In recent years, I found myself employed at a company that promised opportunities for personal and professional growth. At the outset, this seemed like an exciting venture. However, as time passed, my tenure at Assured revealed a myriad of issues that made it a challenging place to work. In this essay, I will provide an honest, albeit anonymous, account of my experiences at Assured, highlighting various aspects that contributed to its challenging work environment.

First and foremost, communication within the company left much to be desired. Open and transparent communication is crucial for fostering a healthy work environment, yet at Assured, it often seemed like a luxury. Information regarding company policies, changes in procedures, and even day-to-day tasks was frequently unclear or unavailable. This lack of communication not only hindered efficiency but also created unnecessary confusion and frustration among employees.

Another significant challenge was the working conditions. Assured often struggled to maintain basic facilities and equipment. For example, the working areas were not adequately maintained, leading to an uncomfortable and sometimes hazardous environment. Furthermore, the inadequate supply of necessary tools and materials made it difficult to perform daily tasks efficiently. These working conditions not only affected employee morale but also raised concerns about safety and health.

Moreover, the work-life balance at Assured was frequently disrupted. The company imposed unrealistic demands on employees, often expecting them to work very hard for little compensation. This negatively impacted the overall well-being of the workforce and led to high levels of burnout and stress.

Furthermore, the management at Assured appeared disconnected from the needs and concerns of its employees. Decisions often seemed to be made without considering the input of those directly affected. The absence of a supportive and empathetic management team resulted in a lack of motivation among employees.

In addition, the company’s compensation structure raised concerns. Employees often felt that their hard work and dedication were not adequately recognized or rewarded. This created a sense of dissatisfaction and demotivation among the workforce.

In conclusion, my experience at Assured was marked by challenges that stemmed from issues related to communication, working conditions, work-life balance, management, and compensation. While every workplace has its difficulties, the collective impact of these challenges created a less than favorable work environment at Assured. It is important to acknowledge that improvements are possible, and by addressing these issues, companies can create a more positive and rewarding workplace for their employees.

Management is terrible, doesn't deal with issues that arise in the work place. Even though most issues would benefit the managers shop and their bonus at the end of the month, simply didn't care.  Terrible communication within the shop on repairs and repair status for CSR'S to be able to give customer updates. Very poor pay, you can have years of experience and still start as basically minimum wage. Employee's are under appreciated for their any extra efforts they're asked or offer to put in. Management makes promises or try's to bribe you with stuff then doesn't follow through with anything. No one seems to actually care about the shop being successful because it's corporate. Nothing was followed up on. If your just starting out don't expect much or any training at all &
when you need help management is usually to busy to care and you never end up getting the help or guidance you asked about. Doesn't seem like a place where advancement is really possible either management will say it is but, when it comes down to it nothing happens.  Be prepared for your job description to change multiple times within even a 6 month period by being expected to do other peoples jobs with very little to no training at all and then be criticized when you make mistakes. Constanly having angry customers because their vehicle has been at the shop for 3+ weeks and they haven't touched it yet or because repairs were completed poorly but it was close to the end of the month and manager relased it to try and hit month end numbers then either didn't deal with said issues or just never/forgot to respond to the customer. Worst workplace I have ever experienced yet hands down! Glad I got out!  **Armstrong and Kingsway shops seemed to certainly have their ducks in a row and were able to get things done in a timely manner. Wish I could say the same about Chelmsford location, wouldn't recommend anyone working at Chelmsford location unless management has changed within the last two years** Haven't heard anything good about chemmy even recently.

Working at Assured Automotive there are a couple things at least in my location (South Barrie) you have to be aware of:

Pay/Compensation:
Unlike other locations our CSR's and Estimators who are usually two different people have been combined here. So as a CSR you're also being trained to be a Collison Estimator with the same pay as a CSR. Typically a $15,000 ~ pay difference between a CSR and an Estimator. So beware to do a $60,000/year job for significantly less. 

Front End Staff & Management: 
The front end staff where I work is nice and easy to get along with. A great team upfront with that serves our customers. Our Management, General Manager and Controller are two fantastic people who make work fun and engaging, while having us work at our best everyday - which I personally find motivating. 

Back End Staff: (Technicians, Detailers & Apprentices) 
If you have to go into the shop make sure you take everything with a grain of salt and forget about asking any tech to help you because they wont. They are nice to your face but talk about you behind your back. The detailers do a mediocre at best job and as a CSR customers are somewhat dissatisfied and or not happy with the level of cleaning was done after there vehicle was in the shop - especially when the claim is above $15,000 or more. 

In conclusion, if Assured was to pay us all more like an Estimator rather than a CSR, I think the overall job satisfaction would raise, considering were doing a $60k+ job for Significantly less. Stay upfront and avoid the shop as much as you can. 

What is the best part of working at the company?
The best part of working at the company is the strong sense of teamwork and support we receive every day. Our manager is incredibly encouraging and always motivates us to perform at our best while providing the guidance and support we need to succeed. He truly cares about helping the team reach our goals together.

In addition, our work environment is very positive. Everyone works well together, supports one another, and contributes to creating a happy and motivating atmosphere. It makes coming to work enjoyable and inspires us all to do our best every day.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
While every job has occasional challenges, the overall atmosphere is positive and not overly stressful.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Management is encouraging and always willing to support employees, which creates a motivating atmosphere where people feel valued and appreciated. Overall, it is a professional yet friendly environment that makes coming to work enjoyable.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
A typical day at the company involves working closely with customers, insurance companies, and team members to ensure repairs and services are completed efficiently and professionally. The environment is not too fast-paced and allows us to make sure customers are taken care of and daily goals are achieved.

There should be an AA group called "Assured Anonymous" for current and former employees with ptsd. I can now laugh with other former employees about our HORRIBLE experiences, but at the time it was not funny at all. SAD JUST SAD. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

I worked here for 3 years, extremely stressful, no recognition, low pay, toxic culture. I tried to overlook it all and worked hard to make money but the place gets to you. Women are treated poorly at the shop level. Store managers, operations, senior management offer the same bs. They present low salaries promising that their so-called bonus program that will offset the difference. It's all BS as they don't make money so you don't either. They "promote" people but don't offer titles so that you can NEVER LEAVE. 'Everyone's a manager' even though you have a CSR or detailer title forever. It's a DEAD END job. It's done intentionally so you can't apply to other companies for decent jobs.

If you have another option, go with that... 

I have worked at this location for over 10 years in the shop and through the ownership change to Assured. 

I was very skeptical of the change but have to say that the company and management team are the best I've ever had at this shop. They treat us like people with the managers often working with different departments and making sure we have what we need. They also always listens when we have a problem, even if its personal. I know of 3 people they have personally helped when they didnt need to because they actually care. front line or shop staff they treat us all the same.

Yes they can be tough but only when people deserve it. Yes its busy and frustrating at times but what workplace isnt. Lazy and uninterested workers are always the first to complain about the company. I have been offered jobs at other shops for more money but haven't taken it for a reason.

If you work hard and as a team, it is a great company to work for.

What is the best part of working at the company?
I am now entering my 18th year with the company, and it has been an amazing organization to work for and grow with. The dedication to continuous training and the ability to adapt quickly to the ever-changing industry and volume truly keeps you engaged. Furthermore, the competitive pay, excellent benefits program, and RRSP contributions are the icing on the cake.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
It is definitely a faced paced industry and there is always something to do. If you like staying busy this is the company for you.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Although our location remains busy year-round, we consistently manage to finish our work by closing time. I deeply value the balance between our professional and personal lives, and I am committed to ensuring that everyone on the team has the same experience.

I have had the privilege of being part of the Assured Automotive team for over 10 years, and I cannot emphasize enough the remarkable growth and opportunities I have experienced during my time here . Starting as a detailer and gradually progressing through various positions, I eventually reached the role of General Manager within just a few years. This accomplishment speaks volumes about the company's commitment to recognizing and nurturing talent.

I am grateful for the countless opportunities Assured Automotive has provided me, allowing me to challenge myself, learn new skills, and take on increasing responsibilities. The culture we have in place at our shop is plain and simple, We're a team . We work hard but we never forget to have fun. The most enjoyable part of my job is seeing the repair process from start to finish and seeing the reaction on the customers faces, getting the necessary feedback to see if there are any areas that we can improve on and taking that knowledge and bettering our customer service.  Assured is growing and creating the standard for the collision repair industry and is a great company to get on board with.
