We are ALWAYS short staffed, which very quickly leads to staff burn out from constantly being over worked. It also is not fair to the residents who require various amounts of care.  Management does not seem to care. We are told that if we don’t like it “there’s the door”.  Staff also do not change reaidents’ briefs as much as they should and housekeeping does very minimal. It’s such a new and nice home that I don’t understand why it isn’t run properly but it’s very unfortunate.

Not a bad place to send your loved ones, but a terrible place to work. 
The workload is immense and too fast-paced. There's never enough staff. The risk of injury is too high, and when an injury occurs they are not understanding or fair. 
There's too much drama amongst staff. And management is always changing and they don't seem to know what they're doing. 

Overall good place to work. Good resident to staff ratio, sometimes short. Coworkers often complain about being short staffed but even with lots of sick calls, they fill most of the shifts. Clean, newer home. Free parking.  Although its not perfect it is definitely better than the homes I worked at before. The residents are well looked after. Managers are approachable.  

Was taken over by Revera Living and I would not recommend this as a healthy workplace for anyone. They are undergoing growing pains. Also, their culture is very different from the original owners.

Long term care is not doing well overall, particularly in Kingston. Staff challenged daily, every shift.

For the most part, was a non confrontational work environment. Most of the conflict comes from the employees and management that are unhappy in their work environment.There are a lot of regimented rules that are really strict,such as, not being able to smoke your own vehicle in the parking lot. Be aware of all of the rules and expectations as you may not be and receive reprimand.

Well, I have been here since we opened, and I will be honest in saying that I am part of the management team. I still think it is a great place to work after all these years. We only want individuals who want to be working with and caring for seniors-without them there is no Arbour Heights! I truly feel we have some of the best LTC staff around!

Busy day with giving medication, assisting with care when needed, booking appointments, processing doctor’s orders

Hardest part of job was trying to get all the tasks done in 8 hr shift.
Most enjoyable part of the job was to see the residents smile

At least 8 residents per PSW. PSW's required to work in dining room during meal times. Regularly understaffed. Unionized. Reliable nursing staff. very clean location, housekeeping/enviromental staff very hardworking an friendly. Good call bell system, all PSW's keep a pager on their person at all times.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Some of the co workers and mostly the residents! Management especially tge adminsistrator is on a power trip! Like a warden!

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The administrator! Job gone to head

Arbour Heights has an amazing recreation department that truly cares for their residents. They are passionate and create meaningful relationships, as well as create a quality of life for those residing there. There are plenty of options for all interests.
