it was a really nice place to work at a lot of the employees helped me gain knowledge about the automotive industry. Sometimes we would have free breakfasts and lunch's by the owner from him to us as a thank you for all the hard work and it was really nice to work with people like them because they gave me the positive energy to come in everyday of the week and work hard day after day. The most hardest part of the job was finding the prefect tires because sometimes i wouldn't find them and i use to get yelled at for that and also the most enjoyable part was learning, learning was the most enjoyable thing because every day i came into work i had learned from either from my co-workers or either from my mistakes everyday was like a new day

Showed up early for work everyday, hoping to get busy! Early morning is usualy the busiest. Be ready and willing to do lots of tires, flats and oil changes. Any interesting work is taken by the "old guard", guys that have been there the longest! You may sit on your bench for a few hours eveyday, due to lack of work, and then management calls you in because you're not producing enough hours!
Half the service advisors wouldn't even know how to check the oil in their own cars, so it's nearly impossible for them to even sell a badly required job on any vehicles!
You may be promisses $30 an hour but at the end of the day, when you have very few hours accumulated(flat rate), the pay is still minimal!

I have been employed with Active Green & ross for more than 7 years. I started as an apprentice and I am now a class A tech with Drive Clean test and repair. My employer and the AGR management team has ALWAYS encouraged me and my co-workers to do our best and has ensured that we have the appropriate training available to us (at there cost).

As I read so many negative comments about AGR all's I can say is its very easy to slam a company...maybe some of these people should look in the mirror because they are probably the cause of their discontent not to mention not even having the balls to identify what city they worked in.

A typical day consists of setting up appointments for customers to bring in their vehicles for a service. Assisting customers with any inquiries they may have and preparing work orders for the other employees to complete the work. I also handle the customer payments and order parts from the many different suppliers. From working here I have learnt many skills such as building my customer service skills and learnt to post invoices. The management is excellent, they are always there to help and assist you with any questions that you may have.

Active Green and Ross has a vast employees with knowledge and good work ethics,cant say the same about the owners.
The stores change hands to many times so rebuilding the business is a major task that takes years of customer building and regaining their trust,which most of the owners want to get in and make money right away .
They do not look at the big picture and see only what the g.p is today, don't get me wrong its a great company that needs more experienced people at the front running the ship and that good things take time and not to so fast at dismissing employees .

Don’t believe an ad that says you work 8 hr shifts.   You work from open to close (10 hours)  and and will get in trouble if you leave to take a break when it’s slow.  One owner watches cameras all day to see what you are doing.   They call people in even when they call in sick and make them work regardless of how sick they are.   Figure if you can’t serve customers directly you can answer emails or phones.  Promise you everything and then deliver nothing.   Do not work at any Stores owned by two Hamilton guys.  

i would never ever recomend service or employment in at Active Green and Ross. a typical day at work . \my boss comes in under the influence of drugs. he poorly organizes the work distribution. i learned to trust by instincts and never ignore them . my co workers were excellent poeople. getting authorization to complete repairs. wasdifficult. poor working equipment.

Great Management / Coaching from head office.
System is easy to learn and use, the other employees are friendly and helpful.
Can be a little high stress at times, but the other staff are helpful to make the stress seem less.

** Only issue is they Dock you an hour for lunch even when you don’t take the full hour or even a lunch at all, and they expect you to be 15-20 mins early everyday but they don’t pay you to be there. 

Other employees are super friendly and help you a lot, as well as don't ask for much but appreciate the help when you give it. I didn't get the opportunity to fully show what I could do and what I was capable of doing which led for me to be let go within a 3 month period which I am super disappointed about, but also disappointed in the reason why I was let go, which I'm not going to share.

This shop is a very busy one they have set people already and any new person is most likely gonna be let go before probation is up just for tire season or whatever they need done at the time they say they want to help you succeed but continue to make excuse’s and the manager is in for about 10-30mins a day to talk on the phone about football and when you go to ask a question it’s answered with another question
