Overall this job is not what it is cut out to be, the pay is insanely low for the work that is expected of you. There was no chance for a raise at this position even as the work load increased, your pay did not. When starting you get 2-3 days of training with the owner at most then thrown into a daycare with upwards of 30 dogs by yourself and expected to handle it, support from fellow staff is almost none existent minus a few helpful leaders. When dealing with dogs who may not be properly suited for daycare the boss will simply brush it off and tell you to “work with them” even if you feel unsafe with that dog, solely because it’s a paying client. If dogs have bad days it’s almost impossible to get it across to parents as we are told that every dog has a “good day” and should only tell parents otherwise when it comes to any injuries. The revolving door of staff is no surprise when seeing the pay is so low and the work load is insanely high and can be extremely stressful, almost ever 2-3 weeks there is new staff coming on and 90% quit after roughly 3 weeks due to the support that is offered. Overall for what you are getting paid, the work that is expected of you, and the surrounding staff it’s best to consider other options when wanting to start a career in animal care, I  will not recommend this to anyone. 

I work for this company for roughly a year, during this time I made friendships that have stuck with me for a while now, I developed strong relationships with clients, and I really got to understand dogs. With this being said, I do no recommend working here. The general lack of care for employees mental, emotional, and physical well-being is extremely discouraging. With an evident amount of favouritism taking place it can make it difficult to ever feel comfortable working here. On top of this, when I was hired I was told that they would accommodate to my needs and schedule but when I attempted to share my schedule I was treated poorly and ignored. Often times it felt as though the Park location was used as a means of discarding those that management did not want to actively talk to as they would only work in the Blvd location. Turn over rate is high here for a reason, and as far as I am aware they have lost roughly 20 employees in the last year and a half, I recommend taking this into consideration prior to applying for this job because ultimately if a company is posting new job listings every week it is not a good sign.

The job requires you to be on your feet the majority of the time. Lots of cleaning within the daycare and outside of the daycare. You will be in the daycare with large groups of dogs (up to 50 in one large space). This is very fast paced work environment within the daycare and requires a lot of behaviour management. The majority of your time within the daycare will be spent cleaning up after the dogs and observing interactions between dogs to make sure everyone is playing safely. The management of the company is the real issue. Lack of boundaries from management, lack of respect and honest communication. The pay for this position speaks for itself in my opinion. They are constantly hiring because they go through employees due to lack of support given to employees, due to the abysmal pay, and general lack of respect. 

The dogs here were amazing and it was so much fun to get to take care of them, but it was also stressful to work here. Learned a lot, but had limited training so a lot of this was figuring things out on my own. I was regularly left alone with more than 50 dogs and no support. This is a job where you’ll be constantly on your feet, doing physical work, and where you are expected to take on a ton of responsibility. Management seemed to have favourites and would give certain people way more hours than others with no explanation. The turnover rate is incredibly high for a reason!

Working at Airdrie Puppy Pals is super cool! The people who run the place are always ready to help when you need it, and they care about their team.

Everyone on the team is friendly and fun to work with. We all love animals and get along really well. The best part of working at Airdrie Puppy Pals is playing with all the puppies! They're so cute and playful.

It's great to see the puppies grow up happy and healthy because we take really good care of them. The bosses are nice, the people are fun, and the puppies are adorable! If you like animals and want to work in a happy place, this is a great job for you.

I worked here for over a year. The managers were very helpful working around my school schedule, we were never ever left alone with as many dogs as the previous reviews said (not sure where that comes from.) Working with dogs is crazy, and fast. One second they're sleeping and the next they all decide it's time to go to the bathroom (Indeed won't let me write po op).  The managers are kind, and the wage is minimum wage which was what I expected. I enjoyed all the pizza parties and team events. It was fun.  I enjoyed my time there. :)

I love that this workplace each day brings something new and the opportunity to learn. Each day we get to collaborate as part of a team to problem solve and create a fun environment for the dogs. The clients are so friendly and happy to have a team of caring people look after their furbaby. It is very fast paced and you are on your feet most of the day, but the shifts go by quickly. The workplace culture is friendly, positive and always an enjoyable place to go. 

If you love dogs this is a great place to work. You get to play with dogs all day! Being part of the APP family is amazing and everyone that works there is so friendly and it’s has been so easy to build great relationships. The management team is always checking in on you, offering support, and showing their appreciation. You will learn a lot about dog behaviours and training and just have fun! 

Amazing dogs. Very “clicky” Little direction. Lazy Staff, if you are a hard worker, they will notice and use it.

Pay is extremely low and communication is minimal. There are many dogs that are not suited for a day care environment. 

Wouldn't recommend to anyone. The dog aspect is fun but you will be watching 50+ dogs at once which isn't okay nor should be allowed. When I started they were very kind but things turned quickly. Very stressful environment and the pay is not good and almost impossible to get a raise
