Atomic Cartoons

Atomic Cartoons is a decent studio to work at if you're looking for job security.  Their shows are often renewed.  The pace is quite stable, but it also deteriorating into more periods of crunch.  As smaller artist teams keep up with demand.

Management is untrustworthy.  You will hear how well your show/company is doing but see your team cut in half between seasons.

They will lie to multiple artists at once about what responsibilities are required for career progression.  Often using the same vague words to prevent the artists from being able to really understand what might be preventing them moving up.

Salary is quite poor.  And very uneven.
You will hear "That pay wouldn't be fair to other artists of that title" before you're even hired.
Then be asked to do tasks a title above what you're contracted for once you prove you're capable.

Overall, it's just as corporate as the rest of the industry.  If you're looking for stability you'll find it, but you'll find stagnation and a total lack of growth.

My overall studio experience was great.
I was able to move departments and grow my skills as I wanted. However, one art director I worked with was quite disappointing to work with. She had neither the vision nor the artistic talent to give paint overs. Even though we communicated daily to get feedback, she did not stand by my side when dealing with the OT conflict with the producer. It felt like she got there with no talent, no skill, but with good political waves.

I have nothing bad to say about Atomic, except that most positions are contract only. (But that's the norm in the animation business I guess.) They're super nice and straight forward. The work is hard and deadlines must be met. All in all a fun place to work with just the right amount of challenge.

Its pretty on par with wild brain or titmouse, good place. They say its 9-5 but thats only if you dont take lunch, its 9-6 just like all the other studios. They care about appearances so if enough people bring up an issue they might actually adress it. Comfortable chairs!

Great community, very supportive.
They are willing to put a lot of work into training and mentoring staff. Lots of team oriented things planned during and outside work hours. Pretty good balancing of work and home life. The benefits are OK but they seem to be working hard on improving that.

A typical day is busy but fun and mostly I work on my own. I've learned about doing Set-up, How to use Shotgun and few things about CG and 2D layout. I love the workplace culture as well, we have beer fridays and occasionally we have studio event and gatherings.

PROS: Great place to learn. Work life balance is great. People are friendly. Contracts are very short. 

CONS: Be prepared for 3/4 month contracts each renewal. You will be kept on your toes. Leads and Sups weren't personable from my experience.

Overall a great company if you are a fresh graduate as it is very easy to transition into and the work environment is very chill, work balance is also great too. The only flaw is that you don't grow much as an artist.

The people are overall pretty nice, caring and supportive. They don't pressure you into doing overtime, and if needed, it is always paid and volunteer. However the benefits are not great, and the pay haven't really improved
