At first Action Group seemed promising. I worked casually at Learning Circle and enjoyed it. However, that took a drastic turn when I was completely unable to get ahold of any sort of management or HR for any reason. They would not respond to calls or emails and would say that they needed to meet to go over things but would not reach out or set anything up. The company is completely disorganized, with no training, no hours and low wages. Many of the staff were on medical or stress leave. A lot of the individuals I came across were high needs and lower functioning, yet no training was provided to feel like you understood how to best work with them. Definitely would not recommend.

A typical day supporting the individual was the best part of working there. I learnt a lot about the management style. Management set out unrealistic rules to follow that put staff in a difficult and unsafe situation. Some of the staff did not follow the procedures set out for staff causing the individual to receive mixed messages and behaviors that could be avoided/ prevented. Also caused a trip to ER with permanent damage to the individual. The most enjoyable part was working directly with the indivdual the  staffing team that followed protocol.   

If you like staff members swearing foul language and the management not doing anything about it then this would be a great place for you to work.  If you enjoy being bullied by staff members and having your concerns not addressed, then this would be a great place for you to work.  Go to work sick always and pass germs on to everyone else.  Text always to other staff in the building during the day, you will be sure to have a full time position, naming your hours and days you want to work which may surround your child's hockey games.  The clients are super but will be ignored by staff who prefer to text or do as little as possible.

I worked at Action Group for a short period of time and experienced possibly the worst management ever. To start, my interview was not completed by the person it was supposed to be done by. I was offered a position and then given an entirely different one with no answer to my inquiries about it. Supervisor was catty and gossiped about not only other staff but the individuals within the group home. The only pro about the job was the pay, and even then on irregular and casual employment it wasn’t much. Some coworkers were great— but others were much like the supervisor and very negative. 

This is a company that covers its own administrative butt before being concerned with protecting or backing up employees or its individuals in care. While the salary and benefits are good, the company is shady when it comes to protecting employees, as well as firing people for unreasonable reasons. Several people have been let go for insufficiant reasons, and many of the guardians of former inviduals in care have removed their family members due to insufficient care and general BS they had to deal with from the company itself.

This was my first support worker job, and I loved the actual work itself, the clients, and the benefits which the company provided (flexible schedule, good pay, easy to pick up more hours if needed). The people in the company are petty, full of gossip, and are more focused on serving their own self-interests than on providing quality care and support for their clients. There are many awesome individuals who work for the action group, but management is hard to deal with and show extreme favoritism among staff. It is not a consistent or friendly work environment.

Absolutely loved my time working with Action Group!  I loved being part of a company that is very client focused. They do such a great job at finding different ways to include clients into their communities. I felt very proud and purposeful going to work everyday! They make the time for employees to have client specific education. Action Group has set high standards for me that I look for in other future Healthcare career opportunities!

my job consists me of helping my clients do day to day living basics like cooking, banking, medication administration and keeping up with their daily hygiene. I get along with all my co-workers and they are geniue people who have huge hearts. The hardest part of my job is dealing with all the different behaviors that my clients havem, but even with their behaviors my job is not that hard. I definitely enjoy making a difference in their lives, and just helping people in general.

The useless management and the way they treat their staff and the individuals.

Shady at best. Lots of favouritism and the Filipinos gang up on other staff so they can be mean and lazy

The training is to slack and not though enough.

It  can be high stress at times with high behaviors.

It's busy but usually pretty rewarding knowing you are caring for clients in need.
