Andersons Liquor

I lasted only three days at this company during Easter weekend. First off, you work alone up till 11:00 pm, and most times, you must stay late for work. The inventory system is outdated, and the accounting system is as well, and these guys had to be the cheapest company I have ever worked for. You only got one shirt and were responsible for everything, including being a key holder for minimum wage. You also only get three days of training before being put to the wolves, and the training doesn't prepare you for the job. Company does not care about retaining staff or offer any real incentives to work there.

Minimum wage job for Sales Associates and always will be. No raises. Ever. 
You will be asked to use your own phone for company benefit. 
If you drive, you will be asked to use your own car to run errands or bring work related items to other locations. On your own time, no compensation offered.
If you stand up for your rights under Alberta's legislation, you will be forced out.
You will be treated with disrespect from everyone, from the CEO, store support staff, training staff, and anyone else who works at the "head office". 
Family owned business run like they have their own little fiefdom.

Upper level management is disconnected from the people on it's front lines who strive to produce the results required, and surpass set goals. 
Remuneration is dated and low comparably to the market today and the standards of Alberta living.
The most enjoyable part of my job was receiving credit memo's and demonstrating my strength as a leader by organization and compliance. I am proud of my accomplishments at this location.

typically work at night (closing shift). If other employees do their job tasks, makes your shift work go easy. Most time though other employees dont do their basic job tasks with no repercussion from managers. But, todays job market is its an employees world as staffing is hard to maintain

The only way you could get fired is by literally doing nothing over several weeks. This was a great job for me to have on weekends and do homework. The discount and "sales associate of the month" program is flawed, so extra benefits are a bit lacking when you actually commit to the work. Self motivation is KEY as you are by yourself every shift, and you need to be sure you are confident and firm when dealing with problem customers.

My day started with bank deposits and opening the store.
I was given the opportunity to manage the store after 3 months employment. I've learned  the ins and outs of the liquor industry.
We worked in a safe and secure environment, my employers wouldn't have it any other way.
I thoroughly enjoyed going to work, and saddened me to give my resignation due to returning to N.S.

Unfortunately this company doesn't care about the employees that work for them or their safety. they would rather make more money for themselves by doing as little for the stores as possible, no chances for advancement, no benefits, management doesn't know what they're doing either.

I enjoyed working there. The boss/supervisor was great to work for. if you did something wrong they addressed it with you in a positive manner and explanation. Easy to get along with. The hardest part was lifting the heavy cases but that was only once or twice a week when stock came in.

Was asked to do many things on my own time told to mark my time so I could be paid and then was scrutinized for requesting the payment. They wanted you to put your best foot forward with no reward. 

Great team atmosphere. lots of great customers. the management was attentive to their staffs needs as well as to the needs of the guests and company. There was also a cozy little break room.
