At Acutruss, they will hire anyone under the sun, they are so desperate for people to work for them that no background checks are done and the hiring process is very short. They give people an opportunity to go to school to get a trade such as carpentry or being a mill wright, but they don't have anything to do with carpentry except from using a measuring tape and using a saw so don't expect much for training in carpentry aside from going to school for 2 months. Half the time you are training new people since the turnover rate is so high and they quit within a week of working at Acutruss. The work is very labour intensive and repetitive, by the time you get off work you don't feel like doing anything else so there isn't a lot of work-life balance. The hours are always going to be guaranteed 40 Hours a week and overtime is sometimes an option on weekends if they have enough people who are willing to stay. Overall this is a terrible place to work, everyone is miserable because they are underpaid and people are left with empty promises. Management never comes to see how you are doing, trust is low and employees are miserable, and they tolerate bad employees. You are better off looking elsewhere for work if you want to get into carpentry unless you'd want them to pay for your schooling. 

I thoroughly enjoyed the work, and enjoyed almost everyone I worked with. However, there's no incentive to work hard. Anyone who does, doesn't get compensated fairly for it, and in some cases is even paid less than others who everyone recognizes as less productive. Raises are ONLY on a set day, once a year and very minimal. And if you do manage to slog your way to a higher position, such as a supervisor, the pay versus what's expected of you is way out of balance. When you do manage to get access to the extended benefits, they are extremely poor and almost useless. I wasn't even able to get a pamphlet on what the benefits all covered before signing up, and anyone I asked honestly didn't know what they were paying for.

All this being said, it's an easy, fun at times job with some good people (as long as you have more than half a brain and can actually work). Great for getting apprentice hours and first few years of schooling to get in to the industry at the very least.

Honest work for terrible pay. Every employee of this company is viewed as replaceable. The wage is not anything a family could survive with. The management would rather replace someone rather then make the job worth the effort. Strong work ethic and dedication are not rewarded or even noticed by management and its noticed very soon after starting here. The one honestly good thing about this company is some of the people who work for it, and sadly they are all equally unappreciated.

Building trusses is not so bad. It can be heavy or cold/hot sometimes depending on the time of year, but there is always work for you. Very rarely do you find yourself looking for something to do. It can be repetitive but the days usually go by very quickly. Not a huge possibility of much advancement, but you could potentially end up as a designer in the future if you want to pursue that avenue. Overall not so bad if you are looking for something entry-level with some physical demands to keep you in shape.

Was fired for trying to pull money out of a group rsp account management set up , they don't want to help you at all they just expect 100 percent attendance and 110 percent motivation. A bad place to work don't let them sucker you in because you'll feel like your doing great they'll say how much they appreciate you and then literally do nothing to prove it. The management is a joke and the wages are way off for the intensity of labor every day

I enjoyed my time there. They put me through my level 1 carpentry red seal and were great guidance for helping take steps to advance within the company and in life.

Work environment is so cool and culture is good.

Some days when there are -25 .

Company really does not care about workers, all they care about is getting the product out the door.
Ran ragged each day trying to keep things working, machines spitting out ball bearings,
Never having enough stock to finsih the week always having to go to Management to get more stock.
if you get hurt make sure you document everything as you can never trust a company to be honest 

Management doesn't care about you . They will tell you that you are replaceable and treat you like it everyday. Everyone absolutely hates their jobs. Makes for a negative work environment. All the toxins you have to work around will probably give you cancer or make you sick better off finding work elsewhere. 

I enjoyed working at Acutruss, the job itself wasn’t not difficult, and won’t be if you can lift 75 pounds without struggling. The people that you work with are negative, but that doesn’t mean your outlook needs to be. I kept to myself and got the job done.
