While the job initially seems great, the reality for many staff is very different. Accommodations and support often appear to depend on how valued or well-liked an employee is. The staffing department is consistently overworked, with frequent overtime, weekend expectations, and chronic understaffing.

Senior management does not seem to meaningfully address concerns from staff and continues to overbook studies despite limited resources. Communication around study and protocol changes is often poor, creating rushed work, scheduling chaos, and additional overtime.

Floor staff turnover and instability are understandable given the workload and demanding hours, which further complicates scheduling. Even workplace activities organized to boost morale often feel disconnected from the reality employees face, since staffing teams are usually too overwhelmed to participate. Overall, the environment feels unsustainable and poorly supported from the top down.

Another major issue has been the push toward mandatory in-person work for staffing despite the role being fully capable of being performed remotely. Many employees accepted the position specifically because it was work-from-home friendly, yet management is now imposing onsite expectations without a clear operational reason. When I worked there, there was not even adequate workspace available, staffing had no dedicated area, not enough desks, and employees were forced to coordinate shared spaces while other departments complained about their presence. The supposed benefit of “team brainstorming” does not outweigh the added stress and logistical problems imposed on an already demanding role. Overall, the environment feels increasingly unsustainable and disconnected from the realities staff face daily.

A typical day at work:
Days are extremely busy and often overwhelming, with unrealistic workloads and constant pressure. Tasks are repetitive and often don’t make full use of employees’ skills.

What you believe you learned:
You can pick up some basic lab techniques and SOPs, but the role does not offer meaningful professional growth or skill development.

Management:
Management is often unprofessional, with poor communication and favoritism. Feedback is minimal, and employees are not properly supported.

Workplace culture:
The environment can feel toxic and stressful. While some colleagues are friendly, the overall culture lacks collaboration and respect.

The hardest part of the job:
Dealing with the heavy workload, lack of guidance, and feeling that your skills are underutilized.

The most enjoyable part of the job:
Occasionally interacting with friendly colleagues and learning basic lab procedures.

Do not work for the maintenance department. No matter how hard you work or how much of a model employee you are, you are not even just a number to them; they will try to prevent you getting anything out of them that isn’t bare basic pay. For example, they’ll tell you the job is full time and that you get benefits after three months - that is a flat out lie. They will keep your contract “part-time, on-call” for as long as they like, because it saves them a few bucks. Be prepared for your boss to lie to your face, threaten you, make all manner of sexist and racist remarks, and not listen to a single word from you. If you try to warn him about an impending problem, he’ll ignore you - and then blame you for it when the problem inevitably begins generating complaints.
By far one of the worst employers I have ever wasted my time and sincerest efforts on; I would advise just about anyone to steer clear from this place.

Working at Altersciences,  the day started early. Learnt nothing,everything seems to be chaotic,  lots of egos, your skills are not put to good use, instead you are trained on the same thing repeatedly. Some staffs are aggressive and  rude. Fake smiles and laughter.  Competitive for the few positions. Qualifications are questionable. Stressed staffs. Director of facilities do not seem to take people concerns seriously.  Every one is a Manager with their own opinions.  High turnover. One group help each other, no common language is spoken.  The Company is providing a good service but some of the people working there create a very ,unhealthy environment. Beaumont needs a revamp of  Director and HR department.

Typical day at work includes answering phone calls and making calls to get people to do studies. Very bad system, we are given lists of names to call of people who do not answer or who are not interested. The team leader, supervisor and manager of the department are very condescending and rude. They do not have any training on working in management setting and it is very obvious. Do not care about you and laugh in your face when you bring up concerns. There is a rule that if you miss your break by more than 15 minutes that you lose, but what happens if we are on a phone call at the time of our break? 
The other employees are very nice, but management needs to be replaced. They make working there very hard.

Even though the Management is very supportive, 
I felt working with employees who are stressed due to heavy work load and projecting their frustration on new employees. The competition at work was not constructive. 
After 20 years of work experience in my life, this place pushed me to lose my self confidence due to lack of encouragement and training issues which was under looked at during my recruitment. Colleagues have been less keen to help due to their workload. Some Employees do not give importance to professional conduct and limitations. Many shows signs of burnout. 
The supervision reflects to micro management. 


I worked there as a clinical research nurse for 5 months.
Pros:

Cons:
Constant ask for overtime
Underpaid, no raises for anyone in 2023, and under 4% for 2024. You'll be poorer than ever working there. 
Staffing is ridiculous. I'd do overtime to sit doing nothing. Literally. For hours.
Unreasonable expectations. 
Very expensive insurance
Work hours! Start as early as 5 am but that doesn't mean you'll leave early! You might just get a 3 hour shift the next day 
Shifts that last less than 5 hours. Seriously. All. The. Time. 



Thought it was a good step into the clinical research industry but understood that CrO survives when they have studies. Lots of work but not a nurturing environment to be in. Was disappointment in the lack of professionalism on the part of management. Two faced environment. The colleagues are chill but management needs to be replaced/trained/ retrained/supervised by a third party. 
Salary is horrible for Bach degree holders. 
Horrible for LPNs who work constantly.
Disappointing. 
Not invested in their employees but all over the clients.

Coworkers are nice and supportive and managers are trying to implement positive changes. But the workload itself is stressful with no work-life balance. Lots of overtime and if you finish early, they’ll try to give you more tasks or to assist someone. The good days are REALLY good and the bad days are REALLY bad, so get ready for a roller coaster. There’s an overall sense of guilt for finishing early or on time. Most analysts experience burnout within a year.

You’ll learn A LOT though from the job itself and from coworkers. It’s a good and advancing company and the learning makes it worth it, just not sustainable.

Worked in data service for three years, so many turnovers and all as a result of management who had no clue what they are doing.
Very racist culture, only push to have “local” people. Those people who stay have strong connections inside company and zero knowledge. They bully and speak rudely with employees. They abuse them with lots of work until they burnout. 
Silly gestures of happy birthday emails but when you need them and there is any issues they are  silent.
