My day usually starts with coaching group classes! I love to wake up and immediately feel like I’m making a difference in people’s lives. After 2-3 classes I grab some food on site or take a break to eat my lunch. They always have great options so I take advantage of the staff discount. Following lunch break I’ll service some consultative appointments or train 1-1 with clientele. I typically finish my day with some form of boxing training, whether that be 1-1 or in a workshop. 

The culture at altea is phenomenal. I’ve never been apart of a company that has such a close connection and genuine synergy. Everyone seems to respect the grind and lift each other up. The management team is amazing. Truly a pleasure to show up and do a job for people who you respect and admire. They spoil the staff and are very accommodating / reasonable. I’m looking forward to seeing this company thrive. 

I think if you plan on applying here, you should make sure you have a positive attitude, an open mind, and little ego. This place puts culture over everything and won’t take someone who isn’t willing to do the same. 

Hardest part of the job is the same as it is at every other fitness facility… administration and time management. Scheduling for clientele can sometimes limit your plans. Just apart of the gig!

Most enjoyable part of the job is working in such a beautiful environment. From the staff, to the equipment, the boutiques, the amenities, it’s all incredible. This place is top tier! 

I am having an incredibly positive experience working as a part-time Member Engagement Associate at Altea! From the moment I joined, I felt welcomed and supported by the team. The flexible hours allow me to maintain a healthy work-life balance, which is really helpful as a full-time highschool student. On top of that, I have access to premium facilities for free, which not only enhances my experience but also makes me feel valued as an employee.

One of the highlights of my time at Altea is the supportive management. The leadership team always ensures I have the resources we need to succeed, and they foster an environment of open communication. There is a strong emphasis on collaboration, making it easy to connect with my coworkers and work together. The company truly prioritizes employee bonding, and there are regular events that help build a sense of community and camaraderie among the staff.

Working as a fitness instructor at Altea continues to be a rewarding and dynamic experience. A typical day involves planning and leading a variety of group fitness classes, and connecting with members to support their individual wellness goals. Each day brings fresh energy and an opportunity to motivate others through movement.

Since joining Altea, I’ve learned how to adapt quickly to different fitness levels and personalities, while maintaining a high-energy, inclusive environment. My communication skills have strengthened, and I continue to grow in programming effective workouts that are both challenging and safe.

Management is supportive and approachable, encouraging a balance of structure and autonomy. They genuinely value the input of instructors and are committed to professional development, which creates a positive and collaborative work environment.

The most enjoyable part of the job is helping people feel stronger, healthier, and more confident. Watching members make progress and celebrating their wins—big or small—is incredibly fulfilling and reminds me why I love what I do.


Do yourself a favor and find a $16/hr job elsewhere. The amount of disorganization and faux "community culture" vibes from upper-level management here is exhausting. With policies constantly changing and not clearly communicated with the customer-facing associate roles, Altea is basically setting you up for failure with its constant rotation of frustrated customers and unnecessarily complicated CSM & training approach. They need to chill out on their scripts. And are basically looking for people who are enamored by its pretty new facilities to exploit for an unfair wage. Meanwhile, the gym is hiring influencers who take space away from paying members to polish their image for 65K salaries. 

The hours are intense. If you work early mornings (4:30am) you might still have to work night shifts in the same week. A lot of maneuvering your internal clock! Also, you have to pay for your own criminal background check and first aid training. I think I lost money working here, lol.

The recent public backlash from members doesn't surprise me at all. The lack of ethics within this company is mindblowing. 

Being a supervisor at Altea has been nothing short of an incredible journey. Each day brings new and exciting challenges that keep the work fresh and engaging—never a dull moment! What stands out most to me is the team I get to work with. It’s clear that a lot of thought and care went into the interview process because every member brings something exceptional to the table. They're talented, driven, and genuinely collaborative.

Leadership at Altea sets the tone for a positive and supportive work environment. You really feel like management is in your corner, championing your growth and success. Little touches, like TGIFs with lunch provided and spontaneous moments of appreciation, make a huge difference. It’s those unexpected surprises that remind you you’re valued here.

I also value the relationships I’ve built with both members and colleagues, many of whom have become close friends. Working in an environment that promotes growth, positivity, and balance has allowed me to not only support others on their wellness journey but also continue growing in my own. This was the worst job I ever had, every day I dreaded coming into work and picking up slack for management and department heads who refused to communicate information to appropriate departments, rude and entitled sales and management. If you're not one of their friends don't expect to be treated well. If you're a hard worker other staff will notice and WILL take advantage of you and slack off. Complaints and suggestions are not taken seriously from cleaning staff as they are expected to carry out a gigantic work load that is not appropriately staffed. All decent department heads were sent to Toronto to leave Winnipeg to continue to deteriorate, since I've left it is regularly quite dirty and basic tasks are clearly not completed. leaving this job changed my life for the better. 

I've worked at Altea for over five years since it has opened and held numerous positions across departments. Since I was first hired at 17 years old in the Climbing Club, I've loved working at Altea, everyone is so nice and welcoming and after university I was able to work in the Active Kids Club as well for some more hours. Love the members and team members here and my amazing managers have always been flexible to accommodate my schedule. Since graduating university, I've been working full-time as a Membership Coordinator in the sales department and really love coming here almost everyday. I've also worked out consistently throughout my time here and done lots of classes which is a huge perk! 

A dynamic workplace were everyday is different from the next. Employees will be challenged in a positive way to further their development. Management is caring and supportive, as also take on feedback from staff across all departments. The culture is fun and diverse. Altea being a social and wellness club, employees will not only benefit from career advancements but also support their physical and mental well-being having full access to the facilities. The most difficult part about a role at Altea is that the company has high-standards and is a fast-placed environment, which can be challenging to consistently uphold. That being said, it creates resilience and growth.
