Accredited Supports to the Community

Each workday, I would contact, book and scheduled/attend home visits with parents with children between the ages of 0 -6 years old .  I would provide information on parenting, child development, community resources and advocacy as needed.  Often the visits allowed parents to talk about their concerns or issues about raising their children.  I was able to transport parents and children to appointments or other agencies to help them access services as needed. 
I spent at least half of my workweek completing electronic case notes and other office needs, research for client appointments and attending committee and staff meetings as needed.  

The hardest part of the job was leaving the client's issues and concerns at work.  The most enjoyable part of the job was seeing  parents overcoming problems or difficulties that might have prevented them from being fully present to parent their children. 

I was part of a team of 7 home visitors although none of us worked in the same office as we covered a very large geographical area in Central Alberta.

What is the best part of working at the company?
The staff and clients are less stressful.  Focusing on one task at a time, work and funtime with kiddos gives you opportunity to deal with different behaviors and techniques in providing support and care. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The work is easy job just sometimes the kiddos keep you up with running around and this might lead to burnout. In a rare occasion.

Easy and the environment is safe for all 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Come in as usual and welcome the kiddos, engaging them in activities. Supporting kids to play around and making sure the environment is safe for all.

Interviews are great. Training for the most part is fantastic. There is a lack of follow through in the care homes. Often more acceptable to bend the rules than follow them.  Quality of ethics from leadership affects how each home runs. They promote advancement but there is very little room for it.  Within care homes it is very clicky. Not about the quality of skills or performance but rather if the management likes you. Reporting procedures are are far too often subjective and only as honest as the person writing them .

scheduling when there isn't enough staff

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
wonderful. It's like being a part of a family of great people

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
it goes by fast because there's lots to do

Expectations for employees is very high. When they need shift coverage you are guilted into taking more shifts due to staff shortages. Being available for all shifts (24 hour group homes) is required. The shift work is hard on the body and not enough days off in between to recover. Pay is not the best. "Clicky" administration team. If you want to be run into the ground work for ASC!!

This company doesn’t seem to really care about it’s staff. Management takes your concerns seriously to your face then don’t do anything to help once the conversation is over. They give you a false sense of feeling supported. The environment is toxic. 

You’re just a number in their books. No support when needed, no life to work balance. Don’t have their work in order. Office staff only care about themselves and frontline fend for themselves. 

The “higher ups” sure put on a good show and make it seem like a great place to work. Except for it felt like they didn’t know what was going on with their clients or not putting their needs first. Said the right things, followed up by no actions 

The idea of what they go is good but worst please to work.
Under pay,
overwork no help or support
management is bad 
It just seem so unfair and alot of favouritism.
