This company is the most terrible company I have ever worked for and this is keeping in mind I worked as a coach/supervisor.

Hours are long 10 to 11 hours a day 4 days a week. You will be hired on as a temp worker to start no benefits etc. Overtime will be mandatory expect to work 60+ hours a week around Christmas so don't expect so see your family around the holidays or whenever they call for overtime to bad for you, expect to be pointed for missing days and let go if you miss more than 2 around Christmas.

Prepare to be a robot for everything you pick or do there is an expected rate based on the size of item EG 180 items per hour for smalls. The aisles are crowded and small in the larger items there is boxes all over the floor and items are stowed terribly. So good luck making your rate. If you are packing the equipment breaks half the time or the worker who is suppose to keep you supplied is busy talking to someone.

Oh best part during the middle of every week management sits together and reviews the workers rates. You get a lovely piece of paper to sign every week like a report card for adults you either made 100% or above or you didn't and you get a written warning get 3 written warnings and it's out the door for you. Oh did I mention hey is it your first week? Did you pick a wrong item or too many or too little expect a written for that as well. Make too many errors and you can be gone your first week. 

As a coach/supervisor upper management was always on our case to be on the workers constantly harass them with rates and try and make them go faster even if they were 100% get them to go faster so they can raise the rates overall. A lot of times it was not the workers fault there was either a language barrier or their pick path was terrible but management never wanted to hear that it was always the workers fault though Amazons slogan is "Blame the process not the people" 

I worked at the Brampton location 90% of the workers are Indian so if you are any other ethnicity good luck making any friends or having anyone to talk to. Most of the the workers speak Punjabi right in front of your face or to the other workers behind your back, even the mangers do it. Very few good people I met while working their and again I was a supervisor. 

Amazon goes on and on about safety first .....in fact you will spend hours your first day learning about safety...what a joke amazon thinks you are a robot with no family expect to work long hours with low pay and to be called for overtime at any time.

I myself worked there for 1 1/2 years as a supervisor, things got slow so I was given the option to work nights as a temp worker or leave. A terrible heartless company that does not care about you or your family, there is little to no advancement unless your are Indian and suck up to the managers enough. STAY AWAY!!!!

Pros....... no overtime and benefits are good IF you can manage to get hired on and well good luck with that if you make too many errors, are sick too many days, or don't make rate it will never happen. Or well if they just don't like you. 


Stay away from this company!!!!!

Before I even started working I started receiving text messages from an 800 number at least 2 or 3 times during the span of a week expressing that there were employees testing positive. The message also said that there was nothing to worry about. When I started on my first day in the morning there was another text sent about an employee testing positive for COVID 19, again nothing to worry about the message said. It seems like there is an outbreak at the YYZ9 Centre and not much is being done. Amazon has a "mask on" mandatory policy, however it seems that some employees don't even care to follow that. The lunch break areas are filled with people eating way too close. surfaces are not cleaned constantly, and if you want to be safe without a mask on you're better off outside or in your own car. That's if you have one, if you don't sorry you're going to have to freeze this winter outside just to be safe.

The online training that I received was positively the worst training ever. The most important information such as the Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System training was horrible, the information that was posted on the slides was a picture of another picture of the signs and writing. It was impossible to read. The training was not specific to the location that I would be in, not even the on site training was specific to the location. The onsite training was even worse, I could not understand a word that was coming out of my trainer. The cheap mic & small speaker that the trainer was talking out of did not help the situation. The trainer also did not even care that much about what the results of her training would be. The trainer barely showed my group how to use a scanning gun which was very complicatiated. when we got "trained" on that the trainer proceeded to put my group in an outbound station which got very confusing because the trainer decided to leave and leave the group without much to go on.

The scheduling  is also horrible, at the time when I went in to a person to person screening they told me that I would be working Wed, Thrus, Fri Sat. I said that was fine as long as I wouldn't have to work on a Sunday  because I had commitments on Sundays. On my first day trainers told a massive group that we would be working Thurs, Fri, Sat, Sun. When I asked why my days were changed I was told that they did not have an answer and wouldn't be able to change the days. I told the trainer that I had been very specific that I could not come in on Sunday, after thatI the trainer told me that my employment would be terminated immediately if I did not show up, and that me having other commitments was not their concern. 

During the first day break times were also not clear, my trainer did not give us our first or second break on time. My group decided to take it upon us to go on because we had been working for longer than we should have been.

Signed a 6-month contract to be a seasonal worker.  Was laid off after 4.  In the meantime I was repeatedly told by management I would be converted to full-time and was laid off instead. No real interaction with management unless you engage them, no performance reviews or 1-1s unless your work rate is below company standards, then they will come out of the woodwork like cockroaches.  I never actually met my direct manager as he was on a different shift.  The Process Assistants on the floor are mostly friendly and helpful but seem to be just as in the dark of the happenings in the warehouse goings-on as the associates.

HR toes the company line, are sometimes helpful but will lie to cover their backsides if they get caught in a lie which happened with me.  Document EVERYTHING when dealing with them regarding what you may deem an important issue.

Pay is decent with night shift premium. Most shifts you work hard, some shifts you are beyond bored.  Peak (holiday) season is its own experience.  10-hour 4-day shifts with mandatory extra shifts when required. You can opt out of these though on your 1st day.  There are also voluntary extra shifts posted on their internal app when they need extra hands.

Show up on time, do your assigned job.  Talk to people, don't talk to people - it's your choice.  
You will find out pretty fast who gets paid to work and who comes to work just to get paid.  If an associate has a blue badge (are full time) and wear an orange vest they have more job security than the Seasonal Employees so most put in very little effort and spend more time on their phones (not supposed to be allowed), in the bathroom, or trying to weasel their way out of the daily required tasks (nobody likes Pick and Stage at the end of the day.)  Management doesn't care one way or the other as long as the site's overall metrics look good for THEIR bosses.

In short, you are just a cog in the Amazon money-making machine until you are removed or replaced.  


What is the best part of working at the company?
The people - whether it be associates, teammates, or supporting teams, everyone was grateful for employment. The positive interactions from the people made was the best part of working for Amazon for sure!

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The workload was heavy and the number of high priority targets was unrealistic to achieve them all.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
The senior leadership work 60+ hour weeks and say that they want to see managers leaving early. Senior leadership needs to do a better job at leading by example in this regard to promote more managers wanting to graduate to the senior leadership level.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
 shift durations 
days: 6:30am-6pm (4 days/week)
nights: 5:30pm - 5am (4 days/week)

the facility was running a day shift and night shift for 22 hours / day. The shift started by reviewing the hand-off notes from the previous shift, reviewing the shift pan and executing to it. The first hour of shift was the most critical to ensure 300-400 associates were working in the planned areas achieving their rate targets. 
Every hour performance is tracked across: Safety, Productivity, Quality, KPI metrics.
If there is any performance gaps they need to be corrected ASAP and updates shared to senior leadership.
My team was understaffed in the number of managers by 1-2 for over a year and there is no excuse to have any required work incomplete.
You are on your feet working for nearly the entire shift.
Two 30-minute breaks are taken however these were usually cut short as management presence was required on the warehouse floor throughout the shift.

It's a high-stress environment but the team that you work on keeps you sane and you develop really strong connections with your team members.

I was employed as an elf, sorry, 'associate'!, leading up to the 2015 Christmas period. The constant pressure to meet their ridiculous requirements, long hours, unreasonable pay and constant performance pressures and competition against everyone else to gain full employment and a 'Blue badge' is never ending and very unpleasant. Seriously the worst place I've ever worked at and the worst pays in my life! Forget statutory holidays such as Thanksgiving as they will require you to work as a slave regardless if it falls on your scheduled shift. You won't be paid any differently as a normal day but possibly given a piece of pumpkin pie for your efforts of sacrificing your rare time you should be spending with your family.

Seriously don't waste your time even if it sounds appealing! You're much better off looking elsewhere especially if you want to be treated like a human, paid like a human and have the entitlements that everyone so greatly deserves and have fought for, then treated like a machine or robot. 

They seem concerned for safety but that's thrown out the window when you're required to pick, pack, bend, lift and squat at speeds that will never be safe to do so. You'll be constantly moved around from picking, packing, shipping, receiving, re-stocking, and back and forth various roles and parts of the monstrous warehouse that brings no satisfaction, enjoyment or consistency. You'll also be required to walk, well speed walk, 15-20km's a day in steel toed/ safety boots which will make your feet and legs ache like never before.

Watch out for employment opportunities through SMX or affiliate labour hire companies as they deliberately don't advertise under the Amazon umbrella. You won't know this until you visit one of their temporary sites, usually set up leading up to peak seasons, and walk through the door when seeking employment. If you realize this walk straight back out and don't look back.

My experience at Amazon was mostly positive, but I think how people feel about working there depends heavily on their manager. I was fortunate to be hired when the location first opened, and overall I had a good experience with both management and my coworkers.

Amazon offers excellent health benefits, paid time off, and sick days. The system for requesting time off is very straightforward — everything is entered through a machine, which makes the process simple and transparent. Their internal computer systems are extremely organized and make it easy for associates to find what they need or track their performance.

There are definitely strict aspects of the job. You can’t bring phones or electronic devices inside, and everyone is scanned when leaving to ensure nothing is taken. The quotas in each department can make you feel more like a machine than a person at times, but this is also one of the most structured and efficient warehouse systems I’ve seen. You always know where you stand and how you’re performing.

One of the biggest positives is the opportunity to learn different roles and move up. Amazon is much more open to internal growth than many other warehouses. They also support employees who are going back to school and will work around your class schedule. The downside is that they require a lot of documentation for school accommodations, and in my case, my proof kept getting rejected, which eventually led me to resign.

Overall, I had a good experience. The systems are well‑designed, the benefits are strong, raises happen every year, and there are real opportunities to grow if you want them.

Typical work day is starting with a meeting and then heading off to your area of work. Depends on your job but you get a hand held computer that keeps track of every second you work. When I was a picker I spent the whole shift walking from one area to the next looking for people's orders. My computer would tell me where to go. Like what aisle(305), row(D) and bin(666) that item I needed would be in. With my computer I would have to click the Bin that my item was in and each and every item I pulled from that bin to show I got the number of items. Scan the tub I was sticking the items into and then head off to the next order. 

ICQA was annoying because the person who trained us at the time didn't shows us everything so we could not advance and so for 10 months I got stuck counting. For 10 long months, 10 hours days I would open a bin and count everything inside. That is all I did. 

Hardest part is not being able to listen to music or anything and you just hang by yourself working away listening to nothing. Best part was I knew what I was doing every day because it never changed. 

During Christmas they said they have rewards for top performers but instead of just handing them out at the end of the season they played a game. They would use a computer and they have it set up like a jeopardy wheel with our names on it. Get your hopes up that maybe you might get one of the gifts but after the second spin you realize it's only going out to the top performers. I mean top top. At our daily meetings they would congrats the people on who did the best the day before during Christmas. After one of these meets I asked my manager what I did wrong and he said I missed a firestick. 1 firestick. My order was for 56 firesticks not 55. 

Nice 4 days on and 3 days off with 10 hour shifts

Started off very stressful. It’s a sink or swim type of learning process. Learn by doing. Learn by failing and improving. 
It get better as time goes on and you get to know the managers and leadership team. With so many people and personalities you won’t get along with everyone. There’s a lot of competition between sites and shifts to meet production numbers and that shows that it’s very competitive even if it means finding the flaws in your teammates and throwing someone under the bus to get ahead or look superior in the eyes of management. 
Some managers are collaborative and team players. Others believe they are superior to their subordinates.  
Safety is very important and they constantly look to improve on this. But as time goes on it definitely appears to be a do more with less which will always comprise safety other short term or long term. 
Pay is not bad depending on education and experience. Benefits are great. Work life balance does not exist. You’ll work extra. You’ll work nights and days. You don’t get much time off. Minimum standard for full time of 2 weeks. Have to work to earn extra time off and will not have an easy time using it without leaving team in bind. 
Since 90% of the people there are working for low pay and other have second jobs, they care less. Lots of minor injuries or pains occur as it’s manual labour at a fast pace. 
Since amazon is expanding so fast there is reason to believe a person can move up fast, but that could mean relocating. You’re also competing with others and if your manager isn’t going to stand up for you, you’ll more than likely stay where you are. They have a narrative to make you fee valued and like you will move up but it’s easy to read between their lines. 

What is the best part of working at the company?
I loved the independence as well as you did get bonused on your paychecks for doing quality work that they did. I mentioned to you prehand which was a bonus but I do have to say the management in Brampton was so horrible that I had to leave but it was the best job I ever had in my life. I wish I could have stayed there for a career as a picker

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The Packers for the pickers now I was a picker and if a packer is putting small, let's say very fragile items on the bottom of a row or a section and then boxes on top of it. Do you think it's easier for the picker to grab that little item from the bottom of the box or on the top of the box of the side of the box? It's about placement Packers. Do not know how to how to do their job properly and I can work miles around them

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
I loved it. Everyone there actually. Respectfully gave each other that respect that everyone needed, which was nice

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Depending on which line you're on, you could do a 2 hour and 45 minute shift with the half hour break. Do the rest of the half of your shift, half hour break then home. It's all about placement and morale of your employees. The best way to incorporate management is to get the worst part of the day done first while you're waking up so you're not thinking about it. This is psychological that way by the end of the day when an hour and a half comes by and is the hour of the day they're more productive because they say hey look. There's only this little bit left and they work harder even though they're more tired
