My typical day required me to be a resource to safety for safety related issues. I assisted with safety administrative duties, as well as participating in progress and city meetings. Providing customer service to all site, staff management, contractors, and subcontractors was one of the most enjoyable parts of my job, as I enjoy working with people, and more importantly as a team.

I organized and attended weekly on-site safety meetings with crews, and participated in training offered to enhance knowledge and experience. Reviewed daily Field Level Risk Assessments, and conducted site specific inspections,as well as completed required daily and weekly safety documents. 

One of my major duties consisted of conducting work area walk through inspections and making necessary suggestions to the workforce. Ensuring workers followed company, and client procedures, and policies was sometimes a challenge, however, I enjoy challenges, and find that due to my exceptional communication/people skills, I excel in this area.
Working with my co-workers on this project was very enjoyable, as all were very down to earth, and hard workers, I would highly
recommend this company to anyone.

All teams collaborate and communicate extremely well and stakeholder input is considered valuable. Although design-build projects can be fast paced and stressful at times, Acciona's teams weather these scopes in friendly and consultative manners and everyone has fun in the process. 

Acciona's DB projects are well organized and well orchestrated as are their construction schedules, policies and procedures.  Witnessing Acciona execute their projects is something to behold!

Great opportunity for professional growth and industry exposure. I've had the chance to work on large-scale infrastructure projects, collaborate with skilled professionals, and take on responsibilities that have significantly expanded my technical and project management experience.

The learning curve is steep, and you're often trusted with meaningful tasks early on, which is great for developing hands-on skills. The team environment is generally supportive, and I've appreciated the open communication with colleagues and management.

That said, one of the drawbacks is the lack of overtime pay, which can be discouraging given the long hours that are sometimes expected. While the experience gained is invaluable, better recognition for extra effort would go a long way in improving work-life balance and overall employee satisfaction.

Overall, it's a solid company for engineers looking to gain real-world experience and grow professionally, especially early in their careers.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Pays decent other then that nuthin. Most unorganized yahoos around. Unsafe no tool box meetings no safety meetings. Upper management don't speak english

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Don't ask for ot always expected. Superintendent doesn't speak English, safety is absolutely horrendous. Cso knows absolutely nuthin on safety how to rescue or save a life.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Horrible a bunch of cowboys who suck at there job.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Thrown into a mad show with no supply's no material no leadership

Sadly a project with enormous potential is not doing well.  Senior management was brought from Dubai and they don't understand Canada at all and some big mistakes have been made.   Acciona has been firing people, all of them locals.  As a result, people are afraid.  Turnover is high.  People leave every week.  Morale is not good.  No promised bonus was paid.  Pay is not competitive.  Be aware that Acciona was kicked off North Shore Wastewater and the same thing may happen to this project.  Do you want that on your resume? 

Spent 8 years on the company. Started in Spain and they gave me the opportunity to work and life in Australia, from which I started my international experience, got my Australian Citizenship and allowed me to now move and work in Canada.

Need to work really  hard, but really good people in there and able to make many contacts which I keep today.

Only problem is that opportunities for grow were difficult as not many high available positions which is what made me move.

At the beginning of the project, upper management from Spain needed to be involved with all decisions, no matter how small.  Infighting between divisions required 21 signatures to issue a PO.  Eventually this was reduced, but mismanagement on all levels makes for a very confusion and difficult work environment.  

The management and supervisors only care about themselves. They come up with illogical ways of doing things for cleaners that make no sense, just  to justify their own existence. When 5 people quit in a span of two weeks, you know there are issues! 
Way too much nepotism and hiring of people of the same language and culture, with some that have very poor language skills!

Direct supervisor is a joke, no Management skills whatsoever.  Hard work for very little pay.  Trying to get vacation time off was next to impossible.  Was hired as full time with benefits but had to keep bugging supervisor for benefit package.  New hires paid more than staff that have been working for over a year and wages not re addressed.  Nepotism and clique.

Acciona is an amazing company to work for. You received hands on training, as well as further training, as your experience with Acciona grows. The support staff and management team are so supportive and approachable. I am looking forward to new adventures within the company.
