Algoma Enegry Solutions was a great company to work for over the 5 years that I was there. I started at the company while it was fairly small operations and watched it grow rapidly in employees, jobs and opportunities.Even with raid increase of employees Algoma Energy Solution still managed to treat everyone as if they were family. The Hardest part of the job was working in the harsh outdoor elements such as rain and cold weather, it wasn't fun working outside in -30 below with winds. The most enjoyable part of the job was working  with everyone as a team to accomplish the goal. As well as, after everything was installed, then being able to stand back and look at the finished product and have a great feeling of accomplishment of what I have done.

A typical day includes preparing and administering Tailgate Talks, tool inspection and preparation, attendance recording, organizing and preparing for work efforts for shift, monitoring work activities and safe work procedures.  Learned to function efficiently in fast-paced work environment under a Management that is very demanding under a tight schedule.  Co-workers are co-operative and willing to pitch in when needed.  I find the hardest part of the job is achieving all of this along with the variability of additional tasks.  Along with that, though, comes a great feeling of achievement and satisfaction at days end.

We would get to work at 6:30 am then at 7 am we would have a safety meeting. after that we would get started then at 10:30 am we would have a 15 min break, at 12 we would have lunch then at 2 we would work then 5 o clock would come and it would be off.
When i was working there i have learned about solar panels and how much work there is for it to be done and work right. The managers were nice made me feel safe and welcome. My co works were nice too, the hardest part of the job was getting laid off i really liked that job and i would like to do something like that again. The best part of the job was everything im trying really hard to find something i liked mostly about it but i cant i like all of it.

working Monday - Friday 7:00 - 5:30 saturdays 7:00 - 3:00 with Sundays off. show up to work on time, followed by a safety meeting, after the meeting everyone would go to their designated work areas on the field, a normal day would be lifting solar panels all day, ratcheting them to the solar frames, torquing bolts, straightening clips, marking bolts, cleaning mud out of vehicles. working outside in any weather condition except lightning. good hourly pay, god people. overall a fun place to work if your willing to work long hours and outside.

Union workers hated on us recruited workers by filing a grievance complaint on all of us as to how we simply got in and union workers complaining on how we were taking away their work from them. Therefore, we were eventually offered to be part of the union but then our boss whom we were labouring for (Contractor) never paid ur union dues and due that we were all immediately removed from the premises and not to be anywhere near the job site.

This company has allowed me to expand my knowledge of the construction industry. I have learned so much with Algoma.
Work is always different and we are always moving and growing as a team.
I am usually the acting Quality Assurance field supervisor on a job site. I read specific specs required on that certain job and make sure team are meeting them. I problem solve, map, admin tasks and participate in the building of the job duties.

• Assist in the assembly of solar panels
• Install solar panels according to planed guidelines 
• Maintain general housekeeping of work site
• Use and maintain tools required for the installation of solar panels

AES is a great company to work for. I enjoy wording in such a fast paced industry, and learning from a great company. Co-workers are always pushing each other to achieve there weekly goals.

Good hours. Good pay. Out of town work. Worked with great people. Fun, outdoor work putting up solar panels. Contract work so no chance of advancement.
