A typical day at work would begin by reading the communication journal and checking stock levels before starting.

I learned to listen as a bartender.  Most people just want to be heard and respected.  I learned how to keep my composure, prioritize, and get in the 'zone' during high-stress, busy situations.  Multitasking is a must in this field.

Management is excellent.  There's an open door policy, and the GM is always available to listen.  The GM puts extra effort into making sure the place is set up for success.  She makes a point to work along-side the staff, and to get to know our customers personally.  Plus she is very eco-concious!

Co-workers get along like a large family.  We look out for each other and always strive for common ground.  It is a very team-oriented atmosphere.

The hardest part of the job would be dealing with patrons who have had too much to drink.  It can be very unpredictable at times.

The best part of the job is making people happy.  Telling jokes, performing magic tricks, solving the world's problems, sharing what you've learned at university are part and parcel of daily life at the Artful Dodger.

The head chef will expect you to know everything within 7 shifts. All the staff talk negative about each other behind their backs, you spend most of the time out back on smoke breaks rather than being taught the job. The training is absolutely horrible, every person who trains you tells you to do it their way, if you don't pick up everything fast you will be one of the ones they talk about, rather than helping you work on getting better. DO NOT APPLY HERE!!!

I enjoyed my time working at the Artful Dodger Pub. I just wish the kitchen staff wasn't so negative and hard to work with. Last time I was there communication wasn't great between the front house and the kitchen, but new management may have made changes to it. It was extremely close to where I live but I simply wasn't achieving what I wanted here. Someday, I will be working here again soon.

You would think that there's a higher chance customers would be your main problem, its the opposite here. Creepy af staff esp the older ones. Management needs to spend more time managing and stop treating their employees solely as numbers. Apparently there's been an ownership shift, but I'd still advise you to explore better options.

Worked in the kitchen for 2 months before being let go over text because of a drop in customers and thus work. Good pay, free food for kitchen staff, supportive coworkers, but the schedule was only posted on thursday/friday for the following week which made knowing when you worked incredibly difficult.

My experience started out great, but slowly the toxic staff environment turned it into a nightmare.  The head chef no longer cares about his work.  Maybe at one time he did.  The night staff is grumpy and complains about other employees non-stop for the entire 8 hour shift.

Spend 2.5 years there ,enjoyed my time there.Would probably still there if not for moving out of province for family management was very professional and friendly.

managers could not understand that when the kitchen is closed that it means the kitchen isn't making any more food. they would constantly hand out menus and expect the kitchen staff to prepare food after already cleaning the kitchen and signing out.

I liked most of the front staff and evening staff, but the daytime kitchen staff are miserable.
The managers really care and everyone seems to be connected to everyone somehow through friends or kids in school.

Co workers are all friendly and helpful in all aspects. Delivery shifts can be lucrative and customers were always friendly. Low stress environment with realistic expectations.
