I've had the pleasure of working for A&B on a few projects, roughly 4 years altogether. They seem pretty top-heavy in the office but that's because they've retained many well experienced personnel over their 6 decades in operation. I'd still be working for them but I can't afford 3 week breaks between gigs often. Because they have so many managers, it's hard to find the work before it starts. Their HR department gets you nowhere once you're onboard. No benefit package offered during my employment either.

But on the bright side, they pay regularly and the cheques have never bounced, plus they keep a fairly new fleet of trucks and equipment for the boys. Just keep going while the going is good, you never know when their next gig will kick off.

Good mentorship and opportunities for growth. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Some personalities are tougher to deal with. Must be adaptable and not take things personally. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Safety First. Employee recognition. Positive and like a family. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Busy and fun. Always learning something new.

Working with hard working men in the oilpatch was and is one of the most exciting experiences in my life! I think I've learn more about myself as a individual from working here. I feel as if I understand more about my life and want it meant to put in hard work, something I think my generation is seriously lacking. I think hard jobs like this shape the individual for the best!

Typical day at work consited of up early to find out something was wrong or poor planning of the transportation manger. Learned how to cover for the transportation mangers bid jobs that took long over the bid rate, so he could hide the hours over onto other jobs. Clicky work place transportation manger always bringing his problems from home and take them out on his drivers..you will be liked or you will be fired and they like doing that.

Worried about the spread boss stabbing you in the back

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
It’s very clicky. If you don’t fit in they treat you like garbage 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Unorganized chaos and bosses who don’t know what they are doing

Had a good run the last 12yrs. Due to current economic situation the work is not rolling in like it did even a year ago. When they have work they like to see production and things getting done professionally and in a timely matter. Not much room for advancement into a supervisor role at the moment. Old guys with experience and knowledge they like to keep on the equipment .

A typical day at work was never the same. we could be building a lease or erecting structural pieces for pipe. I would be operating a 5 ton picker truck on-site or travelling to and from other sites picking up or placing structural pieces for the job. I would be put on sites for safety watch if other contractors were scheduled to be there without company supervision

Really good wages and some pretty decent people

Where you were working that day and with. Who.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Go hard and getter done. Found it hard to fit in. Very cliquey

I had no complaints with the company in general. The Regina manager was kept in the dark with what his Project Manager did and didn’t do. The General Manager from Alberta was an awesome person to deal with and a good person. But didn’t deal with the one bad apple soon enough.

This job was one of the hardest I have done hands down. We worked a minimum of 24 day on at a minimum of working 12 hours plus 2 hours total commuting time with only 4 days off at the end. The longest shift I hauled on was 36 days and then I needed to go home to see the family for a couple days. I don't regret taking this job on it felt rewarding.
