I have learned to be a great host, interacting with many different kinds of individuals and teams, each employee has been given a task specifically tailored to your own strength, and this lets you grow with your own skill and talent to give back to the company. I have learned to be organized and learned to adapt to the situation as well. I have improved as a customer service representative and learned skills along the way.

management, is strict as it should be. From the very start you are asked to follow and everything has been laid out for you, so its actually really easy as most of the instructions are readily available. If unsure, you can always ask. The company has a brand and it will sell itself as a brand. The management reminds you and empowers you to collaborate together as a team. This ensures the quality of the experience that customers are getting.

workplace culture, you are working with an awesome set of team with their own quirks. Work is always fun and their will always be new experiences everyday.

the hardest part of the job is keeping up with your own tasks. There will always be so many but if you follow your routine and organize it right, you will get there. There might be misses and mistakes along the way but that doesnt mean that you cant improve on it. 

the most enjoyable part of the job is hosting games, as every game will always be unique. The company makes sure your strengths will be empowered and you can work with your own skills. Workmates are always awesome and will always be ready to help. 

This job is great, and not for the feint hearted, because this job requires fun and passion, all mixed in the same blend. There will be times that you will have to learn from your mistakes and that means you are improving yourself and how you will be an asset to the company.

I worked here many years ago so I really can't comment on what the company culture is like there currently. I left ARC as my parter relocated to another city for their job. I miss working with Adventure Rooms, it was a lot of fun.

To be successful with Adventure Rooms there are a few KEY traits you should have. You should have a sense of humor, a positive attitude, good attendance and enjoy public speaking. It's also really important that you are able to keep the game items and puzzles a secret, no spoilers! 

The owner will do their best to help UNLOCK your full potential by offering a good amount of training and support. It's a smaller local business so don't expect many opportunities for advancement. The owner has a clear idea of what they want the business to be. Offering a 5 star experience to every guest is the number 1 goal. If you have a hard time accepting constructive criticism or following clear guidelines,  this might not be job for you.

My favourite part of the job was hosting the games. It never got old seeing how much fun the guests had. My least favourite part of the job was probably dealing with critical customers. But the owner backs up their puzzles and staff 100% so they were always available to help with the critics.

I don't know what the work life balance is there currently but I remember it being a bit tricky to get time off. One big thing to keep in mind is that Adventure Rooms Canada is a tourist attraction. The hours are going to reflect the needs of the business (afternoons, late nights, weekends and holidays). 

It was an amazing experience being an escape room specialist, truly a unique job.



I had an amazing time working for ARC. Management were great, as well as the rest of the staff - if any issues popped up, I could always count on my team mates to jump in and help. The only issue was the long hours - you could potentially be working for 12 hours at a time (or longer, if an issue came up). 

This would honestly be fine if we had a dedicated break time. We did have time in between scheduled games where you COULD take a break (so TECHNICALLY Ontario's mandatory 30 minute break rule was being followed), but because they're not dedicated break times, it was hard to justify not picking up the phone if it rang, or if a group came in early, you would likely get them started on their game instead of taking a break. Obviously, if your game happened to be completely booked from opening to close, combined with having no break and having to multi-task bookings and phone calls, on top of having no dedicated break times, staff were liable to miss things during the customer experience just out of pure mental exhaustion (team members were never happy if mistakes happened - the staff always wanted to put their all into giving customers an awesome experience!). 

In the short term, this job is absolutely perfect. I think if management wants to keep experienced members for the long-term, they really need to start considering how the demands of the job impacts their employees over a long period of time, which in turn leads to how well they can consistently execute the ARC experience with their guests.

Overall I enjoyed my time at Adventure Rooms. Coworkers were great and always ready to jump in and help when issues arised. No manager on site at Kitchener location, which raised issues around who to report to, and when serious issues did arise, staff were forced to figure it out themselves, or call the owner. 

Long hours were expected, sometimes over 12 hour shifts, and scheduling mostly wasn't respected, although it was made at least 2 weeks in advance which left lots of time to find someone to cover the shift. On fully booked days breaks were not possible, so expect to eat lunch/dinner while hosting a game. 

Owner would watch staff over cameras, and listen to conversations so be careful around what is said while on shift. 

Overall coworkers are great, and really enjoyed the job, but the owner has some very high standards which aren't always attainable with the scheduling in place between games. When running behind schedule staff are forced to either rush through cleaning and resetting games, or be late hosting the next game which sets the entire days schedule off, and results in upset customers. 


I'm a current employee at ARC heading into my mat leave. I absolutely love my job and LOVE ARC. If you are a fan of escape rooms or new to them ARC is a wonderful place to work. I came in not knowing a thing about escape rooms having never tried one and I've gained a new obsession.
This job has everything a customer orientated person could dream of!! 

The managment/owner is approachable, fair, kind and supportive 
The staff are friendly and helpful and so fun
The environment is fun and yes a little crazy sometimes but in a good way.


I enjoyed working at ARC in my year there. Management are great and personable people, coworkers were always a joy to work with. In all it was a pleasant work experience. Not perfect mind you, you will be likely working long shifts here with most of those being afternoon and evenings, so not recommended for morning people. You're given a fair amount of freedom in decision making when problem solving, so as long as you keep management in the loop and explain your thought process whatever solutions you deem best in an ambiguous situation. In all a good place to work, if you can deal with longer hours and ambiguity in some situations. 

ARC was a fun place to work, the job itself was very different than any previous jobs Iv'e had. Would recommend for a first job, or to anyone that has a very flexible schedule. Only concerning aspect was the climate of the work environment itself. Management was amazing, but it was evident that there were consistent subtle issues with the treatment of the staff. This job requires strong customer service, problem solving, and attention to detail skills.

As a 'people person" i loved interacting with the groups.  The focus is on fun so many laughs were shared.  The owner truly bends over backward to ensure duties are defined and understood. She also throws in so many extras....above minimum wage, health benefits, accomodating schedules, super clean and cosy work environment, employee appreciation. There is a reason this escape room is a 5 star experience.  I have nothing but good to say.

Adventure Rooms is a fun company to work at for students and recent grads. The manger/owner is nice, and the work culture is positive. 
The hours can be very long at times (12 hour shifts), and the hours you work per week can be very inconsistent. The job itself can be extremely demanding at times with little to no breaks in the day, and overall it can be unsustainable. There can be a lot of physical work at times such as cleaning, maintenance, and running around.

Working at Adventure Rooms Canada is a job like no other; the hours are great for students and people looking for full-time employment, the staff is extremely friendly and welcoming, and it's always awesome seeing how much fun teams have. The owner and managers are great and go the extra mile to ensure it is a safe and fun working environment. If you love customer service and puzzles Adventure Rooms Canada is the place for you!
