Excellent company to work for!!! Benefits are great; medical, dental, and MSP. Flex day every 3 weeks which is a bonus. Vacation days are dependent if you're regular full time and if you are it depends on your amount of team members in your department. 

Management is pretty good and they collaborate with their team members on a regular basis. Lots of working and communicating with other departments to make things work for everyone. 

Co-workers and colleges' from different departments are amazing. All BCH employees are very friendly and engaging. 

Work/life balance depends which department you work in. One example is operations department (maintenance) which is a very chaotic and it does not give a good work/life balance when you are on call for a week responding to after hours emergencies 

Client base is very diverse with different challenges, no day is the same with very rewarding results.

Hiring process is a bit challenging for external candidates as the criminal record check takes a month or longer and the candidate moves on to a different employer rather than waiting. 

I do not share the same enthusiasm working for this organization that others have. There is no realistic vision to solve the housing crisis.  The bureaucracy and image obsession is a nightmare. Management and the top people in the organization seek to constantly look good and cover any problems by masking it with inclusive language, all the while being the same old government institution it is.  Co-workers are a lottery.    The Union is useless and non existent.  Its a perfect job for those that like to simply obey a master or those who like stepping on others to get ahead.  HR just pretends everyone is happy. 

I enjoyed working with a program that aided in assisting low income seniors and person with physical disabilities and/or diminished abilities. It has been a pleasure giving back to the vulnerable population through this wonderful grant assistance.
This position has given me the chance to utilize my interpersonal skills and provide friendly customer service which has been a strong role for me in my previous work history.

BC Housing is a great place to work at. However, for the short time i have been here, i find that there's constant movement of start and my observation is based on limited room for growth. My job is satisfying but I don't feel the impact my role makes on the public we serve.

Over all, great working environment with an encouragement to have a good work life balance. Teleworking from home also provides some flexibility.

BC Housing is a wonderful place to work. The people here are what really make BCH a dream to work for. Really fantastic, caring, hard working colleagues. The work is really rewarding, you know you're making a difference for people in need. You get a flex day (extra day off) every 3 weeks, you get one of the best pensions out there but unfortunately the salaries at BCH don't match what other similar organizations pay

This company is falling apart.  There is a massive disconnect between the "corporate vision" and the execution of the programs.  Working in Supportive Housing is like watching someone poor money down the drain that an entire city is camping beside.  BC Housing doesn't care about homeless people and they take advantage of the frontline staff who have to speak to the community about the failings of the company.

No stress at all in my department

I work in film department  and the department is very healthy work place

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Over seeing film crews and looking after building etc

Management has no idea what they're doing half of the time, they're literally scrambling to get coverage and trying to pass off someone's unfinished work onto someone else who's more capable. Only to create burnout amongst all employees, and all around the office, the morale is quite low. No one is listened to, no one takes your concerns about anything seriously. It takes every ounce of my being to not walk out that door every day and just not come back. 

I work at BC Housing as a temporary employee, but the support and care from the supervisory staff is attentive and in-depth. The coworkers watch out for you, and their is a culture of patience and kindness when approaching new hires and seasoned employees alike. It can be tough dealing with client demands on occasion, but the staff looks out for everyone, and the work environment is very positive.

Work started out as a really positive experience but after 2 months of working here I realized how dark it was. There is a culture of management s... assualting the new and younger female staff and then covering up. There is no one there to report to and people tell on each other once you try to get the word out. Beware of BC housing because it is not all it is cracked up to be.
