I was surprised when they called me because I never applied to this company. I wasn't interviewed at all. The job description and the actual position were polar opposites. I worked at 6 nights and 1 day off rotation 12 hour shifts which meant I had to book all my check ups and family time into the day that got to recuperate. No other shifts were available. They had safety meetings every night which was good. I loved getting to know the other employees. However NDT reporting was the only thing I had to do all day long. I was writing up engineering reports that I didn't understand. There was only one day of training and no other help from the management team. There was no one to ask on nights. Great pay and camp was provided for certain employees that wanted it. Busing was provided for employees on a 7pm to 7 am shift. **Only down side was being stabbed in the back by a NDT technician who stole my position and got me fired. I returned my suncor badge to them but never got my personal belongings returned to me.

Everything they can do wrong they did. High turnover rate with staff and management. 4 safety managers in less than 3 years. Each one being worse than the previous. Was blatantly lied to on several occasions. Was promised 2x a raise and promotion, then had my wage cut by 1/2 without notification. The VP doesn't have a clue and keeps hiring unqualified, unprofessional staff.
They preach about the "Acuren Family", which is a complete farce.
After my wages are cut, I explain that I cannot agree to the new contract simply because I cannot pay my mortgage with a 50% pay cut. The following day, they treat me like I am being fired and escort me out and have the gall to tell me that I brought this upon myself.  
Never have I been treated so poorly by an employer.
I am just scratching the surface with all the bad things that go on there, happy to be gone.

Save yourself the nightmare and find a real company to work with.

Acuren will forever have my gratitude because they gave me job and helped me earn multiple trades tickets and pay off my student loans. 

-Lot's of job opportunities.
-Plenty of hours and OT for motivated individuals.
-Advancement is baked in. Figure out what ticket you need for a pay raise and contact the people you need to contact to get hrs, experience, etc.
-Lots of pretty incompetent people work in Acuren because of nepotism / cronyism.
-Also a lot of amazing people work here because it gives them contract flexibility and lets them spend 6 months on the road then 6 months at home. 
-Plenty of the work is exceptionally boring in less than ideal conditions. Think humidity 90% 40 degree plus mines or -40 degree climbing refinery towers in the winter.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Great team environment and the work is satisfying. Project work is satisfying as you get to see a job from start to finish 
The company appreciates hard work and has many benefits 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
12 h shifts are hard but every other company in oil and gas does the same 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Great coworkers and great team players. Everyone pulls together and looks out for each other 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Bus to site- planners assigns teams to each work order- the real leader assesses hazards while the rest of the team gears up at the tool crib. We get to the area where the work orders applied and get a permit from the permit office then review the safety aspects of the job then start to work. End of shift we go back to our office and lunch room to wait for the bus back to town - next day repeat

The pay and benefits are set by the union and aren't bad. Acuren however will find any loop hole not to pay you if they can find it.

Management is largely a popularity ladder, with family coming first. Likewise, in an incident the least popular person will usually take the fall so that managers can save face- even if they did no wrong.

It's an ongoing struggle to fight for pay or compensation, and unless your family or a close friend, your disposable.

Spent most my career with them. You can pay your bills with them, but your just a number to them. They usually have long term job security, as long as you don't anger management or make a mistake. Other employers would treat you better.

I would not recommend working here based on my experience. The work environment was disappointing, and I often felt that employees were not treated with the respect or support they deserved. Communication from management was inconsistent, and expectations could change without clear direction.

Morale was very low, and there was little recognition for hard work. There were opportunities to learn, but they were overshadowed by poor leadership and a lack of appreciation for staff.

I believe this company has significant room for improvement when it comes to employee support, communication, and workplace culture. I would encourage anyone considering a position here to ask detailed questions during the interview process about management style and training. 

Management treats field staff as second class citizens. Revolving door of technicians due to the continuous disrespect and outrageously rude, abusive behaviour of certain long term office staff. Also, can’t fathom how they manage to screw up payroll so badly, so often - been dealing with it for many years.

Promised lots of hours and all the training I needed.  The work was never ending.  You were made to feel guilty if you took a day off.  No work/Life balance at all.  The training never materialized.  The pay was low.  Management turns a blind eye to plenty that goes on there.  They preach and preach that they are a family, but, they don't follow through.  Many workers were quitting because of promises that were made that were continuously broken.  Was told my work week would be Mon-Fri 8am to 5pm.  Ended up working 6am to 6pm, mostly 7 days a week.  Was constantly reminded that the person who worked the position before me only took one day off a month.  That person quit too.

Not very consistent work. Hard and honest work, work doesn't get you anywhere. Friends of friends get hired into management positions, no clue/ no work ethics. Very monotonous work, no excitement. Hardest part is to stay all day and play along with their childish management games. Union and non- union employees are merged. Non union division isn't wanted and you can feel it. Not so bad for union employees due to the union backing them and arbitrary games can't be played.
Good bunch of field level employees, Supervision and up is useless. Worker constantly trying to fix managements mistakes, without appreciation.

Would get on the bus to the job site, go to the site trailer get ready head out the door put our cards on the board have our safety/tool box meeting for the day. head out to with the crew I would be assigned to view the scope of the job, write up the safety data sheet, go collect gear if needed, and begin to chain or rope up/down gear.  I was able to help  with deconstructing, modifying, and constructing scaffold. It was a good job and I really appreciated the time taken by my journey men and management. you were treated fairly and with respect and were part of the time it was a great experience and I look forward to the next  challenge.
