a commercial landscaping job, so at times you have to bear the elements, but for most of the time, it is great to be working outdoors!

You will fit in great here if you are self motivated and can work independently.  

Able Landscaping where I work is a really very good environment. Pays good. I have been working for a year.All the co-workers and staff members are very cooperative and the culture is very motivating : ). From there I learned great customer service skills and good communication skills as well.  Great management team and the owner is very responsible and respectful.

Very toxic atmosphere, payroll is messed up and has no clue what's going on, no job security.    If you mess up, you are blamed, sat without pay until hours are used up then fired. Everyone is always cranky and negative.   Whenever you want time off you get told no or are bitched at for taking the time off.   Holidays are never paid out, if you have over 80 hours and there is a holiday you will not get the extra 8 hours on your paycheck.

When workers do show up to work and someone gets loaded up with no-show guys work

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Safe and sound work practices

Company provides hands on training on all equipment to be used. Very safety conscious. Site safety assessments are in a team environment ensuring all workers are aware. Management is very knowledgeable and wants all workers to be successful. The work is weather dependant so work days or hours can be changeable.

Found the staff and manager great to work with. Like that they have direct deposit. Pros left alone to get the job done. Cons Owner can be difficult when things are going wrong. 

Once you leave the shop with your assignment for the day the work is self-directed. Management was approachable and supportive. This is a fast-paced environment with a good team atmosphere. 

If you are able to work independently and like to work outdoors, this is a good gig.  The owner takes care of his employees, especially if you are able to do the work without having to be checked in on.
