Don’t work here. I worked here for over 12 years and never got ahead. If you work hard they will work you to death and if you say anything they cry about it. They expect you to work evenings and weekends if they need you even though you already worked 50-55 hours. And you don’t get OT pay, and the worst thing is, is that the pay wage is soo low you typically don’t have a choice.The bonuses you get are a joke and so are the benefits. If you do decide to work here go in with the worst attitude and do as little as possible you will be much better off in the end and screw up at least a few times per week so that way they don’t ask you work extra. They expect you NOT to want to book anytime off in the summer with your vacations and will ask you to change it if needed last second. Once a year there’s a meeting that’s mandatory to attend and surprise it’s NOT paid for. So after your shift or a Saturday morning 5-6 hours of your time is not paid, but at least you get a dinner...... the city equipment is absolutely garbage and is old or converted from older highway equipment. There’s no life balance from this company either you put up with the low daytime pay or go to the no life night pay. Which isn’t much better. You will never advance outside of where you start. Maybe in 20 years you can be a dock supervisor or dispatcher, and don’t expect those to be any better with shifts,pay and stress. They’re truly a horrible company to work for and would highly advise to steer clear at all costs.

Usually lots of work available. Can pick and choose your routes / destinations. Can work as much or as little as you want.
Staff is generally very supportive. You will get help with anything you ask, if the person you're speaking to cannot help you with a situation or advice, they'll point you to someone that can.
Management is quick to action when they can be found. Some have trouble remembering promises or conversation, but in general it's not a problem, they will work with you to keep things fair and people happy.
The pay is on par with other Maritimes carriers while benefits are pretty good and they pay additionally for waiting time and deliveries. Mostly a fair deal, especially compared with local competition.
Some equipment is old and run down, but in general everything works to a safe standard. Even oldest and ugliest equipment is generally safe and you will be pressed to find any defects during pre-tirps. And when you do, there's a cohort of mechanics that are right on the ball to fix stuff and have you moving.

Really, a great company, I wish it paid more, but who doesn't...

Most recent job was Data Entry which required sorting mail, identifying customer issue with payment, and entering large batches for Accounts Receivable.  I was also the primary phone attendant responsible to sort the Customer problems that resulted in service delays, errors in billing, any and all other issues regarding Customer Service with a Transport carrier.
I learned to mange my time efficiently, to sort  the callers problem quickly.
I felt that our direct management was not team driven as we were never consulted on issues that had to do with our department, or the way we provided service to our customers.
My co-workers were a mix of great people who worked under pressure to perform.
The most difficult for me was the constant distractions, and the noise level in the office.
The best part of the day was lunch, when we could relax and catch up with each other.

Beware!!! I worked here for all of three weeks and was let go for taking home my truck so that I could clean and vacuum, I also stopped for groceries as that I would be sleeping, eating, living in my truck for five full days and nights... 

My Run was from Port Aux Basque to St John's, and then central Newfoundland and East... 
I was dedicating every hour I could driving 900+ kms daily, Completed all Training and paperwork necessary to become a full time employee and to think that my first week of becoming full time I end up getting fired for wanting to gear up my truck for the week ahead shocked me to say the least, I feel the jobs that were offered to me
(which I turned down thinking Amour was my future) would of been better opportunities because I can see now why they have so many job postings, I feel I've done nothing wrong to deserve to be terminated, without just cause and if I were to give anyone advice on a personal level, three weeks of wasted time,  Beware!! Beware!! Beware!!

During my time at Armour Transportation I was responsible for entering freight bills for customer/business shipments. I also handled  customer service dealing with problems and questions that a shipper/receiver might have about their products being shipped.

I learned how to work under pressure and meet deadlines for each and every week. 

Management was great at Armour. They were always concerned about employee questions and needs.

My co workers were easy to get along with as well as willing to help.

The hardest part about the job was the amount of work that had to be done in the summer season. Many shipments were going out and bills needed to be entered and sent out. Would normally have stay for 10 hours days during the summer.

The most enjoyable part of work was the group environment. Everyone at Armour had a great personality and easy to work with so even bad days were not so bad.

I’ve been with Armour as a driver for about 15 years. It used to be a decent job with good equipment and qualified dispatchers. Things have been going downhill, and fast, in the past few years. 

Dispatching has become a nightmare, especially at night and on the weekends. I’m not sure that they could organize a two car parade. In order to save a few bucks, many newcomers have been hired as dispatchers. One wanted to send me to Sussex from Moncton but had no idea where Sussex was located, for example. 

You show up to pick up a load and it has already been assigned to « their friends ». Many long time drivers are choosing to leave. Maybe that’s the plan. It feels like squeezing every cent to make a profit is Armour’s goal. More and more equipment (especially trailers) are dropped without advising the shop that there are issues (bad tires, air supply issues, damage). 

It used to be a great place to work but it has become an exercise in frustration to go out every day or night. 

I have been a driver for 20 years, and have decided to come back home to work, and decided to give Armour a chance. 

I am shocked on how unorganized the place is, every terminal is the same, they are losing long time staff and replacing them with newcomers that just cannot keep up with not have the knowledge in the industry to be consistent and effective. 

There is so much waiting around due to under qualified dispatch that the money wasted would be in the millions. 

The drivers are the ones feeling the pinch, because upper management insists on saving a few bucks on the logistics end, and due to that being poorly run they have to make cuts. 

This will be another larger carrier that hire only newcomers that can do a mediocre job, and they can keep the wages low and profits up until they just fail like many other companies that take the same mentality of low wages over reliable, qualified work. 



There are no locations for any of the product, it changes every week and no one tells you if we're out of something. The shipping process is not the greatest, if you can't do it they will watch you fail and then let you go a month later. The pickers work like they're unionized, no support and will argue with your duties.
Supervisors are only there to keep moral up, even when bad things occur.

Safety is not a concern there. No circle checks for the machines and disregard of operating practices are being used, I fear someone will get hurt one day. This includes walkie and forklift operators.

Head manager is new and does not understand the process of a proper warehouse. The lead hand is constantly running around trying to do the best he can but everyone is so new.

Work here but don't expect much

The men and women at Armour were great to work with and we worked as a team. 
That was because we had to the company lacked proper management in all departments. I worked at the Sydney Terminal and I had lots of Job security because no one wanted my "run" it was long hours and I was refused overtime pay no matter how many hours a day were worked. The work was heavy it wasn't easy by any means and it was hard to have management approve extra help to assist because the customer may not have paid for a 2 person delivery (even though it was required). 
I had a lot of laughs and good times working there but it simply was not for me and probably not for everyone... If you want to feel appreciated and feel as though you can make a difference then this is not the company for you. If you need a paycheck it's there.
