Management is reactive not proactive .I worked at Avcorp for over 20 years and really don`t have any regrets about working there or leaving . While management does seem immature at times  and assigns managerial positions to those who should n`t be in such positions. There are far worse places to work . Your experience at Avcorp will be determined on the attitude of your area manager . Most employees are happy enough to go about their duties and easy enough to work with . I do wish that Avcorp took the time recognize the employees who go beyond what is expected but thats up to the crew and the chargehands. On the down side there are employees who hide within the union for job protection, without the union they would be unemployed .  I would recommend applying at Avcorp . There is room for advancement with automatic rate progression .

Avcorp is an interesting place to work, when there is work.  The culture of Avcorp is like no other company. Micromanagement is the norm for union employees. Work ethics of the employees is poor due to the management's actions. Cooperation is not part of this culture. There is a definite divide between management and employees. This makes for a challenging environment when things need to be done.  There is always talk of terminations and lay-off. Office staff are not immune either as I quickly learned.

Waste of time and skills

Since the day of the interview , i had doubts in my mind whether to join this company or not. 
Interview panel was so terrible and naive.
Unfortunately i decided to go forward with accepting the offer.

After working for couple of months i figured out that this is not the place i wanted to be.

Micromanagement is the norm.
Supervisors and managers have unprofessional attitude.
Management doesn’t care for employees.

The union workers and the production workers were very split my crew was essential to production but they treated us poorly 
We had tons of time in GOS but if you got caught sitting down despite not being able to find anyone with anything for you to do when the supervisors came back from having a smoke for an extended period of time I’d get in trouble cause I was sitting down yet he didn’t have work for me anyways

Ok if you stay out of the negativity and poor company culture and do your work. You can advance if you work well. Problem is the company doesnt have any vision or support for its initiatives and is decades behind in industry systems and logistics and planning but saying so this allows for learning the aerospace industry from a great perspective.

Started out making floats. And still hasn't managed to turn a profit 50+ years later.

Look at the financials. Should say enough!

Company hires people with experience, only for them to leave. Then, they promote from within (CEO). None of which have a clue, or have ever seen a real, profitable Aerospace company run.

Every 2nd Friday off is nice, but also kills productivity. Most staff do not have Aerospace background. Lot of talk and no action.

Avoid.

Since its inception this company has never made money. It is very poorly managed and could be a lot better. Management likes to divide the Union workforce from the Staff. You are just a number to them. Coworkers are mostly great and put up with it all as well.Untimely bill paying means parts shortages.Lots of past layoffs but looking more secure.

Awesome pay and benefits, found that people that worked in my area lacked interest. It was a pretty boring culture. Very segregated work areas.
Hardest part of the job was putting up with the boredom of the job.
Most enjoyable part of the job was lunch and getting to go home.
Employees on the floor were pretty awesome- it was good to interact with them, it made the days tolerable.

Although the work is interesting and there is plenty of opportunity for overtime, there is total animosity and a lack of respect between the management and the employees which created a very UNPLEASANT work environment! I haven't worked there for over ten years so things may have changed. (I doubt it)

I work there for 21 years and could of gone the distance to retirement although I had to go.
The politics between the  Union and Company  have always been toxic. The uncertainty of the company's future is always questionable due to financial problems.
