If you got a job with this company it means you had an in at the union. They don't hire on merit but who you know or how hard they think they can ride you. 

If something goes wrong do not expect any help from the union except if you have a special connection and even then it is only to find employment elsewhere.

Save yourself the problems. You are better off at home on EI than taking a job that will just leave you with anger. 

All the positive reviews are damage control but it is like trying to put a band aid on a dam. 
Worst management, project managers and most of the workers who are unionized and work as though they are some special snowflakes. Not all the workers were bad but most were just nasty.

Expect to be thrown under the bus frequently. This is the toxic culture everyone is talking about. The senior project manager reminiscent of the Führer reincarnated. The most disrespectful person with disdain for humans in general. I would not want to see what he has in his basement.
The owners are no better. Classless with money. Money can never buy class or character it just amplifies whatever you came in with. 

No HR except one big mama at the office who is sour like lime sprinkled with vinegar.

Just stay away.

I was hired about two years ago and have seen this company turn 270 degrees for the worse. I was actually hired before the CFO was and then it all went bad! People are all snakes in this company. Management is barely ever there, always on vacation and they try to intimidate you. A new kid was hired who seemed like a good fit but he disappeared quick (fired). Another girl worked here for a few months and got fired as well. I think from the time I started, about 8 people have been fired? A few more have quit. If you want to stay here, do not talk to anyone, no one is your friend. You will get used, squeezed and then thrown out. 

No HR department, which is a shame becasue about 300 people work here. 

I guess a plus is that there are fruits? Coffee is terrible. Printing is monitored. No parking anywhere, good luck finding it within a 5 minute walk.

I learned a lot working with this company and worked alongside some great people. The company does a variety of different types of plumbing/ gas fitting and some steam as well in the commercial sector. A great learning experience, especially for an apprentice. 
A word of caution though. Although the majority of the coworkers and superintendents/foremen/lead hands I worked with or under were great and respectable people. There are definitely some snakes in the grass working with this company. My meaning behind that, is they act like a buddy thats good to work along side. Or to have as a team lead. But they will quickly throw you under the bus to save their skin. Up to and including false accusations. There are great work experiences to be had, just double check your work and cover your butt.

Working for Arpi's was a fun learning experience, what i got out of it was continuing my apprenticeship and being apart of projects for the city. What i enjoyed about it was having a secure job at one location and working towards my apprenticeship. Even though i wasn't apart of the management i would see them discussing about production in the shop and how to better production in a safe manner. For the workplace culture there is a wide variety of people and people sometimes don't see eye to eye. The hardest part would probably be laboring and coming up with solutions for the fittings and projects on task. I think the most enjoyable part of the day would be learning something new to exceed and better ourselves as individuals.

There is nothing positive about this company. If you have something positive to say, it is the company trying to save face. There were three project managers working for Arpi's when the review was made and two of them put in their resignation. No one was moving to the East Coast, there were people from the East Coast; but not going back for a work opportunity. 

Now if you love a job that will keep you on your feet, be involved in gossip and be imitated by the CFO and Management; then this is the job for you! Step right up! 

Honestly this job is good if you plan to sit and do nothing and never advance. As soon as you show you have the drive, they get intimidated and fire you for being too productive.

Overall a pretty good place to work. The company does favour some ignorant and union minded workers. Some of the best sheet metal workers around. Lower level journeymen, not so much, based on safety and risk assessment. Never overly fond of safety, you may be pressured into dangerous positions and insulted by lower level employees. Since when they're busy, you may be berated for not breaking safety rules. (dangerous ones) overall a good company. Almost fell 4 stories down a shaft and was called girly hands for  choosing to drop the material over falling to my death, case in point.

Hard work doesn't feel valued here. Management decisions are frustrating, and job security is weak (unless you're a part of the inner circle).  The employees who show up, work hard, and carry the workload often seem to be the first ones to be let go, while others aren't held to the same standard.

Safety standards need major improvement. People operate machinery without proper certification, while employees who actually have the required tickets aren't properly trained or given opportunities to use them, even when requested. It creates an unsafe environment and shows lack of concern for proper safety practices. 

Definitely don't rock the boat. Don't rely on anyone to have your back. Be prepared to be thrown under the bus. Most jobs are well over on labor because of poor upper management but will blame everyone on the site for this. Material procurement is an absolute joke. Expect to wait between 2 weeks to a month for basic Material. Unless the idea came from the Field operations manager then it's a bad idea. Safety culture is non existing. Backstabbing and old way culture is why this is a terrible choice of a Mechanical company to work for. Don't waste your time.

Contract Senior Estimator at Arpi's....workplace was professional, liaised with the engineering/procurement/accounting to make sure materials, contracts and cost estimates were on budget and in order.  Never had a problem with management.  Staff was friendly, you did your job and went home and got a nice pay check for that.  Socializing too at work and getting into other people's business just causes tension and will only create a hostile work environment.  I moved out East or else I would have stayed with Arpi's.  Great company to work for, always treated me fair and with respect.

Horrific safety culture as evidenced by their deplorable safety statistics. Serious lack of leadership & support. No accountability from management. Employees are all stretched paper thin which leads to their high turnover rate. HR is an absolute joke!! Unreasonable expectations with no team atmosphere. Unethical & unprofessional staff & management. Employees are dispensable to upper management. By far the worst place I've had the misfortune of working. Would not reccomend this so-called company to anyone!!!
