What is the best part of working at the company?
I worked as an administrative assistant for this company and unfortunately had a very negative experience. The leadership and overall organization were extremely poor. There was constant workplace drama involving management that regularly interfered with day-to-day operations and created an uncomfortable work environment for staff.

Communication between management, administration, and job sites was often disorganized. Foremen frequently did not have the information or supplies they needed, which caused unnecessary confusion and delays. Responsibilities were not handled professionally or consistently, and there appeared to be a lack of accountability from ownership.

Overall, it was a stressful and poorly managed workplace that lacked professionalism and structure.

It was absolutely horrible from start to finish 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
In my role as an Administrative Assistant, my average day included answering phones and responding to emails, completing billing and processing vendor payments, and ensuring vehicle registrations and related documentation were up to date and completed accurately. I was also responsible for organizing and completing new hire paperwork, submitting apprenticeship hours, and ensuring employee hours were properly entered and submitted for payroll. The position required strong organization, multitasking, communication, and attention to detail to keep daily operations running smoothly.

However, the workplace environment was often challenging due to ongoing drama and lack of organization within management, which at times made it difficult to complete tasks efficiently and maintain smooth day-to-day operations.

My time at Aurora I gained a comprehensive understanding of its operational and cultural dynamics. While every workplace has its challenges, my experience at this company was marked by several significant issues that I believe potential employees should be aware of.

Work Environment and Culture:

Unfortunately, the work environment was not conducive to employee well-being or productivity. There was a pervasive atmosphere of fear and intimidation, which stemmed from the management’s approach to leadership. Instances of verbal abuse, unreasonable demands, and public humiliation were not uncommon, creating a highly stressful and demoralizing atmosphere.

Management and Leadership:

The leadership style is characterized by a lack of support and respect for employees. Constructive feedback was rarely given, and when it was, it often came in a derogatory manner. This approach not only undermined employee confidence but also stifled innovation and growth. It was clear that there was a significant disconnect between management and staff, with little regard for employee morale.

Conclusion:

In summary, my experience was marred by a toxic work environment and ineffective leadership. While the company may offer opportunities in terms of job responsibilities and industry exposure, the detrimental impact on employee well-being and professional growth cannot be overlooked. I hope that by sharing my experience, I can help potential employees make an informed decision and encourage the company to address these critical issues.

My experience with this company has been very disappointing. The leadership here is one of the main issues.  There is a tendency from management to create and avoid responsibility for problems, which creates confusion and frustration throughout the company. 
The work environment itself is toxic. There's a palpable sense of division amongst teams; rather then working together to achieve company goals, management seemingly encourages competing with one another, which ultimately creates a fragmented and unproductive atmosphere.
Employees are frequently given additional responsibilities or higher titles, but the compensation does not match the increased workload, and often there is lack of skill & qualification. This is particularly frustrating because many of the employees are already overburdened and underappreciated. 
New hires in all positions, are often left to figure things out on their own, and there is little to no support when it comes to understanding company systems, processes, or expectations. It feels like a "sink or swim" mentality, which only exacerbates the challenges of working in such a disorganized and chaotic environment. The company's approach to onboarding and development feels like an afterthought and adds to the sense that employees are set up to fail. 
I would not recommend this company to anyone looking for a healthy, supportive work environment.

While there are several positive aspects about the organization, there are also some significant challenges, particularly with the management style.

One of the most notable issues is that the upper management often exhibits behaviours that align with what is commonly known as the Napoleon complex. This includes a tendency towards overly aggressive and domineering leadership, which can create a challenging and sometimes oppressive work environment.

Employees often feel undervalued and micromanaged, which stifles creativity and reduces overall morale. This approach seems to stem from a need to assert control rather than fostering a collaborative and supportive workplace.

While Aurora has great potential and a talented team, addressing these upper management issues would greatly improve employee satisfaction and productivity. Encouraging a more inclusive and empowering leadership style could lead to a more positive and effective organizational culture.


I currently work at Aurora as a Foreman in the Okanagan and thoroughly enjoy my job. Aurora is an amazing place to work. The crew are all hard workers. We get along really well, I encourage people to be collaborative, my way is not the highway, everyone has a voice. The office staff are great to work with, they get back to you immediately which is nice. The owner and managers comes around each site a couple times a week and the are great to have a chat with personally or work related. Overall my experience at Aurora has been great, it is very collaborative and fun, the hard workers get noticed. I recommend coming to work for Aurora as you will enjoy every project and there’s plenty of work scheduled for the foreseeable future. If you are a hard worker you will do great.

If you’re considering working here, be prepared for an aggressive and high-pressure environment. Management sets unrealistic expectations and offers little support in achieving them. Rather than fostering collaboration and growth, leadership often resorts to micromanagement, criticism, and an overall lack of empathy.

Deadlines are frequently moved up without warning, workloads are excessive, and there’s little regard for work-life balance. The culture leans heavily on fear-based motivation rather than constructive feedback or encouragement. High turnover is common, as many employees burn out quickly or leave due to the toxic atmosphere.

If you thrive under extreme pressure and don’t mind a lack of appreciation, this might be the place for you. Otherwise, I’d strongly recommend looking elsewhere.

No real support from management, virtually zero training, and don’t expect them to be truthful with you either. The level of disorganization is shocking — jobs are thrown together with little planning, and when issues arise, you’re met with cold shoulder responses.
Expect high pressure and unrealistic expectations, paired with low pay that doesn’t reflect the demands or the long hours. Newer or apprentice workers are especially left to figure things out on their own, which creates unnecessary stress and safety concerns in this field.
If you’re looking for a collaborative team, proper onboarding, honest communication, or fair compensation, this is not the place. These issues and lack of leadership make it a frustrating and exhausting experience.

Competitive wages with higher than normal apprentice wages.
Almost 20 years in the trade and I have been with some good companies as well as bad ones......
Now I am selective about who I work for and I can honestly say I am very happy with my choice to go with Aurora Elec. 
They genuinely care about employees' health and safety, quality of work, providing support and direction, and proper training. Excellent communication and dedication to provide a good and healthy work environment. 
Combine all of the above with lots of work ahead as well as room for advancement makes them a good choice. 
I enjoy going to work every day, which is huge!!

The turn over at Aurora was comical. 6 different foremen cycled through the jobsite I was on. Raises, bonuses, and other perks were talked about when I was hired but nothing ever happened. I worked my hardest for 7 months before I gathered the courage to ask for a raise only to get denied.
The only time I remember our management bringing us coffee and doughnuts was the day before a unionization vote.
A positive thing I can say is that I learned a lot while working for Aurora and I met some really good people on the crew.
Overall I was disappointed with my time at this company.

I really love my job here! I honestly wake up excited to work! Everyone works hard but still has fun. The whole crew is really fun to work with. The guys n’ gals race wiring suites jamming out to music. There’s no bullying journeyman like my last job, who call you names if you mess up. Everyone helps one another and teaches you the hows and whys so you can be the best sparky possible. I’ve never learnt so much, so fast and well, and I’ve only been here a couple months as a mid term apprentice
