Askews Foods

Askews is a great place for students to work due to the accommodative work hours and the ability to choose what days work best for you. On the downside the management only likes you if you are friends with them or an incredibly hard working employee and have proved yourself. The environment can be toxic and boring and you often feel useless because the work flow is slow half the year. But what was the most unfair to employees was the training period unless you are already use to working in a grocery store they throw you into the work and barely trust you to do anything that isn’t making the shelves look pretty then judge you for not knowing what to do. while working there i saw this time and again you basically have to learn by watching employees and constantly asking for things to work on 

Store got busy close to lunch, supper, Gov't pay days, special occasions, summer and vacation days. Store was slow when there was no: Meat Sale, Customer Appreciation Day, Special occasions. Hardest part of the day dealing with unruly customers. Most enjoyable time of day: breaks and home time! Lol! Most enjoyable time when cashiers were busy with customers.

Askew's is a good place to work, in my opinion. I work at the downtown location and everyone is super nice, it can be slow sometimes, but it's hardly ever frantically busy. Really nice customers, have never really had any terrible experiences personally. Management is very accommodating of time off, needing to leave early/come in late, stuff like that. The hours can be pretty long since you technically have to be there for 9 hours, with an hour break for lunch, but you get used to it pretty fast. Nice place to work overall. 

I loved it there every one I worked with were friendly and caring. Work life balance was great and every one had each other back. The managers where very understanding and help in your over all success. If two employees where not getting along the managers would do their best to help fix the situation. 

this was my first official job and honestly I would have stayed and been just as happy. the management really seemed to care about their staff. I always felt supported to excel and safe from rude or threatening customers. the only down side was that it was hard to advance. you basically started and stayed in the same job.

Management does not focus on their employees. If you work for them you can get away with almost anything because they do not care about you. You will never make more money there because they are so out of touch with the economy.

Actually working at askew's was good, the other coworkers and working with the public.  
Management made it very difficult and gave the feeling of not wanting to be there more often than not unfortunately.

I loved my time at Askews Foods, it is a positive and healthy work space, the management is great and so kind, and very accepting. The store is a great size, and very familiar with good prices, and friendly customers.

This was my first job. I worked as a cashier here for many years. It’s a nice place to work. There aren’t really any employee perks. You can wear leggings which is nice, most grocery stores don’t allow leggings which is super lame. 

Askews has a great working culture. Full time work with benifits after 3 months. Retirement contributions after an year. All staff in each department are friendly and helpful.
