Manufacturing is all about accuracy and customer support. Creating a solid product on a regular basis.

I was hired on as temporary contract to evolve into a full time employee. However i never made it. With the management demanding 100% accuracy out of FAULTY machinery and bad ingredients. Working with machines that break down constantly, chemicals that make you nauseous without proper safety 
management. The constant revolving door of other temporary workers while the management plays with the favourites. Their in house union does their best, but hardly ever fights fairly for the new employee's. 

The hardest part of the day is never knowing where the axe would land, a 12 month probation is a highly stressful and anxiety induced environment. Every day can be your last. 

Anyone can do the physical work, but not everyone should be.

If you're not accepted as a part of the 'old boys club' you're not going to last. If you want to make positive changes to safety in this company you will meet with egotistical and immature men. You can't teach these old dogs a new trick.
Resistance from plant management is constant and the only ally you might have is located remotely in another country.

Plant Manager doesn't like his job because it demands attention and expects everyone else to complete tasks he's not willing to champion.

If you want a real challenge then this safety job is for you, otherwise...keep moving on...

I worked here for 2 years and I left for a better opportunity. The work itself is fairly easy and you're given an appropriate amount of time to complete tasks. Best part of the job was my coworkers, but beware of snakes in the grass. It isn't just management that will try and screw you over at every turn. The management and HR are completely incompetent and lack experience. If you want to jump on a sinking ship with uncompetitive wages, this is the job for you. FYI it takes 5 years to reach a top wage of a whopping 26 an hour. Good luck.

Great maintenance team. This company just wants you to come in and do your job. They have a procedure for everything but don’t seem to have the staff to support how they want things done. HR has been great for the few small issues I’ve had. Excellent and approachable plant manger . Good people to work with in general. Mechanically there hesitant to embrace new technology so its a pretty easy place to work at. Hiring process was a little frustrating with all the background checks. 

At first it was so hard for because everything is new to me, specially the english language since it is not my first language. As I go on working and learned everyday as my co-workers and supervisors taught me. I am so grateful for they are very understanding and supportive people to a worker like me. As I am very willing and eager to learn so as my co-workers are willing to help and teach me everything I need to know. As the years goes by I mastered the filler machine operator.

Union and friendly co workers.

Not too stressful  because of team work. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Multi cultural and exposed  to chemicals.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Busy to meet production deadline.

Happy to be working here. The whole team here is amazing. Clear instructions, clear expectations, clear communication from Axalta leadership team and site management team. Supervisors are amazing too. Few people complaining here were let go of the job by production manager due to substandard work. You got to WORK here, then things will fall in place. 

Not a tough job compared to 24/7 assembly work. Pay is good though. RRSP and pension plans are very good here. The place had lot of turnovers in recent years due to retirements and lot of new hires did not work out. People doesn’t want to work these days. The new hires who were “let-go” shows their frustrations here with low ratings. Zero complaints on the company and the management. Absolute best.

Work with a coworker and the management team

Great coworkers. Good supervisors. Terrible management. Because everyone goes through a 1 year contract it's very competitive for a labour related job. Very few actually get hired on, but the ones that do tend to work there a long time. Overall I had a great work experience there, but as a chemical company it felt like I was slowly killing myself working there.
