What is the best part of working at the company?
The hourly wage and union support. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The management were disorganized, inconsistent, crossed boundaries, micromanaged and played favourites. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Very toxic and unsupportive. Unless you learn to speak their talk, you will not have a chance of advancing. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Inconsistent. Picked on by the new manager. Other co-workers were given special accommodations that were unprofessional, as in being able to pick which customers they would serve, or they would run into the backroom and leave others to help customers. This was encouraged and supported by the assistant manager. Disrespectful and toxic environment.

Despite having record-breaking sales year after year, they constantly cut hours and treat their auxiliary staff horribly. The work itself is easy, but no sense of job security, reward for effort, or like you’re anything more than an “expense” to corporate. Do not even bother becoming an auxiliary at these stores, they will tell you that you’ll get X amount of hours and be able to move up and earn benefits, but corporate will do anything to stop that from happening because they don’t want to pay for your time or work. Seriously, don’t waste your time here, it’s quite sad how quickly things are going to go downhill.

The day to day work is easy and enjoyable but there is a lot of tension and animosity between staff members, and between staff and management.  There has been 4 different store managers over the past three years and each one had their own idea on how to run things making it very difficult for staff to have any sense of consistency or reliability . The company trains its managers very poorly. They don’t know or understand the employment standards set out in our employment contract.  

Great work life balance, good salary and benefits.  Excellent employer to grow your skills as they offer a lot of free education.  The BCGEU environment does however have the potential of creating a toxic work environment pitting employees against management.  Customers are awesome.  It is a pleasure to go to work. 

Head office knows barely anything about cannabis and do things without input from store level. Always short staffed, executive management not supportive, auxiliaries not guaranteed hours, no work life balance. Good luck getting full time hours. 

You are a number and they only care about bringing in money. 

The wage and benefits are great, but it also requires selling your soul to the government. 

Auxiliary puts you on-call 4/7 days a week including weekends, no guaranteed hours, no benefits, and no real chance for advancement. Full-time positions are mostly full, or even over-staffed, part-time positions are being phased out, and they've been cutting staff in general. 

If you get a full-time position, it's not bad. Auxiliary positions are a joke. All the commitment of a job, and no guarantee of a proper paycheque. 

Best job I've ever had that's forsure! I've worked at all 3 locations we have in town and I like every single staff member I've ever worked with! I absolutely love my management team. Work is seriously an absolute joy. I am auxiliary but I generally get good hours! Just waiting to work myself up the ladder and I think this job is worth the wait to climb the ladder. Definitely consider it a career job.

No active management support. Lazy team that’s allowed to be lazy thanks to union. Schedule is bizarre and no consideration or consistency. Job itself is fine if you can handle all the above. If you’re considering a career with them, Make sure to ask every question you can think of before signing on the dotted line.

Not worth it. Work for a small independent cannabis retailer if you want to work in this industry. Support local entrepreneurs who value their employees. 

Very supportive and friendly environment to work in. Great benefits. You learn much about how the industry is developing, and the direction it’s heading in. Only major criticism is of how staff are scheduled, especially RPT employees.
