Overall, I had a great experience with this company. The training set me up for success, the job was challenging yet engaging, and the product was beautiful and high quality. 
Unfortunately, it was very cliquey and you could only advance within the branch if you were “in”. If you had any ambition for job advancement your options were slim. However, even if you weren’t part of the inner circle, you were still treated quite well and were supported. 
The pay was standard for the industry with a good benefits package. Overall, I would highly recommend working here. 


working at Ames Tile and stone is great. the people who work there are nice, smart, and fun. the environment in which they work in is great, it is a safe, loving and supportive. A typical day of work for me is, helping people in the show room, along with answering the phones and writing up orders. I have learned many things from Ames, such as how to write up orders, how to install tile. The management at Ames is good, they are understanding and accommodating. My co-workers are amazing they are always full of smiles, they like to have fun while working. The hardest part of my job is making sure i help everyone that i can to my full extent. The most enjoyable part of my job is helping people and working with great co-workers.

I can't say anything about the other locations but Calgary is horrible. Aside from the fact that you lose a days pay every 2nd month cause it's salary ( when I was hired i was told hourly) the staff is all family so it's really hard to fit in, no room for advancement saw 2 people get fired because the boss didn't like who they were as human beings .. ??  Lol just horrible avoid it at all costs !!  They preach that they're the highest paying tile job in Calgary but they're actually one of lowest do your due diligence before taking this job

I learned most of my customer services skills through this company. The co-workers were great to work with. Most of the managers were ok but a couple of them bring the rating down and I would be surprised if they are still there in 2 years. The hardest part about working at Ames was dealing with the busy rushes and inventory accuracy.  The most enjoyable part was dealing with regular customers.

My experience at Ames was very negative. The environment was unprofessional, and management did not take concerns about bullying or inappropriate behavior seriously. Instead of focusing on teamwork and productivity, the culture often rewarded attention-seeking and disrespect. I would not recommend this workplace to others!!!

This was a good company to work for pay was really good you are treated fairly well and they did lots of nice things at Christmas time I worked for them for 2 and a 1/2 years and it was a pretty good experience overall And the customers in the people that came in were very nice to deal with on a daily basis

Seems like everyone working at Ames had a smile on their faces all the time, I was included in conversation during coffee or lunch break, as if I was a regular everyday employee

Customers were rude and demanding, management fragmented with infighting.
High turnover of employees, with long hours.  Meetings were held after hours.

 The supportive environment fosters skill development and knowledge expansion. Leadership is approachable, and the company actively participates in various fundraising causes, promoting a strong sense of community.
