Few years back (my first CSR role probably), while I was working for one company, I remember being by myself in the Department, that was  one evening, when I received a customer who came to order a particular special item to me. I knew that I once had watched my supervisor doing the same order on computer but I had never ever had a training on how to do it.  With confidence, I started ordering the item on my system and my client was sitting beside.
Arrived in the middle of the transaction, I was stuck.  I did not know where to go, which  way or button to press. And then, we started looking one another.
After like 5 to 10 minutes without any word, an idea came into my mind, I called the assistant line for help.  The guy who I spoke to was so much helpful and he was able to lead me throughout the whole process.
Then I was able to help my customer although it took longer than expected.  I was so impressed on how my client was so patient and kind to me, until the end of the transaction. He understood me and finally was satisfied and pleased.
What I learned, when working, we won't be always easy things, we sometimes meet with hard situations that require immediate decision making.  In middle, it wasn't really funny, but it ended well at least and my client was served and happy. I compare this like life. Life is not always easy, sometimes it requires to push and squeeze. Challenges are good in particular times! They prepare you for the next level!!

My typical day at work was very relaxed. I'd arrive into work around 8-9am, set up at my computer, grab a glass of water and head on down to the working area. Depending on the say, say Friday, the day will be very relaxed, but Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday are more hands-on so to speak. That's when the pay stubs come in and have to be arranged into their locations and sent out. Cheques needed to be printed and so much more.

I learned so much while working at Aon Hewitt Canada. They have me a lot of opportunities, especially in the Payroll department. 

All my co-workers were nice, friendly, outgoing and most of all, helpful. Everyone is there to help out each other whenever needed. 

The hardest part of the job was Tax month. When that comes around all hell can break loose. Everything MUST be perfect and not a single person can be missed. Some nights we'd stay in the office until 9:30-10pm to get everything sorted. 

The most enjoyable part was the team I was working with. Yes, at times work was stressful, but the people I was working alongside made it easier and less stressful.

I thoroughly enjoyed working at Aon! A typical day at work included meeting with different stakeholders, IT onboarding processes, coordinating interviews, attending meetings and taking part in special projects regarding talent acquisition. 

The management and co-workers were amongst the best group I have ever worked with. My manager was extremely present, proactive and a great leader. I also made great long term friendships with the co-workers I met there. 

The most enjoyable part of the role was the work life balance factor – I absolutely loved that I was able to work from home which made it easy for me during my multiple doctor appointments. The hardest part of the job, (if I had to choose) could be that my manager was in another country but she made it very apparent that she was present and there for our team.

From my first week, which included watching Account Executives patting the rear end of young assistants, to a month later when my then boss stopped to greet me good morning but was distracted by a woman walking by and then commenting about how great her butt looked, moving on to a year or so later, another acct exec -  who in a department meeting actually said " we will only be hiring young women going further" and when approached on it by a concerned older woman, he quickly deleted her emails from both his and her computer  - no evidence to be found and he quickly shrugged off her inquiry. Male management all have each other's backs. They promote the odd woman but don;t offer her an office because they reserve them for new young men with no experience when they are hired. If you;re a woman who likes respect, this is not the place for you, unless your Mommy or Daddy works there - then you're a shoe-in.

Aon Canada (Aon Risk Solutions) is an employer with great employee benefits and work culture. Salary was above the industry standards. The only set back is, growth is very limited and restrictive. One has to spend years to reach a middle management level, unless he / she gets lucky working under a good boss.There is no visibility on what's happening at the leadership level and in the other functions to relate oneself to organization's vision. There is no job security as they take decisions on opening up new functions and closing down if they deem non-profitable. Aon also runs few departments (though loss making business) just to have the holistic risk portfolio. Overall, if someone wants to work for 2-3 years maximum, you can definitely consider this place. If you have high aspirations to work hard and grow rapidly in your career, this may not be the place.

Aon has great health benefits, pension and flexible working hours. They're great at leaving you to work how you like to work and don't care too much how you get the job done, just as long as it gets done. The global company has some great policies in place such as tuition reimbursement and continuing education support.

The biggest issue with Aon is they do not have any training in place at all, and have no idea how to give training. You are thrown to the wolves and then get frowned upon for not knowing how to do something. 

Aon looks great on your resume, but if you are not a person who can learn by osmosis, it's best to start your career at a different firm and consider Aon later in your career when you already know what you are doing.

Responsible to sell and service standard and VIP personal lines files with attention on account rounding and hard to place accounts. Overseeing sales and customer service for Southwestern Ontario offices, worked directly with clients, underwriters and supervisors to ensure client and company received the best fit and care. Running P&L, brokerage commission, sales, and various other reports.
The hardest part of the job is hearing customers complaints and not being able to do anything about it. (For example, customers who can't pay for devastating reasons still must be cancelled).
The most enjoyable part is the thrill of working on a difficult account, helping someone find a good product and rate, and being part of a great team.

A typical day at work is spent answering as many client calls as possible. Customer service is important, but developing a relationship with customers is discouraged as a callers are encouraged to not ask for particular brokers by name.
The best part of the job is helping clients find solutions for their insurance needs.
The hardest part (for me) is being constantly interrupted - not quite finishing up what you were doing for one client before having to stop and help another, then trying to find time to go back and finish what you started for the first client.
Management is generally friendly, but is focused on production (number of calls taken, time spent on each call, and revenue produced).

I’ve had the opportunity to work for Aon Hewitt for almost Four year. As we are aware, CIBC outsources Human Resources functions to Aon Hewitt. At Aon Hewitt, my job duties require me to handle incoming calls and communicate through a means of email correspondence with CIBC managers, directors, and executives. Furthermore, I also provide administrative support to our CIBC HR consultants with any inquiries they have regarding human resources policies, running reports in myHR or myTime, or simply assisting with transactions in either of these systems.  At Aon Hewitt, I use the People Soft software to access any specific employee data, as well as, CIBC & Me to provide any additional support. This job has really allowed me to gain a great working knowledge of CIBC’s business activities and organization structure.
