Management has no clue. Shop floor runs themselves with no control from management or engineering.

Management is just checkboxes and `what is the status` without making real decisions. They will call you on your personal phone during hours, after hours, constantly. They are also the first to take credit for ideas that are not their own, and if it fails... guess what!

Lack of planning results in priorities changing every second with no goal. No MRP, no sched, just fly by the seat of your pants & managed by excel spreadsheets! Yikes!

No vericut, no proper NC programming, no probing, operators run on the fly with no instructions. Operators allowed to modify NC programs on the fly (what! this is Aerospace!!) ME`s have no real knowledge. Scary!

Constant expectation of overtime with no real work.

Poor quality from suppliers. 

Poorly run company with typical American attitude. Avoid!

Majority of employees (100+) are contract during busy times, which says a lot about a company! Hire & `layoff`` aka fire. Typical American mindset.

Avoid.

I don't know what the fellow from Europe was going on about but this company is not an 'Aerospace' company making fly parts, it builds tooling that is used in the building of aircraft. No wonder he didn't like it here - he didn't understand what he was doing.

At my interview, I got a tour of the shop and a really good overview of what the company does and what my job would be like. There are lots of very skilled journeymen here and they take a lot of pride in their work. The shop is one of the cleanest you will ever see and they're always working on ways to improve things. 

It was slow this year so people worried about layoffs, but the company kept us all going and the work is picking up now. 

Management is easy to talk to and they do listen to suggestions. Lots of the improvements made on the floor came from the guys, and they get to be part of the team that makes it happen.

The pros far outweigh the cons here in my opinion. AIT has gone through many years of rapid growth due to larger scale projects, tighter deadlines and more complex designs from their customers. People often forget that AIT is a project based company, with many different and often conflicting schedules, AIT uses contract labour and overtime to fulfill these conflicts, but keep their core group intact, many employees are 10 plus year employees. There are aspects of the organization that are behind the times but they are always looking for ways to move forward. The shop (Canada)is one of the nicest, cleanest and brightest shops I have ever worked in. Pay is competitive (could always be better), benefits are standard and work schedules are flexible.

AIT has a high standard for all trades across the board, only employing the best of the best. Whether your in the machine shop, Fabrication shop, Assembly shop or supporting the floor, your skill as a qualified tradesmen/women will be challenged and stretched. An honest days work and the willingness to grow and get the job done skillfully, is all the company asks. If you are looking to work with a World leader in tooling manufacturing, Furthering your skill and challenging yourself, then this is the place for you!
 If you lack focus, think your a better tradesmen then you really are, or just can't handle a little pressure and OT to get the job done, then I wouldn't apply here if I were you...

AIT is a global supplier to the airline industry. They have a well developed workplace culture that relies heavily on the expertise and integrity of their employees. Because of rapid growth (in the company and the evolving marketplace) and demand for their products, management seems to always be playing 'catch-up'. However, they seem to be moving in the right directions; improving their already high quality work environment and employee development. Everyone I worked with took great pride in their individual work and in the company's end products. A great place to work.

I worked within this company in electrical and immensely enjoyed my time there.

Sadly I was hired on a contract and after a few renewals, work slowed down and I was laid off.

In my time there I learned an immense amount and was able to work on new and innovative technologies for manufacturing. The work environment and people were top notch. 

I would eagerly work again for this company.

If you have the opportunity of a job here, I highly recommend taking it as my experience working here was the best job I have had to date!

Identify bottle necks in the company. Provide feedback to top management bottlenecks and solutions. Monitor two plants capacity ongoing bases and provide input in accepting or rejecting jobs. Design processes and implement them. Develop process related tools.I work with in general other project managers and operation manager and General manager and supervisor and other management in the parent company in US. In process related subjects work with people from shop floor to office staff.

Excellent workplace.

Management makes an effort to engage employees.
Organization, cleanliness, and not cutting corners is a high focus.

Job security can be somewhat lacking due to the nature of the business when work drys up.

Job culture is good and the make an effort to look after employee essentials.

Work life balance is top notch. They appreciate your efforts and encourage a healthy balance in many ways.

I worked at AIT in Canada as a CNC operator. Coming from Europe originally, I have nothing positive to say about this company or work environment.

I feel like the people here think it sounds sexy to call this shop an "aerospace" shop, but actually its a poor quality industrial machining environment. Much different than where I come from!

Good for a first job, bad if you've actually worked in the real Aerospace Industry (actually making fly-parts).

I worked there several years ago. I quite liked working there. I found it interestring.

This is kind of a moot point now, since they're gone. 

I know lots of people that used to work there. 

That was their thing, the work wasn't steady, so when they had work they hired a bunch of people on a short term contract to put it together. Then when the job was done, everyone was gone.
