I started with Alopex Couriers during a time of transition and growth, and it’s been both challenging and rewarding. As the current HR Manager, I’ve had the chance to help reshape the culture, support a passionate team, and implement processes that make a difference to our people.

The pace can be fast especially during peak season, but leadership is supportive, and there’s room to take initiative and grow. It’s a place where your ideas can NOW lead to real change.

I know there are some mixed reviews here, and I get it—change isn’t always easy. Some of the feedback comes from the past, during a time when change was clearly needed. Others may be from former team members who weren’t aligned with the direction we’re heading, and that’s okay too. Transitions can be uncomfortable, but they also open the door to meaningful improvement—and that’s exactly what we’ve been working toward.

We’ve been actively working on:
Improving communication and trust
Building consistent processes that ensures accountability
Fostering a positive, respectful culture
Ensuring team members feel heard and valued

Change takes time, but there’s a clear commitment from leadership—including myself—to listen, lead with integrity, and bridge the gap between teams and management. I strive to be fair and approachable, and I wouldn’t be sharing this if I didn’t truly believe in the direction Alopex is heading.

A typical day is pretty easy for me. The job for me isn't that hard. I didn't learn much other than the job I thought i love doing has turned into a drag. This happened due to poor management, poor morale and an overall sense of under achievement from co workers. They all feel under appreciated for the work they do.

The current supervisor is a great guy newer to the company and i wish him the best. The current manager well I don't know what to say. He talks to the guys and certain women, says things out loud he shouldn't, laughs when you ask him a question and does NOT have the respect of the crew in that warehouse.

Hardest part of the job is seeing the lack of morale amongst us, it felt like nobody wants to be here and were there for a pay cheque. Deliver their route and go home. Leaving behind packages because they refuse to help with.

Best part of the job is the customers. i love going door to door and saying hi and getting to know the people on various routes

As a smaller company they are going to have their struggles and bumps in the road, as every small business does, so it's important to expect those. However, this has single handedly been the most amazing and supportive work environment I have worked in. I can see how much the company cares and invests into those employees who put their efforts in to do a good job. There is uncapped opportunities for growth for those who communicate and work for it. A supportive HR department to those who reach out. A supportive management structure. A CEO who cares. I am lucky to have been employed here at such an exciting time.
Everyone's experience will be different, however I thought I would share mine.

Starting from the top down, the company fails to consistently follow through with plans and commitments. Upper management uses a bully-like style to attempt to force employees into operating their company vehicles illegally. If you do not do what they ask, legal or not, you will be replaced. Major favouritism is a huge source of contention in the workplace - upper management will pick and choose who is given more hours and who receives overtime, regardless of operational needs. The hardest part of the job is dealing with the nepotism throughout the entire company, dealing with a lack of respect to safety, and being treated poorly.
The company over hires employees, and then expects them to wait around for hours becoming frustrated and upset when employees voice their concerns in regards to a lack of agreed upon hours.

might as well call us puppeteers instead of employees because nothing ever gets said or done about the real problems that’ve cultivated from the top down; managers are negligent and overzealous, they’ll nitpick at the most trivial of things and bear down on people that are trying to make positive change or take action. not only were we underpaid and overworked, but the managerial environment is toxic, they spread lies, rumours, kick people when they’re down, gossip, and have a knack for burying or diffusing situations—in a poor manner—they’d rather not deal with. i highly recommended staying FAR away from alopex as possible, this place crushed my spirit, i will never support them again and i encourage anyone who sees this to seek employment elsewhere. 

A typical day at work is loading your van. Your scanner , and going to do deliveries. but no matter how fast you go it isn’t fast enough. I learned that I cannot trust anyone the people that were setting me up for a future. Let me down a day before.. hardest part of the job being tricked lied to and only told the absolute minimum because the company cannot trust you or any other employees. The most enjoyable part of the job being away from everyone and delivering and just being left alone from the heart piece that had office and my manager at Castlegar .

Typical day-wait till packages finally arrive, from 10-12.  Then, sort them & organize my routes. The day could go from 10-7+, you never know.  I learned that my customer service skills exceeded the job.  Management were either over-worked, not acknowledged or expected to ALWAYS go above & beyond.  As well, new management came in and made it even worse with a powerhead.  ALL have quit, except the powerhead. Workplace culture was stressed and negative.  Hardest part-excessive long days in the dark with not any proper lighting in the areas and expected of you.  The best part was delivering that special package to the customer.

Very unprofessional company to work for, staff are left to purchase multiple items in order to perform the job correctly. including phone holders for vehicle, scanner holders for vehicle's charging cords. any and all safety related items including a 1st aid kit.  No communication between supervisors and staff. No documentation for dismissal. the rich get richer and us who bust our butts, get fired for speaking up about a $4 bonus..  this is not a very nice company to work for. 25 years in the work force and never dealt with a company as poor as this one. stay far far away.  work 14 to 16 hour days pushing out all freight as they state you must, to then be fired on the 18th of December with ZERO reason or proof of dismissal

This “company” is by far the worst employer I have ever worked for. Starting from day one you will be left feeling deceived and frustrated. They keep employees at ‘casual’ status expecting one to be available for 10-60 hours per week with no notice or consistency. The laughable CEO pushes a “family first” mentality.. but how is one supposed to support a family on 10 hours per week? The level of unorganized chaos, lack of authority by site managers due to micro management of the so called CEO is also very frustrating. Management is a continuous rotating door, much like most positions for various reasons. Avoid working here and save yourself the waste of time and inherent frustration for being underappreciated.  

Awesome job to have but its very unfortunate the way things are run.  Their priorities are not aligned with their employees.  They will run you into the ground and you will get no appreciation for the the work you put in.  It is micro managed from a head office and a hr company that have no idea how things actually run day to day.  Expect new policies almost daily that make no sense. And expect to be promoted if your really good at sucking up to the higher ups.  The customers are amazing to work with so much fun once you leave the warehouse and dont have to deal with the drama that comes with the warehouse.  Do not work here.  If you want to be a courier work for someone else !!!
