It is advertised that there is 3-meal-course. That's correct if only you work in the am shift and able to get a lunch break. The food served for staff is leftover food from functions. May be 3-5 day old or 1 day. If you work in pm shift then you may end up with cold sandwich or nothing. Sometimes there is no break at all.
Managment is always a taker..asks for more availability in return we get unfair hourly rate.

 New hires make as much as senior staff. If you bring this unfairness  to managements attention then they blame you to discuss your wage with others.  I have been working at that place for 4 years and my rate is as same as a new hire. Hiw fair that is. ??!! Since it is not unionize it is very easy to get fired. One of us got fired because he took 2 muffins instead of 1 in her lunch break. I am not saying what she did was ok but it shouldn't be that easy to give up on your employees.  Vcc doesn't really give any value to its employees;everyone is replaceable for it. Not only servers even captains; I have seen a lot. 

We tried to bring union to vcc but management played an ugly game on
Us becouse management doesn't want to give up on 18%service charge that goes in every single management pocket.( There is no gratuities for servers, stewards nor housman.) Vcc brought people against union had them sign against union. As a result even though vcc staff wanted to be unionized ppl from outside who dont work for  vcc voted against union. How low is that ???!!!

Vcc is so mean that there is no employee of the month it is only every 6 months. Because vcc disnt want to give 40$ to the employee of the month every month instead it is only twice or once a year. Tight budget eh? 

If vcc knows it is your only job then you are screwed. They won't care about you at all becouse you cannot quit nor ask for raise or fair treatment. If you ask they will say you know where the door is.

Oh bartenders dont get tip. No tip jar is not allowed so vcc is having hard time to find bartenders. If you noticed bartenders are old people who dont mind working short shifts without tip. Because they cannot find any bartender job anywhere due to age.  So they are ok with short shifts (4-5 hours) and late nights. 


Very sad. Such a pretty place to work such a big name but the management undervalues its employees , uses them and let them go when there is an excuse to do so. 
These are my experience maybe vcc has changed. But I dont think so!!


I worked at VCC Corp for three years and had a generally positive experience. The company culture is vibrant and inclusive, with a strong emphasis on teamwork and collaboration. My colleagues were not only talented but also supportive, making the workplace environment enjoyable. The company frequently organized team-building activities and social events, which helped foster a sense of community and camaraderie.

The projects I worked on were interesting and provided ample opportunities for professional growth. The management was approachable and often encouraged innovative thinking. I also appreciated the flexible work hours and the option for remote work, which allowed for a good work-life balance.

However, compensation at VCC Corp is a significant downside. Despite the enjoyable work environment and opportunities for development, the wages are not competitive compared to industry standards. This is a major drawback, especially considering the rising cost of living. The benefits package, while decent, does not entirely make up for the lower salary.

In summary, VCC Corp is a great place to work if you value a fun and engaging workplace with wonderful colleagues. However, if competitive pay is a priority for you, it might not be the best fit. Fun people, but the wage is not great.







A typical day at work would be you sign in and get dressed and then you get a catered lunch most of the time its like a sandwich or a wrap with a fruit and bottle of water. When you sign in they assign you to a stand where you could be doing a different type of job every time you go to work which in my case was not to my liking. 

   What i learned from the job was since i was working in the back where all the kitchen appliances were was to regularly check the temperatures of the refrigerated products and the cooked products so that they meet food safe standards and to prepare the right amount of food for the rushes during game intermissions.

   The hardest part of the job is probably always having to be on call which is one of the reasons i couldn't continue working there, the only way you could possibly figure out some type of schedule would to look at the calendar and see when the games are and make time for it. The best part of working there was meeting all my new co-workers young and old it was really fun working with them.

I worked in this industry for over 10yrs, not just at the VCC and it’s always great to deal with such a variety of people from different cultures and backgrounds as your co-workers and customers. In terms of the work, depending on the department, the skills and knowledge you acquire are quite useful if you ever need to be in a setting of hospitality, either the one involved in putting a special occasion together or just being there to enjoy everything. That being said, the employees there are a bit “clique-ish”, even within their own department. And finally I see a lot of favouritism there, especially when scheduling work for different workers. 

If you love seeing BC’s top athletes and a wide range of events with guests from all over the world, BC Place is a great place to work.  The paid training sessions (that include catering) provide all the tools to advance in the organization.  As employees at BCP are often the first people to welcome guests to the city of Vancouver, BCP has high standards.  This can seem daunting, but BCP is committed to training everyone that is willing to learn.  

I love the fact that BCP provides a polished uniform and bag that includes a water bottle, hat, jacket, vest, shirts, pants and photo ID that gives employees half price off food purchases.  BCP provides tailoring and dry cleaning of all BC Place clothing. They give everyone access to a locker room that includes a locker, private showers, and vanity stations.  One only needs to buy socks and shoes.


A typical work day includes following a list of objectives that must be completed. This can include dividing the team into multiple groups and setting up multiple conference rooms or focusing all manpower to reset a large ballroom. Delegation, intercommunication and project management skills are key attributes to succeed. At any point in setting up a room many tasks are being executed simultaneously; linen collection for tabletops and stages, equipment collection ie chairs, tables stages, and equipment removal. 
This is a great venue for developing management skills.

If you want a job where the employer could care less about you or your personal life then work at VCC. You will get treated unfairly and even when you raise any issues you will be the problem. 
This place has huge turn around.  You want vacation consider that to be denied. You find something unsafe and report it consider getting written up. You request shifts that work with your schedule denied. They will do everything and anything to make sure this is miserable job to be at. Sure they offer good pay and pension but it comes with a huge downside. Good luck to whoever applies. Better jobs out there people 

I was a part-time banquet server. I had to set up my station and serve guests with food and beverages.
I learned to work as part of a team. Helping each other in making sure all the guests were happy and satisfied. My co-workers were always friendly and outgoing. The hardest part of the job was carrying many food trays on a tray.
The most enjoyable part of the job was we got to eat, sometimes watch events going on at the time of dinner. We also got to take home souveniers being given out that night.

Good for a first job - pay is good, just very busy and tiring. I learned to work with so many different kinds of people which helps with customer service. I learned to work till, clean, cook and count stock. The best part about the job was the constant positive environment of a cheering crowd and cheering on our home teams while working at the same time - you pretty much watch games/concerts while getting paid

Crew members are supervised under Crew leaders and Supervisors. Some days depending on the event, building stages and rooms can be stressful. However, other crew staff are there to help each other. There are a lot of equipment under our department to use for these events which requires effort and safety.
