BBW has an amazing work atmosphere and offers the opportunity for individuals needing occasional hours.
Due to the variety of events I was involved in, BBW gave me the opportunity to meet many interesting people from different fields of work. I partook in conferences such as CANWEA (the Canadian Wind Energy Association) or MDM, which were very interesting and unique opportunities.
I act mainly as an administrative assistant, filling in positions where necessary and help in any sort of administration or need from the management. Hours can be long or short depending on the event, which keeps things interesting and requires both flexibility and adaptability on my part. This means that I have learnt to quickly understand the tasks asked of me and be able to perform them efficiently, making recommendations for changes or enhancements where I thought necessary.

The company is horrible work for. There is no regard for seniority in years worked. Staff has to be on the favourites list of one of the owners—Sheila. The favourites are given the best hours and the best events. The wage is dollars lower than clients pay BBW. Sheila is moody and rude and demanding with staff then will flip to smiling and laughing with a client. The 20 percent of Staff that is lazy and late and unprofessional and call in sick a lot still get preference for shifts over the 80 percent of staff who are early for shifts and professional and do not call in sick and work hard. When clients give staff compliments to staff through the BBW office, those compliments are not given to staff. Staff has to adhere to a strict dress code that is expensive. However, 20 percent of the staff who do not adhere to the dress code, still get more hours over the 80 percent of staff that adhere to the strict dress code. Often clients treat staff rudely and are demanding and nothing is done by BBW to help.

Enjoy working many of the same venues throughout the year, getting to know and work closely with venue staff.

Registration position at each conference is usually very busy first couple of days but slows down last few days so constantly looking for  projects to keep busy.

Loved working for this company!  They do many different events all over Canada.  The lead person in Ottawa is an absolutely wonderful human being and I always look forward to working with her!  Those who I have met with the executive team have been incredible!  I have worked tradeshows, done surveys, helped with event set up, served salad, worked as a team lead, etc.  If you enjoy events, this is a great opportunity to gain experience in a variety of different settings.  

Great way to meet people and make friends. Very polite BBW staff...are like family. Work in variety of positions in respectable large venues and being a part of world class shows. Perfect for me when I was in between jobs or gigs as well as now that I am semi-retired. It keeps me busy working flexible hours doing something different from my ordinary work. The most enjoyable part of the job is that you never know what unique positions you will be assigned when International shows or gigs arrive in Toronto.

A typical day at BBW might consist of a corporate convention. We would be responsible for hosting the convention and providing clientele with every client facing position they may require.
I learn from them all the time. Whether it's new skills or just life lessons from the people I work with I always feel a little more educated when I leave a contract with them.
Overall the people are good and everytime a new contract comes up its always a new and fun experience.

Event staff should have customer service abilities and should be able to engage naturally with the clients and customers. 

Don’t expect any support or training of any kind from management. Your just a body to fill the position. You may get some training  but just enough to fail doing your job properly.

No such thing as a typical day since each event is different, but you could always count on a friendly atmosphere among your co-workers.
Management was the best.  They were friendly, but professional making sure both client, and staff were taken care of.
Every day on the job was friendly, warm, and cooperative.  
Worst part of the job would be dealing with the occasional rude customer.  
Best part of the job was how positive, and encouraging everyone was no matter how busy things got.

Overall, I commend BBW for giving its staff opportunities to work in varied positions. Oftentimes it's something simple like directional hosting, but occasionally you may be invited to do coat checking or registering attendees for a conference. It is up to the employee to decide if they will work a shift, so if you're looking for flexibility, BBW work is for you. However, because it's gig-based, do not expect consistent work; consider working at BBW as supplementary income.

A typical day at work involves signing in at the first level of BC Place, where I am assigned my position. Afterwards, my team lead holds a meeting with everyone under him/her briefing us on the event. Once the event starts, I interact with the customers by scanning tickets, or guiding them to their seats, sections, and other BC Place accommodations. After the event has ended, I sign out and my shift is over.
