The company's hay day was over by the time I joined the team, though at the beginning I did not know that.  I would open the store, see what head office communication there was for the day, review any new sales initiatives, start implementing them or organize incoming staff to start implementing them, review sales from the previous day against projections, review what we sold on the same day in the previous year, implement any merchandise changes, receive/ship out merchandise, fill the floor from back stock where necessary, answer telephones, organize staff sales goals for the day, hire, train, discipline, fire staff as required (I disliked firing people, but it did happen once).  So everything above is some of what I did on the job.  I was also management in that environment, so I helped essentially run the store.  I had a young staff comprised of mostly teenagers, who were great and willing to do anything that I did and I made it a point to lead by example. We had fun, we worked hard, and I kept them all laughing as much as possible. The hardest part of the job was that the company was in transition and as such all of us eventually lost our jobs to restructuring.

Everyday was different from the next.  I was always dealing with all types of customers.   Happy, sad, angry, young, old, knowledgeable and people who had many questions about our products.  9 times out of 10 I would my customers leave happy with their experience shopping in the store. I would also display new stock in the store.  I had the responsibility of the cash, doing the paper work needed and opening and closing of the store.  The management and staff were very knowledgeable and friendly.  They were all a delight to work with.  The hardest part of my job was dealing with the customers who would come in very unhappy with their purchase.  I learned how to properly deal with these customers and have them leave happy and also return in the future.  I learned so much at this job about how to assist in managing a store, how to deal with customers who decide to try and steal, book work and proper customer service.  Learning something new everyday was the most enjoyable part of my job and also seeing repeat customers come into the store.  This helped me realize that our staff and myself had done a good job in true customer service.

This was my favorite position I have ever had! I enjoyed working at the mall because I was always seeing new faces and people were usually cheerful when shopping . I rarely ran into any issues here other than the inconvenience of having to skim through hundreds of pairs of shoes in minutes while your customer is waiting . Sometimes it was a bit nerve wrecking but other than that my co-workers were always super helpful .

•	Inventory Control and stocking duties - Opening and Closing the store - Visual Merchandising.
•	Recruited, interviewed and hired individuals who would bring passion and dedication to the positions at hand.
•	Encouraged the sales staff to cross-sell complementary products and services to customers.
•	Cleaned and organized the store, including the checkout desk and displays.
•	Engaged with customers in a sincere and friendly manner.

The great working dynamic that took place at this job was exceptional. Everyone worked hard together and was always there to help each other. It was a retail job with commission, so there was always a need to pay fine attention to customer service. The management was great in that they would always have an open door policy and were very accommodating. Definitely one of the best companies I have worked for.

I really enjoy working for this company. The hours have to be the hardest part of the job, not enough hours to take care of my family.
I enjoy the management as well as the co workers although I am just getting to know some of them because I was off on Maternity leave and all new staff started while I was away. I have learned so much from this company, I was a key holder before I went off, and I did alot of management dutys.

Athlete's World closed down about 4 years ago now, but it was a good first job. Through Athletes World I learned how to talk to people and how to interact with customers in a confident way. Athletes World taught me all the basic qualities a person should have in the retail business. I did everything in Athletes world, I was originally hired for stock but I also did sales and cash. It was a good job.

very fun workplace everyone friendly and hard working made job that much easier with the enjoyment of being there. The management team was great when it came to do with covering shift when needed at busy times and very flexible with hours.

Coming to work and stocking new inventory as well as interacting with customers and assisting them with anything they may need help with.
