This company is simply a scam. It pays its employees way under minimum wage and expects them to work 50 or more hours a week. Another crucial point to note is that new employees are not paid a salary for the first three weeks of the job. So you're basically working for them for free for the first three weeks. Say goodbye to your social life as you'll find yourself coming home around 9 pm everyday and have to up by 6 am the next morning. Also, the management tend to offer their employees a lot of empty promises of job growth. If you do get promoted, you're not gonna see a salary increase. Instead the only thing to increase are the expectations of you. If you do your research on this company you will also notice that these guys operate under a lot of names in North America. To tell you up front, these guys are serial scammers. They rely on their employee turn over rate. They make their new employees work for them for free for the first three weeks (as new employees only get a salary after three weeks have passed!) and after they quit, they simply hire new people and repeat the exploitation cycle. They also expect their employees to pay for their own transportation costs when they are in the field which basically takes more out of your earnings (if you have any with this job!). If you have responsibilities and bills to pay or simply want to earn money to save up, this job is definitely not for you.

I’ve been working here for a few months now.  I started in an entry level role, where I received in-office training as well as hands-on in-field sales training.  The support and guidance I felt from day one made me really comfortable and allowed me to see quick improvements with my performance and my confidence.  Being surrounded by other hard-working individuals definitely helped me step my game up and made it fun and productive.  Once I became consistent in the sales role I was elevated into a leadership role, where I now am responsible for developing and training a small team of people.  I’m excited to learn more in this role and see where this will take me; the company is looking to expand and open new offices throughout all provinces of Canada which will allow management opportunity for those doing well.  I’m definitely looking forward to continuing with Astoria, learning more and hopefully growing this into a long-term career.  Highly recommend if you are motivated and like working in a team and are looking to take on more of a supervisor/leadership role in the near future.

I started working with this company right after graduating from university. I loved the fact that they were able to provide training for all of the real world skills I would need to be successful in a career with them, as well as these skills will make me ten times more valuable to any company if I ever decide to leave. I played competitive hockey my entire life, as well as at university, I strongly recommend this company to any young professional coming from an athletic background. The work environment is family oriented, but also is very competitive which keeps me excited to wake up every morning. Not to mention the growth has been incredible, I learned sales skills early on, but they then trained me how to be in a leadership role to take on professional leadership. I now get an opportunity to focus more on developing great individuals and help others be more successful. If you have a positive attitude and are willing to put in the work ethic, this would be the place to be!!

They claimed there's a hourly wage in the interview stage but the reality is the pay is 100% commission. You will be sent to Canadian tire store and try to sell credit cards to random people, If you can't sell any credit card you will not make a penny for 10 hours day. Typically people get paid around $300 per week. And they will encourage you to work for long hours to get better results, this is a company that 100% profit oriented and never care about their staff. The only thing they do for staff retention is making big promises of promotion and getting rich quickly. Obviously that makes no sense if people are paid way below minimum wage. So the turn over rate is a joke, but they don't care because as long as you leave in first three weeks, you won't get paid. BTW, i can guarantee you almost all the five-star reviews are from company itself. 

It is a company of a completely doubtful character. They hired 90% of employees are foreign, because it's easier to cheat, and they just "pay" three weeks later. Nobody in the Company knows how works the payment because in the hiring process they will promise something, and they will do differently. It's not only me saying that. 

You start to work at 8:30 AM and just end when the Canadian Tire closes. 

It's funny the morning meets. In an extremely shallow way, incentives you to work without payment and promises to get rich very quickly. 

Every day they put more than 15 people in a small room, the majority without masks, very dangerous nowadays. 

If you would like to work in a safe environment and receive money for your work, don't join the company.


I have an amazing experience at Astoria. The CEO has helped me learn so much ever since I got there and even if its not the most rewarding job in the world, the learning environment is amazing and the experience is incredible. I have become a more positive and outgoing person which I believe is gonna help me in any job I can. I currently get many job offers but none of them sound interesting as the opportunity I have here. I have seen people get promoted. People that give bad reviews usually weren't just good at sales and its fine but its not the company's fault. If you give it a chance, this company can surprise you so much 

This company is in one word a scam! It won’t pay you even if you make sales. They will do anything and everything not to pay you your commissions. You will end up working very long hours and traveling out of your pocket and when you make sales, your supervisor will take all the credit and pay. 

They hire young students and tell them there is so much growth and career opportunities and they work them for full three weeks in the name of training. Whatever they sell during those three weeks is part of their ‘training’ and they won’t pay you. They when those new hires quit they continue with the cycle of hiring more people and not paying them!

I've randomly stumbled across this job, and I'm so happy I did !!
I've had the chance to apply most of the subjects I've learned during school (Business Administration Marketing program). 
I've entered a very positive, encouraging, and professional environment where I learned a lot on client relationship, sales, direct marketing, and how to run a business in general. 
Mostly excited about the growth opportunity here.

The people and the atmosphere of the company is what made this job tolerable. Lots of excitement and encouragement from all the members of the team. A lot of fundamental sales and business leadership skills were taught during training which was useful. However, in terms of pay, it was unfair as there was no salary and only commission based. And the commute to and from the office and to the retail store was not accounted for pay. Neither was the training in the office. Overall, unfair in terms of pay.

I appreciate the team environment. No politics- black and white rules on how to move up in the company and get promoted.  This is a people-oriented business and character is everything.  I am someone who needs mentors I can first-hand relate to and I believe I have found that here.  Nowhere else will the management team take an interest in you and genuinely want to help you.  The after-work team building events are amazing and the travel opportunities are awesome.  I was just in Montreal 2 weeks ago and I had never been before! I am excited about my career here.
