typical day at work:
- fast pace, meeting with suppliers, ensuring parts, and inventories to run the mill were on site as needed to keep the mill running, 
- facilitated meetings when the company brought in a profit sharing program.
- was on a team that implemented and trained employees on a new computer system.
- cross-trained in all office areas so I became more valuable to the company - shipping, woodlands, payroll, production, in addition to purchasing
- I learned that no matter what the job is, I am more than capable to learn the process and the computer program
- I enjoyed purchasing, dealing with suppliers, handling international and local interaction, love working with people
- I planned and organized company/employee functions, loved this part, employees were like an extended family

Ainsworth Power Construction Inc. Is a Very Dangerous Company to work for. APCI is on the verge of being Banned for Life from working for Toronto Hydro, &  AECON. The Trade workers  at APCI put their lives on the LINE everyday , working for this Extremely UNSAFE Company. Accidents are every where, safe work practices are Broken daily. Unsafe Incidents are reported daily. APCII management are Inept, and should be running a TAXI Cab business. The APCI management tean at all levels are Stupid, Inept, dangerous, scary and unbelieveably back stabbing SOB's. More quality tradesman get fired from APCI than any other contractor that I know of. Why because the management team doesnot want the trades workers to show them UP!!!  Stay clear of APCI!!!!!

If you want to be micro-managed with a manager that asks you 50 times a day what you’re working on, or you want to feel like you’re in the wrong when you notice mistakes on files, or you just really enjoy getting discredited for the work you do, then by all means, the Ottawa branch is the perfect place for you. Just make sure management doesn’t personally have a problem with you, or you’re out the door. Super unprofessional. Funny how the Toronto office can recognize when someone extremely competent is let go, and feel disappointed, but the Ottawa branch would rather run their operation to the ground. Technicians and some of the other support staff are great, but management never recognizes their worth. 

the work life balance is good salary is decent so is the office environment upper management is unorginized pompous and unprofessional from the way they speak to you to how they direct their operations not to mention the non existant HR.turnover rate is very high ,department feuds people that talk bad to each other is all a part of normal work culture over there.Poor health and safety on the field lack of class and will treat and discard of you without telling so pretty much being some what of a number the maintenance manager doesent have smile on his face and has a discusting attiude would not recommend at all.

Lack of empathy and respect towards their employee 
You don’t have any privacy, they spy on their employee 24/7 when it comes to their personal life, anything in general.
Even on you’re break when you sit at the lunch room, they will spy on you, to know what’s on  you’re mind. 
The manager / Team lead,  gossip about their employee thru email or messenger app. 
They will treat you like a robot child like they own you.
The team lead will start to get insecure when they know that you are capable performing well at you’re job, because there’s opportunity growth at the job and they fear you could be on top of them so they will make you feel like you’re not as good as you think you are at the job.

I am at work by no later than 7:30 and leave approx 5 or there after.I am the office administrator and expect accuracy and dependability from my Receptionist. I work with all Contractors, sub contractors,HVAC, Plumbing and Refrigeration. We have just finished 2 Walmarts, starting the stadium and Target as well as Shoppers Drug Marts. I am in charge of all of the Projects, from work orders, payroll, purchase orders, petty cash, bank deposits, releif reception and Project coding and posting, balancing. Also entering all Purchase orders for payment and closing out work orders and Projects.

I was hired by and worked under two fantastic Senior Project Managers, and reported directly to 8 different foremen across many sites. 

My managers maintained great relationships with customers and always had more projects and service work lined up. 
Training was provided on time. 
Opportunities for overtime was abundant.

My site supervisors were supportive and organized. They took very good care of the people that worked hard and delivered on expectations.

My coworkers for the most part were excellent. We shared similar values and drive. With each person's individual strengths, and proper direction from leadership, the task's end result was success.

I get flexibility to work as per time, I am not pressurized but requested to do particular tasks. Positive people around keeps me active and energized. I learnt a lot about accounts, services we offer and how to handle purchasing dept. Though the workplace is far from my home, but it is completely worth it. I could have tried for any company nearby, but the belongingness I get in Ainsworth, is hard to find somewhere outside. I was looking for my growth, I got it here. More to come down the line. I've always felt at home with this company  when I was injured I was well cared for in terms of support and wages . No other mechanical contractors would support their employees the way this company does. There will always be those who complain about everything and this will never change. Just do your job to the best of your ability and ignore the so called politics, keep good communication with management and this company will support you. I would not want to leave this employer to test the greener grass that doesn't exist .

A good place to work, but there seems to double standards in how employees are treated. I was there eleven years and I fully intended to remain with them until my retirement. I had another job offer two years ago for more money and turned it down to remain loyal to Ainsworth Inc. I really believe there is an extreme problem, as they are cutting and slashing staff and complete divisions, and I do not believe it is all relative to this ongoing recession. I think it may be part of it, but there must be underlying issues.
