Every role at the company is going to look a little bit different as far as what your day to day experience is, but I can guarantee that you will have to do pounds of paperwork that is not beneficial or meaningful to anyone except management. I feel fulfilled about 30% of the time - the time I get to work with clients who are actually a good fit for the programs. The other 70% of the time, I am working with people who were inappropriately referred and are accepted anyways or doing the tedious paperwork that is required in every role. The culture in this workplace is one of miscommunication and lack of accountability. I truly and honestly believe that management does not care about the well-being of the staff or clients. The benefits are pathetic for people working in the mental health sector. You get 80% coverage up to $500 for pretty much everything - yes, including therapy. The PTO is laughable and inequitable. 
The only part of this job I enjoyed were my peers and the meaningful connections I made with clients. I would recommend looking elsewhere.

Cons: 
- pay not enough 
- supervisors play favorites 
- unfair expectations on employees - some are held accountable and others aren't 
- cliques within the organization among higher-ups and some have been there for more than 20 years 
- not open to hearing employee feedback around change/improvement
- within certain programs, not enough flexibility around what models and approaches to use 
- focus too much on the result and not process when it comes to working with clients

It has been a privilege to work at Associated Youth Services of Peel.  I have been at this organization for 23 years and I have enjoyed my time here so much.  They have the most amazing and friendly staff, a great work life balance, room for growth within the company and so much more.  They are willing to teach someone eager to learn and treat their employees with respect and kindness.  As I head into my retirement, I am truly going to miss all of my colleagues!  Thank you for the memories!

Was really excited to work here when I first started. Job was great and colleagues were kind/willing to help. I knew about the lower compensation but was willing to put in the effort. The counselling supervisor is a textbook micromanager. Made working in this environment extremely difficult. Your job is not secure if you work here. 

Senior management manage rather than lead.  Supervisors try then give up.  Union is focused on protecting specific staff who lack skills needed to be successful with kids and families.  
They say they value ar/ao aop however not reflective in positions of power or in staff. 



AYSP offers much support and growth opportunities for their staff. Work is hybrid with flexible hours, which provides great work-life balance. I resigned because I moved away but appreciate the 9 years I spent at AYSP and all those who work there. 

Intensive and detailed career.  Co-workers are amazing. Day to day opportunities to learn and grow. I enjoyed the opportunities afforded me to train new workers, facilitate groups and meet a diverse population of people.

They are extremely disorganized. The organization services a lot of diverse people but the staff is mostly Caucasian, I've gotten several complaints about this from clients. Managers micromanage employees. Your job is not secure if you are new because of the way that the union is set up.
