Amsterdam Brewery

Really busy and fast-paced restaurant. Wouldn’t recommend being a hostess there because you would oftentimes do more work than the servers. We would run their food and bus their tables while they hid in the back. Not to mention servers often treated you very poorly and would yell at you for things that aren’t your fault. As a host, there’s nowhere to hide when you’re on a radio channel with the managers. Job became very exhausting sometimes especially towards the end of the summer when most of us would do double shifts. However, management is genuinely very sweet and appreciative of all the hard work that you do and encourage breaks and rest if needed. Managers were easily the best part and they’d always bring snacks or food for staff.

Overall, my experience at Amsterdam Brewhouse over the past six months has been very positive. The training is strong, management is supportive, and the work environment is built on humility and teamwork. We get free breaks and free staff meals, and the chefs are extremely flexible and understanding about scheduling, which makes work-life balance much easier. The Executive Chef has a great personality—very supportive, approachable, and someone who leads by example.

The only downside is that servers and line cooks usually don’t get enough shifts for about half the year when business slows down, which can affect weekly hours.

Management cared little about you and your career related interests nor about helping you to progress and better thrive in your on-sight job there. They lured me in with the concept of tips and good hourly rates for events, yet they did not have a tip option on machine for customers, and took an extensive amount of time giving me tips from the few events they did book me in for. Impersonal managers could care less to get to know you and made it clear that they were above you. The managers were rude to staff, the best parts were other coworkers and supervisors, and mainly relaxed work settings. The power divide amongst other positions could not be ignored none the less. 

Amsterdam is a great place to work! It's a fast paced, medium size brewery with a small company feel. Employees are great, like one big family. Management tries to take care of their teams with both small gestures (coffee, doughnuts, pizza etc) and larger events. Given that it's a small/medium size company, there are less positions to advance into than a larger corporation would have, but in a growing company, the sky is the limit.

Amsterdam Brewing Co is a fantastic company to work for. There is a family culture that makes you feel right at home. Management is very supportive and gives you all the tools you need to succeed. Their product is one of the best out there which is backed up by many awards and brand recognition. 
I'd highly recommend working for this brewery! 


There is a lot to learn in this company. I've gained some technical and soft skills, but the management and workplace culture have their shortcomings. Some departments really struggle with work-life balance, which makes things tough.

The hardest part of the job is that the salary doesn't match the level of responsibility. This disparity is a significant issue that needs addressing.


Amsterdam Brewery treated me very well over the years and helped me develop in my personal and professional life. Management truly cares about their people and has a clear path to success and future growth. The people at Amsterdam Brewery become family. Strong brands with strong advertising behind them are pivotal to why Amsterdam is and will continue to be successful. 5 stars, 10/10 workplace. 

Work environment is truly terrible for those not in a senior position at the company. Terrible benefits and terrible pay for  Retail and delivery drivers. They are given great amounts of work with very limited resources to carry out tasks expected of them. Senior staff call the shots with out the basic understanding  of how the department they are supposed to run, functions. 

I honestly love working at Amsterdam Brewhouse. The work culture, the support from management, the team of co-workers, as well as the guests, really make Amsterdam a company I consider myself lucky to work for. Work hard and be rewarded at this company! 

The work load could be a lot at certain times because of the influx of guests, The kitchen has no windows so during the summer it feels like a sauna in there. Sometimes the work load was so much that  i would be there for like 12 hours.
