I was a contract worker in a lab. It was not the worst laboratory technician job I've had, but there was no room for advancement and the workplace didn't seem desirable for a career either way. BASF is usually serious about improving safety, but when I complained about the strain of repetitive heavy lifting (heavy lifting was not in the job description), they did nothing to accommodate this issue. Training was okay but at times inconsistent which would usually cause issues in the future. The gossip was annoying, but that's the downfall of most workplaces. It's very monotonous work, you are essentially a lab factory worker, the winter season is intense and the summers are pretty dead and you mostly just sit at your desk. If you need basic laboratory experience after high school or undergrad it's fine, but if you have a higher education level look for something more interesting with potential for career advancement. 

More time is spent meeting micro mangers demands instead of getting the job done they were hired to do. No room for autonomy or to to reach solutions for growth. High turnover due to stress and burnout from management. 
Immediate management and their boss do not walk the walk or talk the talk as those above them do. Training provided is excellent. Interaction goals are not adjusted to take into consideration the days & time the training takes away from hitting the daily / weekly call target numbers. Strong focus on quantity of interactions week not quality or client size to build relationships.

As a summer intern there are many different jobs that are required, which changes every day based on what needs to be done. I learned many things such as weed identification, basic spraying techniques, setting up field trials with biologists. 
The work culture was very welcoming, friendly and encouraging. There is a strong aspect of safety and teamwork in everyday jobs. 
The most difficult part of the job is being organised in all the different trials that are occurring in the same time. However, this is double checked by the team and is a collective responsibility. The most enjoyable part of the job is being outdoors and working in a group.

Needless to say, I no longer work here. I was let go during my probation for no reason at all. I was told it had to do with performance. They were unable to elaborate of course. This came as quite a shock to me as every supervisor and fellow employee told me to my face that i was doing great and should get in no problem. I made no real mistakes and the ones i did make had zero effect on the product. This without any adequate training. Good luck to anybody trying to get in. unless you are related to somebody, you might just end up disappointed. Overall the worst work ecperience of my life.

What is the best part of working at the company?
In two words, 'Global Family'. BASF Canada was one of the greatest, most fun and fulfilling employment journeys I've ever been on. I left to re-start my own Consulting Company - and I do not mind admitting I've re-thought that decision many, many times. I loved working for BASF!!

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Human Resources is 'by the book' and extremely thorough with everything. That is a huge positive but it can also create stress if you've miss-stepped.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Awesome. Fabulous. Challenging.

During my time there, I learned how to manage complex customer accounts, coordinate cross-functional projects, and use systems like SAP and CRM effectively. The management team is supportive and open to feedback, and colleagues are professional and cooperative. BASF also values employee development by offering regular training and growth opportunities.

Although the pace can be fast and expectations are high, the sense of achievement and teamwork make it a rewarding place to work. Overall, BASF is an excellent organization for those who want to grow professionally and contribute to meaningful, global projects.

What is the best part of working at the company?
They pay well enough I suppose.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
They flat out lied about how much they expected me to work. They also didn't mention how much overtime would be needed, weekends included.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
It's work until you die mentality.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Get up, work 12 hours. Then rinse and repeat.

Haven't had any luck yet,  poor communication by supervisors and management

Coworker is a bully towards new employees

Work outside, so its cold. As are the supervision personnel 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Long hours and pay structure is falling behind other employers

The pay wasn't bad, but more would have been better because of the level of quality that was expected was high.  The more automated area needed more was misleading as things had a tendency to go wrong.  The last 2 days were hard on the system because you finished one shift and started the last shift on the same day.

Decent to work for but long tough hours. Really great pension plan and benefits but very poor management. I was a machine Operator we did 4 days on 4 off of 12 hour shifts. The first two days were days shifts 7am to 7pm the next two days are night shifts 7pm to 7am. They are legally aloud to do it because you technically have 24 hours off between the end of the day shift and start of the night shift.. very tough on the body and difficult to get used to don’t do this job if you have a family.
