My experience at Allwest has been not very good. I don't know what they were thinking but for 6 months at one site they made an 3rd year Electrician chip when there was plenty of 1st and 2nd years avalible and that's all i did for 6 months until they moved me to another site. A common trend i noticed is there is struggles getting material to site even though we order it when we are running low, Your expected to provide your own hammer drills and things that the company should be providing in order to do your job i have burned through 2 M18 Milwaukee Fuel compact drills in 3 months using them to drill through Wood frame and broke 3 extension bits.  Foreman are very hit and miss some don't even show up at all. leaving the Lead hands to pick up the slack. Some crews are very cliquey and it's tough to break in with a new crew here. Another thing i noticed is the Stat pay is paid diffrently. instead of paying a Full day for a Stat like 99% of other companies do, They give you parts of it on every paycheck at 4% of your Total paycheck which means they don't pay the full Stat your entitled to so be aware of that when you get your first paycheck with this company. Medical and Dental is Free for Journeypersons but $108 a month for Apprentices

Qualified, experienced, intelligent and strong memory managers work in this company, and electricians often do repetitive work, and this seems boring, and less attention is paid to the progress of electricians and their learning, they pay more attention to the advancement of work in their own time, if they transfer experiences and transfer in different parts and increase  Paying attention to the knowledge of the employees will benefit the company and its employees in the long run.

I worked in the company for 2 months. This is my first working experience as an apprentice ever. I was feeling like I am alone. I am level 1 apprentice and did not get any support from management. I was terminated within probation period because of (lack of initiative), what a joke. If there is no work to do and foreman doesn’t give any task and letting people just find the work by themselves. (Just look around the site there is always something to do), if you are new in the company, expect to hear this all the time. While some people go for an hour and half lunch and slacking off getting no trouble for that, other people getting fired because of no task given.

Worked for 3-5 years before quitting because of the work environment due to covid. Hierarchy within the employees and management, getting a pay raise or change in type of work is all about who you know and not about your own experience and work ethic. Trained a new apprentice whom failed their first year at school, came back from school after my 4th year schooling and the apprentice I trained was getting what I was getting paid after completing my 4th year and passing my red seal.

Allwest Electric has been a good company to work with because of their workplace safety and environment. They have a great team work ethic and all of the coworkers are friendly and has different kinds of culture backround. You learn a lot from others as you work with them.

The only hard part of the job is when you work in downtown where there is a ridiculous amount of parking fee and you have no carpool. Sometimes you have to take transit to go to work. 

The best part of the job is when you complete a project one hundred percent and you feel good about yourself.

I had a bit of a mixed experience with Allwest. I had very few issues with coworkers (other Journeyman and Apprentices). Everyone was friendly and worked as a team.

My main issues that I had were with onsite management. It's really hit and miss here and just depends which foremen you end up with. I've worked with some of the best foremen I've ever had at this company but, at the same time, I've had to put up with some of the absolute worst foremen I've ever seen since I became an electrician. Foremen that are completely incompetent and abusive.  

Like family. Owner does all the hiring/interviewing. Office staff is amazing and well coordinated. There is a little bit of a hire archly but that’s to be expected at any job. Foreman and leadhands are all super kind and are more than willing to help. Everyone just wants to have a good time. 

A typical electrical Canadian employer. Great journeyman rate of pay. There are opportunity's to learn many different aspects of the electrical trade such as 3phase or suite. You must be willing to work hard as it can be a fast paced environment. 

I would assume that a work day at this company is like any other electrical company's work day, Allwest payed for my schooling and provide the benefits I asked for.

They are a good company to work for... Until they lay you off. From my experience they have different teams. There  are crews that do slab, distribution, rough in and , finishing.  You end up doing the same job over and over agian. They are strict in their way they do things.
